I got the Incredible yesterday, and as I was charging the phone last night, I noticed a high pitch noise somewhere in my room. Turns out it was the battery charger.

Is anyone else's wall charger making a high pitched whistling noise when you have it plugged in? If I put the wall charger itself in the outlet without the usb cable inserted, it sounds fine. As soon as I plug the USB cable into it, it starts making the noise.
View 41 Replies View RelatedI had my phone charging at my desk when I suddenly noticed a high pitched whine/chirping coming from somewhere. I was quickly able to pinpoint it -- it's my charger.
I did a Google search and it seems to be a fairly common issue with AC wall chargers.
I'm just curious, is this something I should be concerned about? While it's annoying, I can certainly put up with it until I can have Verizon replace it but I don't want to have to stress about some electrical surge nuking my phone.
Oh, just now the charging finished and as soon as it did (mind you it's still plugged in) the noise ceased.
I have noticed that while charging my EVO using the stock wall charger and any micro usb cable that there is a loud whining noise. It is pretty loud and can even hear it while watching TV. I have read that the Droid Incredible charger has the same issue as well and have tried to switch the prong orientatoin and still no luck. I have used my other HTC charger that I have from my old Touch Diamond and don't hear any type of noise. I have read that it is the capacitors in the charger making the noise. I have tested and the charger still makes the noise after the green LED light has come on.

After playing some music via wifi using Radio Time for an hour, the temperature was 109 degrees Fahrenheit and the phone was warm. Now I know the temp would go up, but is is this abnormally high? Is this normal? Do I have anything to be worried about cause I love this app and don't want to stop using it.
View 16 Replies View RelatedWhen I make a call everyone is telling me that they are hearing a loud shrill sound but I hear nothing so I went to Verizon to get an exchange since I have the insurance. They checked my phone out and said it should be exchanged but when they tried to exchange it they said there was none in the store and none even at their warehouse and they had no idea when they would get more. I'm wondering if that is because of the new Android phones coming out.
So if I have to get another phone I want to be prepared to make a decision. Any thoughts on another Android phone? I absolutely love my Droid and hope they will be able to get more in so I can exchange mine. But if I can't I would want one just like the Droid as far as a physical keyboard and also I like the amount of memory. And I want the freedom I have with the Droid to install anything I want. It's the first phone Verizon hasn't locked down.
Anyway hopefully I can keep my Droid but as I said I just want some ideas in case they don't get any more Droids in stock. Oh one last question, I was talking to an ex Verizon employee who insisted that the Droid won't accept a 32GB card. Is this correct?
So this weekend was my first real world test using the GPS turn by turn for a long car ride (about an hour). I had everything all set plugged in and started the music player (not Pandora) running in the background while the GPS was displaying on the screen. I also had the bluetooth synced to the car. To my surprise, the battery started to drain. It was pretty slow but after about an hour around 5-10% of the battery drained even while plugged in. Do you think it is my after market car charger from monoprice (For only $1.46 each when QTY 50+ purchased - Motorola V8, V9 Series Car Charger for RAZR2 | Motorola It has been working great in the car for about 2 weeks with Pandora playing and bluetooth.
Anyone else experiencing battery drain while plugged in the car using GPS? I think I read someone having a similar situation but with the Verizon charger. I am also using the stock battery. If not, please let me know which car charger you are using with a link if possible. I can't continue using this one if there is one out there that will keep me charged in the car.
I've had my Moment for 2 weeks now and love it. However, this morning I noticed something new. When I press down on the bottom left corner of the screen (home button vicinity) I get a creaking sound. I get the sound pretty much every time I press down on any part of the bottem left 1/4 of the screen. I do not get this sound when the keyboard is pulled out, so it's coming from some play between the phone and the keyboard. My wife has the same phone and does not have this problem. I'm curious to know if anyone else has developed this creaking noise. Anyone getting this sound?

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust installed SkyRaider 2.5.2 yesterday and radio 2.15. Using Launcher Pro+ and updated the notification bar to have the circle indicator. The charge took almost five hours. (Which I see is a common thing). However, when I unplugged my phone from charging this morning (9+ Hour charge) the battery went from 100% to 93% in about five minutes. It seems like I am losing 1% every minute or so until I reach 93%. Then it kind of stays steady. CPU clock is running constantly at 600 MHz+.

Also now when I send texts, it will send them but it wont show them in the screen. Also the browser says page not available and every time I download from the market it says download failed. Also I have no 3G connection and time is wrong.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using the OEM charger on my Dinc and nothing else. I randomly get a message something like, "The charger you are using is not compatible with your device. Remove the charger now to avoid damage to your phone". I have not used anything other than the OEM charger ever. It isn't loose or frayed or bent strangely. It also seems to charge even though the message pops up. For now, I'm using my computer's USB port to charge it but man, that's SLOOOOOOOOW. It has done it since I first got the phone and before I had even installed my first app. It also does it after a factory reset and reprogram. Customer service is sending an aftermarket wall charger free of charge until I can get an OEM unit as they are obviously out of stock.

within 20 minutes the results on the battery are the following:
Android System: 63%
Display: 24%
Cell standby 13%
Any thoughts on to what might be causing Android System to be so high, only them programs are running. Does this happen to your system? I notice with web browsing its about the same usage as well, with wifi and internet taking up small amounts.
This is not a battery life thread, in short all I wish to know is whether the Droid X battery (which stupidly only reads in 10% intervals) is reported higher or lower than its actual value?
For example, when it is at 70% reported, is it at 79% (or lower)? Or is it at 61% or higher? Obviously logic says it rounds down so it is always showing battery levels lower than it actually is (which is good because your battery is always higher than what it tells you), but it is also plausible that it ticks down (to 70%) when it actually hits 70%, then stays there until it gets down to 60%.
Not really a support question but its something I've been wondering, I assume it is the former as that makes the most sense from both a mathematical standpoint and a logical standpoint (show less battery than you really have left and you will not run out of battery when the phone goes into its battery reserve state).
I've been trying some battery widgets, and I like a lot that HTC battery widget, with the battery icon and the "battery" written down. It's a pity that this one's only for 480x320 displays. Is there a version of it for 800x480 displays?

Whenever i hold it in a vertical position, you can here it click. You can actually see the batt cover move just a little bit. Is anyone else having this issue. I know that it is a small thing to complain abt, but that clicking is annoying.

Except, I never ran my game (I had run the game before starting the charge). I checked TasKiller, and it didn't list my game as running (my game also doesn't run any services). When I clicked on the details of the battery usage for my game, it didn't list anything under the "Use details" section. Is it possible to use battery, but not have anything listed under the "Use details" section?

View 20 Replies View RelatedBefore everybody redirects me to the standard "ways to extend your battery life" threads, I believe I've tried all the usual tricks, which is why I'm posting another thread.This is really starting to drive me nuts. Up until a few weeks ago, I was getting good battery life. A couple of days worth with normal usage, which I think is reasonable with all considered.But now, it lasts about half a day, which is obviously not much use when you can only charge it at night.I've been checking the "awake time" and sometimes it just keeps staying high. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. When the awake time is high, it is also warm to the touch, as if it is doing a lot of processing or something.
I've also been using "spare parts" to see what appears under "partial awake". I have never seen anything under this which accounts for the awake time. For example, the awake time might say "15 hrs", but "partial awake" in spare parts shows the biggest thing as being "Android system", but only taking "2 mins".I have (as far as I can tell) disabled the standard HTC messages app, and am now using Handcent SMS.I have turned off bluetooth and GPS, but leave wifi and mobile data on. I know switching these off saves power, but I've always had them on without as much drain as I do now.I have done a factory reset, and reinstalled all my usual apps, and left off any which I don't really need. All seemed well for a few days, but then the drain started again.
I have a feeling my battery drain is due to an update to an app, but as it's not consistent, I can't figure out which app or update it could be.As it is, with the battery lasting for less time than I am out in the day, it makes it a really rubbish phone, and just not fit for purpose.Is there any other way, other than using "spare parts", that I can tell what is using my power?
Well recently, its been getting REALLY hot here in New York. And with it, my battery temperature has been idling in the 30-35 range, higher in my pocket, and therefore its been at 40 constantly. I've done nothing today with it besides maybe 15 minutes of music via headphones total, and I'm getting like 17 hour battery life. I used to get this while spamming apps, playing around, browsing, etc. Does temperature increase battery use or is it time to switch ROMs (Petes 0.8 has been a battery drain on me).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have lately flashed CM10.1 nightly on my GT-I9300 and am experiencing high battery drain (twice-three times what I had before), and get over 1%/h over the night when all is turned off.I have read a lot about fast battery drain reasons, but couldn't find an answer to mine.I've downloaded better battery stats to check for any abnormal activity, but it seems normal to me (dump attached).
Note, I've installed the cm10.1 straight from my internal memory and I do not have an external SD card.Also, from the dump file it seems that the phone was mostly in deep sleep mode and I see no reason then why it wouldn't just drain at 1-2% per 8h.
I got a battery dock, i placed the battery in it instead of charging via the phone, it lasts all day! thats it, for whatever reason this works. I no longer have to even charge while at work. Its that simple. I know it kinda sucks but oh well. It just has something to do with the way htc has the phone charge for a while and then stop and the rest of the time its back on battery even while on the phone charger.
