Android :: New Sim Card / Will Phone Contacts Remain?
May 20, 2010Im on 3 uk and i got my upgrade (SE C905 to Samsung Galaxy Portal) but my new price plan doesnt come into affect untill the 14th of June, so i need to spend a month with Android and be stuck to Wifi what i was wondering is, when i put the new sim card in, will the contacts on the phone remain or will i have to go through the painful process of sorting them all again?

Jul 19, 2010I'm having a really irritating problem with my Hero (running Android 2.1 / villainRom9.0.0)
When I sync playlists to the device using any app (SongBird, DoubleTwist, JRiver Jukebox, etc) It has no problem adding and playing the music, finding the new MP3s etc. However, all the old playlists remain on the device long after being deleted. This is very annoying, and makes it practically impossible to use as I could have 3-4 different versions of a playlist and only one works. I can manually delete all these old playlists but it takes time, and I want it to update automatically.
Things I've tried:
SDRescan: No effect.
MusicScanner: Locks up, no effect
using AndExplorer/LindaFilemanager to do an SD card refresh : No effect
Writing my own APK to run
sendBroadcast(new Intent(Intent.ACTION_MEDIA_MOUNTED, Uri.parse("file://" + Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory())));
... No Effect.
Turning off the phone and rebooting: No effect.
I'm going a little crazy here, I've tried everything sane and reasonable and nothing is working. All I can find online are instances where SDrescan worked for people or they did a factory reset.
HTC Incredible :: ROM Update Nuked My SD Card - Can't Even View The Card
Aug 27, 2010So i just loaded one of the new ROMs based on todays OTA.
I did the nandroid. I did the titanium. i flashed using rom manager and selected clear cache/data.
ROM loaded perfectly.. and when i went to titanium to restore, nothing was there!
I plugged the phone into the computer, and i can't even view the card.
I can browse the phone's memory, but not the cards.
I'm hoping there's some adb command or something that'll fix this...
HTC Incredible :: OTA Update Rendered My SD Card Unreadable
Aug 31, 2010Just a word of warning - I installed the OTA update when it popped up and it installed just fine. However, my SD card is now completely useless. I cannot read it from my phone or computer. It doesn't even show that it is there. I lost all my photos and music. Bummer! Learn from my experience and remove the SD card before installing the update, just in case.

Sep 19, 2010Anytime my phone tries to do anything that might access the SD card, I get a notification that the card encountered an unexpected problem and was mounted as read-only. After a few searches, it seemed that unmounting and reformatting it might solve the problem. If that didn't help, erasing all phone data might fix the problem. Well, I wasn't able to unmount the SD card for some reason. That option wasn't ghosted out, but clicking on it didn't do anything. Eventually, I decided to just do the factory reset. Then I did a phone storage format.
After that I saw a tip that perhaps removing the card would help. What I did was remove it, booted the phone, and inserted it while it was on. This allowed me to unmount then format the SD card. The first thing I did was try to redownload some apps from the market. First on my list was google maps update. Immediately after clicking to download, I get the same notification that the SD card was mounted as read only as a result of an unexpected error. Given all this, is my card just junk after updating to froyo?
HTC Incredible :: Errors Mounting Phone And Sd Card After 2.2 Update
Sep 7, 2010Just updated to 2.2 and phone/sd card will mount to pc but then it randomly acts like it has been unplugged and plugged by in. For instance I was copying a 1gb file from the phone to the sd card and it was copying for all of 20 seconds then it was gone then it was back and wanted to know if I wanted to copy over the existing files that had been transfered before the disconnect (or whatever). It does this on both the sd card and the phone memory; anyone else have this problem? Have a solution? Oh, and this is done over the same usb cable I have been using for months without the slightest problem.

What I would like to do is create a clickable image/button, and when the user clicks or touches it, for it to remain clicked and highlighted so that they make click on several if they so choose.
I have tried, ImageButtons, Buttons, ImageViews, LayerDrawables(with a swapable background color drawable), ToggleButtons, CheckBoxes, derived my own CompoundButton, but nothing seems to work.
I was a teeny bit successful with a ImageButton where I could create it selected, but if the user clicked on it, I couldn't get that visual state back.

Jul 4, 2013I have a Samsung Galaxy Nexus running Jellybean 4.2.1. I am also running Nova Launcher V2.1.1. Every time I re-boot the phone I get prompted to select the default "Launcher" or "Nova". Selecting "always" has no effect on subsequent re-boots. I have also tried numerous apps to set the default launcher without success and tried clearing the defaults for the "stock" launcher. Any manual way to correct this problem by manipulating the relevant files on the phone? This problem only started once I installed the 4.2.1 OTA update.

Aug 30, 2010I have a virgin branded phone., It works with my 02 sim,so i guess it is unlocked? A few weeks a go I was prompted to install 2.2, unfortunatly it didn't work properly and my phone was bricked. I have just got my phone back from HTC after 3 long weeks and am amazed to find they havn't put the update on the phone. I have now used the option to see if there is an update for the phone and it says there isn't.Does anyone know if a Virgin branded phone with an 02 sim in it can get the update.

Jun 29, 2010After the update last night to 2.1. I can only read the files on the sd card. Deleting is not possible. Did a format with the phone and copied all over on the card, no luck. Putting the card in the PC. I can do everything with the files, copie, delete and so on. Then did a format with the pc fat32 and copied all back, again on the phone only read only.

Nov 26, 2010I didn't bother backing up my applications, as I had quite a few installed that I didn't need to keep. I made a simple list on paper, and reinstalled everything afterwards. One irritation is the the User Guide application now says that it can't find the User Guide on the SD card, and offers the online version. Does anyone know if the 2.1 version of the onboard User Guide can be downloaded, what it should be named, and what folder it should be in? Or could someone even e-mail it to me, with instructions as to where it should be put?
