So after yesterdays update, with which I had no problems with, my 32gb SD card started to switch to read-only.I have unmounted and rebooted my phone a few times and it will be fine for a while, but then it happens again. I haven't put my stock SD card back in yet, but has anyone else experienced this problem?
I am going to try formatting the card tonight and try again. Other suggestions?

I've had the evo since day 1. On the first day, HTC released a firmware update that included a fix for SD card corruption. I updated the firmware, then swapped out the 8gb card with a 16gb sandisk card I purchased at radio shack. It worked great until today. I shut off the phone, then turned it back on several minutes later. Once the phone reboots, I got a SD card damaged message at the top. I turned off the phone, reseated the microsd card, then turned it back on. Unfortunately, no matter how many times I have turned the phone on and off it still states that the SD card is damaged.
I've never rooted the phone, never dropped it, and its been great until today. I've seen this problem before with HTC made windows smart phones and I can't believe they can't get this right. I normally don't get too pissed out these kind of things, but this time I am. I'm on vacation and took lots of photos and I'm worried they're lost. I won't know until I get home. In the mean time, any suggestions? I will be calling HTC at some point today, but I'm sure they will be as much help as the firmware update that was suppose to fix this major issue. Are you having the same issue? What's the real fix?
I have just got an new phone from Orange. The PC companion is saying i can upgrade the software. Following the instuctions I get to the point where the phone is being prepared for update when I get a faild to start update components. What should I do

I did the nandroid. I did the titanium. i flashed using rom manager and selected clear cache/data.
ROM loaded perfectly.. and when i went to titanium to restore, nothing was there!
I plugged the phone into the computer, and i can't even view the card.
I can browse the phone's memory, but not the cards.
I'm hoping there's some adb command or something that'll fix this...
ive had this phone for 5 days, after switching from an iphone. its seems great but i found a trick which was Turning on USB Debugging mode after i found it was behaving quite laggy today. But since doing this the phone when turned completely off and turned back on again doesnt boot up as quick as when i first got it. It goes to a htc logo. then loads another htc logo, does the jingle, then says preparing the sd card, a limited services message comes up and then the phone loads up

Well I have a problem and need some help. So for no apparent reason I started getting an error with my sd card last night. At the notification bar, it says the sd card is mounted as read only. The phone gives me the option to try to fix it. It tries without success. I have tried resetting the phone and fidgeting with the card...both with no success. Its frustrating cause I can't take pictures as a result and all I see is that error message! Its an eyesore at the top of my screen.

The last line throws an IOException with detailMessage = "Cannot create: /sdcard/log.txt". The MOUNT_UNMOUNT_FILESYSTEMS permission is set in the manifest. And yes, I really do want to write to the SD card; I don't want to use the logging features Android includes for this particular application. The Android documentation does not seem to give any specifics on how one might write files to removable storage in "Data Storage" under "Framework Topics". What am I doing wrong, or where can I read more about this topic?
It seems that sometimes I can't take pictures due to permission errror on SD card. If i reboot the phone it'll work again. Anyone else get this? Also stops backup and others from running. Can see and load the photos on the SD fine though

The EVO 4 had a similar problem and HTC moved quickly to release an update which seems to have solved it.
I had heard that the bug could be caused by the auto-backup feature, so I had never used it. However, I recently turned auto-back up on and, low and behold, I get the error. A reboot fixes the problem and I have not had it again since, although I have turned auto-update off.
Some people say auto-update messes up the permissions, others say the supplied cards are of a low quality and prone to corruption... but does anyone know for sure?
Whilst the error is present, you cannot modify the contents of the card and cannot therefore take pictures etc.
Okay, so my phone has been freezing a lot lately, just locking up, going black. I couldn't find the issue, phone is rooted, tried many different roms, virtuous has been the best to me freeze wise. I wasn't even able to get through setup 99% of the time. I finally found out everything works fine when the sd card isn't in there (only 4 GB - class 2 / upgrading soon). It is formatted as FAT32. Do you think transferring all the files to my computer, reformatting it, and then putting all the files back on will fix the problem? Or have any other suggestions?

I fixed the files with my PC, now when I go to my gallery it say loading new albums and when its finished just an empty gallery.However, when I go into astro in the dcim folder I can view my pictures just fine. View 7 Replies View RelatedThis morning when I accidentally turned on then off again the Airplane Mode my phone came up with the SIM card error & had no reception whatsoever. I've tried all the turn the phone off,then on & battery out things etc, even a hard reset but still nothing. I've called Orange & the technical guy called me back but we didn't get anywhere then he said he'd have a word with his technical technical team & call me back.....I'm still waiting. He did say its more than likely a Android glitch. Any ideas what I can do to fix the problem? I don't have Orange Phone Insurance & have had the phone 2 months I hope they'll fix it for free...fingers crossed.

I see a lot of posts about writing to the SD card, but I believe my problem is different. I am unable to create the SD card during the process of building an AVD.
I initially tried to use the Android SDK and AVD Manager to do this, selecting
Name: my_avd
Target: Android 2.2 - API Level 8
SD Card: Size: 1024 MiB
Skin: Built-In: Default (HVGA)
Hardware: Property: Abstracted LCD Density, Value: 160
This pops up a window with the message:
"Result of creating AVD 'my_avd':

I tried to repeat the process from the command line, receiving a similar error:

Attempting to follow instructions for using mksdcard was equally unproductive; I think my basic lack of linux experience may be causing me a problem here. When I try to use mksdcard, it just reports that it cannot find the file or directory. Is the mksdcard tool available for use this way in linux?

I've added the android tools directory to my PATH variable, but I feel like there is obviously something else I'm missing. Perhaps some kind of access rights?

I even tried installing Eclipse and the ADT plugin and running the manager from there to no avail. Any tips would be most appreciated. Advanced warning that I am somewhat of a novice Linux user, so even if it seems like a no-brainer obvious thing to check, I could still have missed it.
I have tried on 3 occasions today to update to froyo with no success. Thing is when my Desire goes to save data on my SD card I get this message; "an error occurred while saving your data to your SD card, the backup cannot be completed."
Can anyone advise me as to what to do as I can't proceed any further. By the way my Desire is sim free if this in anyway helps.
After I flashed the latest firmware with ODIN my phone doesn't read sd cards anymore and when I go to "SD card and phone storage" in settings I see "unavailable" in total space and free space for both sdcard and USB storage.

It was originally a 3uk phone, but I unlocked it and use with Orange. The update was from the 3uk network I presume as originally a 3uk phone. Haven't had any major problem with 3g before the update.Anyone else having this problem, or any ideas on how to fix it?

Have downloaded the ruu and tried to run the update but I get the usb connection error[170].
I am running W7 and have the latest version of HTC Sync installed, 2.0.33
I have no errors on the device manager for the ADB interface, it shows as a HTC Dream.
Please don't suggest using a Win XP machine as I don't have access to one, all mine at home are W7 machines as are the ones at work.
I know my phone is connected correctly because I can browse the sd card from the pc to back up my music and photos.
This is a branded Orange Hero that is still as it came out of the box regarding the firmware and build number (2.73.61.5)
My phone was (still is) getting VERY hot and the battery life was getting bad, all started w/in a week or so, seemingly after the last (not current) Launcherpro update. So I did a battery pull. Well, now I'm getting the 'damaged sd card' error, I've rebooted but still get it.

I recently stopped using any other sms app, other than the stock, i had VR12 before, now Froydvillain 1.5 and everytime i want to save a picture from a MMS i recieve, i get the following error

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have put all of my music on my SD card (all 55Gb of it) but only about 300 of my 4500 songs will actually play!Most of them get a playback error.
I notice it groups all of the songs that don't work in a folder with an unknown artist. I have yet to work out why this does this as most if not all of my music has all the track information in it.
I even went as far to convert all of my songs to mp3 to see if that made a difference. It didn't, it actually made it worse..I cannot have my music collection on my phone I am going to sell my S4 and buy another iPhone.
