Jun 13, 2012
Briefly, I need ONLY ONE of my apps to access the data mobile network while the other ones remain blocked but when I connect to a Wi-Fi I need them all to be connected, how can I do this?

At the first loading of flashed rom checkbox "Data Allowed" in the Mobile Network Settings ENABLED by default.
I do not use unlimited Internet therefore.
I need some flashable patch update.zip which I can flash after the rom for switching this option to DISABLE.
It is Really? Where android save this setting?

I'm a SGS2 owner on T-Mobile and a university student. Yesterday morning my phone anomylously deregistered itself from my network, displaying the error message "Not registered on network" whenever I attmpted to make a call.
I phoned Samsung and T-Mobile and resolved the issue by a 'Network Refresh' and manually registering the phone to T-Mobile. I registered manually and had the phone working hours before I got the text from my NSP telling me that I had recieved a network refresh. About which time I noticed that my 3G was not connecting, and has yet to establish a connection today.

I seem to be seeing an issue with the data network access on the EVO. When it happens none of my applications get internet aceess and my mobile network status says "turning on". The only way I've found to fix it is to pull the battery. Any one else seeing this? If so is there a better fix than pulling the battery?

My eris has always has pretty alright battery life, what I would expect out of a smartphone, if unplugged at 9AM it usually was running on its last leg around midnight. I've had it for over 5 months now, I've always had it activated on alltel, I installed the 2.1v3 leak before the official OTA was out and just lately it seems like there something very wrong with my battery life...
If I unplug my phone at 9AM within the past week and occasionaly check and respond to a text message, my battery had been down to almost 30% by NOON... what?..
I have noticed that if I disable Mobile Network (3g/1x data), the thing lasts all day and some... If I turn mobile network ON, I can't see that I have any network traffic or any apps running in the background that are syncing data at all... I've had google account sync mess up on me before and have to reset my google account because it gets stuck in a syncing loop, but its not doing that, already checked. Very weird.
Anyone thing it could be something wrong in my ##PROGRAM#/##778# provisioning menu, maybe something got changed?.. Maybe it could be do to Alltel's AT&T merger that's happening right now, maybe some 3G tower's radios are turned off or something...

How can I set my Galaxy Nexus to prefer WiFi for data over the Mobile Network? I have to go to settings, turn off "enable data access over mobile network," then cycle WiFi on-off several times before the phone will connect to my home router. Router has two channels, both a WPA2 encrypted one, and a "home guest" (open) one. Both show up as disabled until I cycle the WiFi off and on several times. There must be a setting to tell the phone to prefer WiFi -- no?

I am trying to fix a faulty device, which bootloop very frequently, due to a faulty kernel / audio driver. I've found the problem checking logcats, as well as logcats during the boot sequence.
How to fix the audio driver, here's the thread: [URL] ......
I would like to access ADB from this device, but I cannot get the device detected at all.
USB debugging is definitely enabled, and the device driver is also installed (Not even sure if I had to install a driver for this 2011 device in first place. Device is detected by computer without a problem).
If I type:
Code:
adb devices
The output is just: "List of devices attached" with a blank line.
If I try:
Code:
adb shell
This show up:
Code:
error: device not found
I can tell that ADB is working for another device - I had a LG-P500, and ADB is succesfully working for this phone.
The faulty device is a Creative ZEN Touch 2, but the name won't be of any support. Let's just pretend it's a generic Android device (Even thought no such Android exists) and forget about the name. The ROM installed on it (Froyo, 2.2.1) was customized by Creative, the manufacturer, since it's not a phone, just a multimedia device.
I was wondering if Creative "blocked" any access to ADB, if that's possible. I do know that Creative "does not encourage self-repair", according to the forums.
I also tried ADB wireless, I pressed the grey button that turned green, and then typed adb connect xxx.xxx.x.108 (IP). On the shell, I got the error:
Code:
unable to connect to xxx.xxx.x.108:5555
Altought I wasn't able to connect wirelessly to ADB using my LG phone, neither.
On the ZEN Touch 2, I found the file default.prop, which contain this:
Code:
#
# ADDITIONAL_DEFAULT_PROPERTIES
#
ro.secure=1
ro.allow.mock.location=0
ro.debuggable=0
persist.service.adb.enable=0
What the default.prop file is about, but I was wondering if the line "persist.service.adb.enable" being equal to 0 / false, could block the access to ADB shell, in some way (if that's possible). I've read that this file is hard to modify, other than flash a new boot image.
What could I do to access ADB on this device ? Yes, the device is rooted.
I have access to a Linux operating system, if that can make the detection easier. Although I do not have ADB installed on this OS, yet.

I had my LG Optimus rooted successfully using Motochopper but I ended up getting a update and it removed the root, I re-ran Motochopper like five times and not a single was successful so I'm assuming that update patched the exploit.
Is there anyway I can root it other than Motochopper or anyway I can get Motochopper to work again..?

My Galaxy S3 suddenly blocked my access to reddit. I originally thought this was down to AdFree (for some reason) blocking it, so I have uninstalled that but it made no difference. I also noticed today that when I tried to follow someones link to a buzzfeed page that it was also blocked. Now these are some oddly specific blocks so I have a feeling that my phone may be hacked or downloaded something it shouldn't.
the culprit that is blocking my access? Will I have to format my device and start fresh?I used to browse reddit daily but its been a few weeks now....

i port/cook roms and i have a restricted access to my pc due to which i sometimes have to use my phone to upload files to dropbox but due to multiple downloads my account gets blocked for public access. I wanted to ask that if I put all my roms in a folder and share a link to that folder to my rom users,then will my account still get blocked for heavy traffic?

I purchased a Chinese Android mobile which has the MTK6573 chipset. It is called a Star A3.
Love the phone however I regularly see the alert/error "Restricted access changed" in the status bar and the signal drops off both SIMS. If I pull down the status bar and check details it says "Voice call service blocked".
What is interesting is that it is always the Vodafone NZ SIM card even if I swap cards between SIM slots. Other SIM is 2Degrees.
I've searched the internet but there seems very little info on this subject other than to say that some HD9 users have had the same issue and have Spice Mi 350n users.
It could be a IMEI issue but I'm not so sure.
I've turned off my SIM data connection which was linked to my 2Degrees SIM and now both SIMS manifest the same error. If I re-enable data on the 2Degrees SIM only the Vodafone SIM gives the error ***

I have been trying to find a way of quickly switching off/on the Mobile Network setting from the home screen. When searching Google there's loads of pages stating that it is an HTC Widget that can be added. I have checked all the widgets on the Desire HD and cannot seem to find it anywhere. I am using an unbranded handset.
The Desire HD manual even states "You can also add widgets that allow you to quickly switch on or off certain settings of your phone, such as Wi-Fi, Mobile Network...".
Does anyone else with an HD handset have this widget ?

I have been struggling to make phone calls/send texts/go online without turning on WiFi. My phone rarely connects to the 4G network that I know is strong , because my dad's identical Galaxy S3 is quick to connect to it. My phone rarely connects to Edge either now. When I go into the "Search Mobile Networks" tab my phone just keeps searching and searching... and searching. I thought I had the solution a moment ago when I turned on and off Airplane Mode. My phone connected to 4G for a moment and I was able to send one text, but then it dropped back into nothingness. In addition, it takes nearly 30 seconds to switch into airplane mode after I select it.It's not the sim card because I tried it on a different phone and it works fine. My dad's a cynic when it comes to rooting and he's saying it might be because I rooted my phone, but this issue started two to three weeks after I rooted... is rooting a potential cause?

i just got a new Acer A211, inserted a SIM-Card. I was prompted to enter the pin, SIM was unlocked, the Statusbar says "3G, 3 Bars", but i'm offline.
Under "wireless and networks (Drahtlos und Netzwerke)", "more settings (Weitere Einstellungen)", the submenu "mobile networks (Mobile Netzwerke)" is missing - on my galaxyS2 it's there.
Acer hotline advised me to Factory-Reset, no changes.
btw - the names for the menues are just guesses - OS is german.

In android 4.0 and above there is the option in the data usage settings, to turn mobile data on and off. What difference does it exactly make? As fas as I tested, I still can take a look at my mobile data usage, even though it is tuned off in the data usage settings.
According to this source of Google
[URL]
turning it off means:
Quote:
If it's off, you won't be able to use mobile data at all and many features of your phone and apps won't work correctly.
what they mean by "...use mobile data at all..." (since I still have 3G) and what features there could be?

Android Version: 2.2 T-Mobile branded
Network: Base - a brand of e-plus, Germany
Taskiller Used: None
Issue: Switch on tethering OR mobile hotspot ->mobile network dies
I've installed Froyo on a T-Mobile branded Desire. After the update, turning on USB tethering leads to immediate loss of mobile network - it just turns itself off. Same goes for the mobile Wifi hotspot: turn on -> for 2 seconds, it's working -> mobile network drops off. Moving into airplane mode and back brings back the network, but tethering is a goner. With 2.1, USB tethering had worked. I'm on Base, a brand of e-plus. I've talked to their customer services, they say Base absolutely supports tethering.
