I need some clarification regarding Updating android OS version. Currently my mobile is running on android-1.6 and i have installed so many applications, some of them are dealing with the databases. If i update my mobile with android 2.1 version, will the data still remains same? What about the Preference variables information that are saved in the android phone memory if i do FACTORY RESET?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a tab widget where one of the tabs is a chat-type feature. I want to update the chat data at an interval (variable depending on whether the chat tab is active or not).
The best approach seemed to be using an AsyncTask in my main TabActivity class, as that would avoid any issues of the chat activity being destroyed while in the background, while an AsyncTask was running. I wanted to ensure that the Activity isn't destroyed and recreated, thus causing my AsyncTask to be unable to modify the actual active Activity's data.
However, now that my AsyncTask is in the TabActivity activity, I don't have a direct way to call my Chat's ListAdapter notifyDataSetChanged() from my onPostExecute() method anymore. Is there a way to get a reference to a given Tab's current Activity from the TabHost/TabActivity?
Or, alternatively, can I assume my chat activity will never be destroyed as a child activity of the TabActivity activity (well, never destroyed while the TabActivity is active at least), and then just put the AsyncTask in the Chat Activity?
I have implemented Section Indexer for an Adapter class which extends BaseAdapter.Now for the first launch Section Indexer is showing an overlay correctly. But when the contents of the list gets updated the Section Overlay does not get updated and gives ArrayOutOfBoundException. Now what happens is overlay gets updated but the Overlay is coming to the left top of the listview.

What I would like to do is create a clickable image/button, and when the user clicks or touches it, for it to remain clicked and highlighted so that they make click on several if they so choose.
I have tried, ImageButtons, Buttons, ImageViews, LayerDrawables(with a swapable background color drawable), ToggleButtons, CheckBoxes, derived my own CompoundButton, but nothing seems to work.
I was a teeny bit successful with a ImageButton where I could create it selected, but if the user clicked on it, I couldn't get that visual state back.

When I sync playlists to the device using any app (SongBird, DoubleTwist, JRiver Jukebox, etc) It has no problem adding and playing the music, finding the new MP3s etc. However, all the old playlists remain on the device long after being deleted. This is very annoying, and makes it practically impossible to use as I could have 3-4 different versions of a playlist and only one works. I can manually delete all these old playlists but it takes time, and I want it to update automatically.
Things I've tried:
SDRescan: No effect.
MusicScanner: Locks up, no effect
using AndExplorer/LindaFilemanager to do an SD card refresh : No effect
Writing my own APK to run
sendBroadcast(new Intent(Intent.ACTION_MEDIA_MOUNTED, Uri.parse("file://" + Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory())));
... No Effect.
Turning off the phone and rebooting: No effect.
I'm going a little crazy here, I've tried everything sane and reasonable and nothing is working. All I can find online are instances where SDrescan worked for people or they did a factory reset.
Is there a time limit your downloaded emails remain on your legend? Over the past 2 weeks or so I have noticed emails falling off. This morning I woke up to find them all gone? Maybe I havent got it set up correctly

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Samsung Galaxy Nexus running Jellybean 4.2.1. I am also running Nova Launcher V2.1.1. Every time I re-boot the phone I get prompted to select the default "Launcher" or "Nova". Selecting "always" has no effect on subsequent re-boots. I have also tried numerous apps to set the default launcher without success and tried clearing the defaults for the "stock" launcher. Any manual way to correct this problem by manipulating the relevant files on the phone? This problem only started once I installed the 4.2.1 OTA update.

So i look at my clock widget two hours later and it is an hour behind. Happens to ALL my widgets.Even the quick turn on/off wifi,bt,gps and such. They just stop updating/showing animation.I have ADW launcher installed. I am wondering if it is that. I do not really want to remove it as i hate the stock 3 button interface at the bottom (why do i need a contacts and phone, just use the phone to look thru contacts, wasted space IMO) and am quite keen on keeping the 5 button.Any ideas? If i power off the phone and turn it back on it's fine again for about an hour. SOmetimes randomly thru the day it will start updating and working fine again then randomly stop again.
