HTC Incredible :: Setting Up Contact Ringtones
Apr 22, 2010Im having a problem with getting individual ringtones set up. I download a few from mabilo ringtones but when i set them to my contacts it only plays the default one. I tried re-writing the download with ringdroid but that didnt work either. Any help or advice.

It appears that Android on the Incredible is different, so opening a contact, (people) on the Inc is nto the same as the Droid and edit/ringtone is not available.Can anyone give me a step by step of how to assign a specific ringtone to someone in my people/(contact) list?

Sep 10, 2010I finally did a factory reset after installing the froyo update and now have my phone set up just about how it was before. Problem is,I have 180+ Google contacts sorted into 11 different groups and I want to assign a specific ringtone for each group. I did this some time ago before the upgrade for each individual contact but I just don't want to do it again. Yeah I'm lazy but what can I say I thought restoring my contacts would have kept the ringtones synced but it did not.I haven't found an app that will do it (a free app anyway).

Dec 30, 2009I got my wife a Hero and everything works appart for this. I have copied my MP3 files into a Music folder on the SD card. I then used ringdroid to pick one of these and convert it into a ringtone and assigned it to a contact.This created the folder /media/audio/ringtones on the SD card which contained my new ringtone. I checked the contact in the People application and the ringtone is correctly assigned to them. This ringtone is also in the dropdown list so I can manually add it to other contacts in the People application.However whenever I ring the Hero from the phone associated with this contact I always get the default ringtone and not the custom one.
I have rebooted the device and this does not make a difference.I can set the new ringtone to be the default ringtone and then it plays, but for all users.I have tried everything here, including doing a factory reset for the phone, but I just cannot get this working and this is something my wife needs.

May 7, 2010I had this problem in 2.1v2, I installed v3, and it first, all was well, then yesterday I noticed the same thing...none of my custom set ring tones are being used. phone always rings with the system default.
I can change that, and it rings that tone, but any I assign to a contact don't work.
I haven't installed any ring tone managers or anything, I can't think of what would be messing with it, but it is friggin annoying!

On my SD card I made a directory media/audio/ringtones. when I tried to set a custom ringtone for a contact it didn't list the ones I put on the card. I also tried (With Astro) to place them in the same directory on the phones storage and it wouldn't let me paste to the directory. Are all ringers and notification sounds in mp3 format?

Sep 7, 2010Some Contacts defaulted to the Contact Details as a primary. I have tried changing the primary to the call number I want for the primary. It does not seem to work. Please tell me if I am doing this correctly. I press the people button on the home page, then I press the photo of the Contact I want to view. Then I press the Index Card Icon. I am now looking at the Contacts Details. I hold down the phone number I want to make primary. It never gives me the Make Primary Option. If the Contact shows no Primary, I can set a Primary. But if the Contact already shows a wrong Primary, I can't change it.

My problem lies already in the first three lines. The contact does not seem to be stored. However, consecutive runs of this show, that the internal ID is increased nonetheless.
Is there something I am missing? Do you have to "commit" the changes?
