Motorola Droid X : Can I Highlight Text / Bring Up Magnifying Glass?
Oct 26, 2010First and foremost I want to be able to use the magnifying glass to relocate my cursor whenever I'm mid-text and realize that I've made a mistake while typing. Sure, I can just take a stab at the screen and hope I get it in the right place with one touch, but sometimes that doesn't work. For example: at the edge of the text box, next to the "send" button (landscape mode). I don't really like having to poke at the small space between the last word in my message and the send button after I've gone back to correct a letter or two. I've missed and hit "send" before. That's no good.
On rare occasions I can get the magnifying glass to come up, but it's usually a game of chance for me. If I hold my finger down on the screen to bring it up, a menu pops up. How can I bring up the magnifying glass a la iPod Touch for sifting through my messages?
After that, how do I highlight text for copying and pasting purposes?

Dec 17, 2009Is there a way to disable it? I just double tap to zoom on a web page and never use the magnifying glass popup thingy, it seems to always be in the way (it annoys me) and would like to hide/disable it. Can it be done?

May 24, 2010So i was out the other night with a few friends and we decided to race our phones going to various web sites. We laid all three phones down in a triangle next to each other. We would all type in the same web site and hit go at the same time. My incredible was killing them. Compared to the droid, the incredible would load the site about 5 seconds faster. The iphone was not even close. One site took about 15 to 20 seconds longer to load on the iPhone. They were shocked at how fast the incredible was. I am so glad I have this phone!

HTC Desire HD :: Smoothness Compared To Iphone - Slow Browsing?
Nov 14, 2010I have been checking both XDA and this forum about everything on Htc Desire HD. I have not seen a live demo of the phone yet, but so far I love the Sense UI, Android OS, Size and look of the phone. My gf is getting a Iphone 4, I think it�s an awesome phone but don�t like the UI, size or look of the phone. One thing I do like though is the speed in menus and browser. So I have a few questions. I have heard alot of complaints about lag on Desire HD but that it�s been fixed with the USB debug thing. So how is the smoothness now compared to the Iphone? Browsing on the internet seems a bit choppy, is it because of flash? can I turn it off so it runs better?

I'm pretty sure that if I open up the browser, most of the time it will take you back to the last page you were on.
But if i click on a link in gmail that takes me to this site, for instance, then I get a text message, i cant read my text message without having to back out of the webpage i'm on and loosing my spot.
Which is pretty frustrating.
Is there something I'm overlooking?
Or maybe a different browser?

May 6, 2010Last week I contacted HTC and asked them if the Incredible's screen was indeed glass (since whatever they do, it tends to feel like plastic compared to other phones) and whether it had an oleophobic coating. You mainly can only see it in direct light and when I try to look at the screen from the side, you can not see the line(unlike a scratch u would you could see it at all angles). I can use Facebook, play games, look at wikidroid, etc. and battery life seems "normal" but while using the browser it will use 10 percent in 10 minutes. I have timed it, I was at 60 percent, browsed the forums here for 10 minutes and was at 51 percent afterwards. Is this normal?
I am rooted and have 2.2, I have tried the stock browser and Dolphin HD and both do the same thing.

A button occupies some space on the right part of EditText, and now characters display beneath the button. How to change maximum shown length of input for EditText? I want EditText width to be N pixels, and editable area to be N-M pixels.
EditText.setWidth changes width for whole edit box. EditText.setEllipsize should be the proper solution, but docs are empty, and as I see it truncates text based on some String value. Applying a LengthFilter cut's the input length to number of characters.
General :: Unable To Text People With IPhone?
Nov 12, 2013I had an iPhone 4S but upgraded to the HTC.
For some reason I can't text people with an iPhone. I still have the 4S and I turned iMessage off. I went on the Apple Support site and looked at the devices and clicked the "X" to unregister my phone and my macbook.
Im still not able to receive texts from people with an iphone. I can send them messages but can not get them back. I am also able to send and receive calls.
