Motorola Droid :: Magnifying Glass - Disable It?

Dec 17, 2009

Is there a way to disable it? I just double tap to zoom on a web page and never use the magnifying glass popup thingy, it seems to always be in the way (it annoys me) and would like to hide/disable it. Can it be done?

Motorola Droid X : Can I Highlight Text / Bring Up Magnifying Glass?

Oct 26, 2010

First and foremost I want to be able to use the magnifying glass to relocate my cursor whenever I'm mid-text and realize that I've made a mistake while typing. Sure, I can just take a stab at the screen and hope I get it in the right place with one touch, but sometimes that doesn't work. For example: at the edge of the text box, next to the "send" button (landscape mode). I don't really like having to poke at the small space between the last word in my message and the send button after I've gone back to correct a letter or two. I've missed and hit "send" before. That's no good.

On rare occasions I can get the magnifying glass to come up, but it's usually a game of chance for me. If I hold my finger down on the screen to bring it up, a menu pops up. How can I bring up the magnifying glass a la iPod Touch for sifting through my messages?

After that, how do I highlight text for copying and pasting purposes?

Motorola Droid : Should I Delete Smoked Glass Files From Sd Card

Mar 7, 2010

Just got my Droid working perfect today, I was sooo happy. I am running Smoked Glass V5.0 overclocked at 900 mhz and loving it.

I decided to play with tethering. Got it going on my mac just great. I tapped the stop tethering and after Wifi Tethering shut off I pulled the usb cable without amounting, ohoh. I am usually so careful about this as my Mac get angry at me if I don't.

Now this is the only thing I can think of because then my beautiful widgets wouldn't work right stating it needs an sd card to operate.

Hmm, what's that all about I thought..yep went through the settings and the droid is not seeing it. Pulled and reinserted the sd card number of times. Soft reset a few and even Advanced restored from recently and still does not read it.

My Mac reads the card without a problem through a card reader. So I got this brainstorm to back it up, do a disk repair to see if that helps. No dice...

I erased the disc on the mac hoping the droid would see it and I could format it from in there, no go.

Finally I restored everything after formatting it on my mac and still it does not see it.

The droid just goes into a 3 time boot cycle then it says preparing the sd card, then it freezes and boots again finally to a working state. Of course without my sd card.

So I guess I ruined the sd card by pulling it without amounting? I have the insurance on this so I was thinking to Advance Restore to my status prior to rooting then walk in to Verizon and just say it stopped working.

Do I have to be more cautious and delete the smoked glass files from my sd card or just leave as is. I have everything backed up on my mac so I could just throw the restore file back on there if they replace the sd card for me or if I need to delete all those files to be safe and not jeopardize the warranty.Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated.

Motorola Droid :: Delete Market History & More

May 13, 2010

If you already know how to do this, I apologize. I just thought I'd let people know there's an app that actually successfully erases the market history! I found it last night when I was trying to find a way to delete my "Frequent Calls" list (Worst thing ever!). It's called HistoryEraser. It successfully erased my entire Market History. It also resets frequent calls, google maps searches, call logs, and browser history. Enjoy.

HTC EVO 4G :: Not Showing Icons / Images On Website Without Deleting Cache / History / Restart Phone?

Jun 30, 2010

I think my evo is starting to lose itself. It's been doing some weird stuff lately. Not showing icons/images on website unless I deleted the cache/history/restart the phone. I also lost pinch to zoom until I restarted the phone. It has done the icon thing twice. A couple of minutes ago, it restarted itself. I'm concerned but so far it's not enough to justify a trip to the store. I would return it and get another one but the store would charge me $35.

HTC EVO 4G :: Delete A Single Entry In Call History

Aug 11, 2010

Is there a way to delete a single entry in your call history without deleting the rest of your call history? I've been going through all the menus but I can't seem to find a way to delete just one number.

Also, I used to own a Palm Treo 650 (Palm OS). With it, you could literally hide single contacts by setting a contact privacy password. This setting was deep in the settings and upon finishing setting it up, you could password lock that menu as well, the title of it and all. So this way, if you hand your phone to a colleague for them to make a quick call, they can't go through your phonebook or recents to try to get your numbers.

I bring this up because a few years ago, this lady I worked with let another co-worker use her phone to make a call and the lady ended up copying a specific number from the woman's recent list without her knowledge. She took the number and harassed the person so much they had to get a restraining order on her. And it was later found out the only way she could have gotten the number is the time she let the woman use her phone.

Call me paranoid but the Treo offered that security feature and I haven't seen it since. Is there any way to do this on the EVO that I just may be missing?

Also, does anyone know of something like a "guest mode" app on the marketplace where the guest can only use what you allow them to and not have access to recents or phonebook, like, just the core function, like sms/mms, net, phone, or calc, etc.

HTC Incredible :: How To Delete Email History That Are Not Contacts?

Jul 5, 2010

So i asked this question before, but it was about the time everyone was getting their D-Inc's and it was chaos in this forum, and no one quite understood my question. How do we delete a mail address from history. For example, i emailed JoeSmith @aol.com (who is not in my contact list), and realized that it should be JoeSmith @yahoo.com, now everytime i go to send an email, starting with the letter J, i see both the yahoo and aol email addresses and it says "history" to the right. I tried the "history cleaner" app, and also looked everywhere, but i can't find out how to delete email history anywhere. This happened about 5 times so far, so each time i go to email one of these 5 people, both email addresses come up and 50% of the time i'm choosing the wrong address because i forget that it was input wrong the very first time. Since it says history on the right of the email address, i can only assume there is a history marker somewhere showing me all the emails i've sent, but i cant seem to find it. I want to get these email addresses out of there because i'm always choosing the wrong one, and because i have OCD and can't STAND the fact that there is a wrong email address there. I tried to LONG press, and thought maybe i can delete from there like long pressing a text, or a full conversation, but no luck. Anyone have any info on this?

Motorola :: Gorilla Glass On The Droid X?

Jul 22, 2010

Ok, so now mostly everyone has had time to play with their Droid X, and yet everyone is still worried about possibly scratching the screen on their phone. My question is does the phone has gorilla glass or not?? I saw some Youtube vids where a guy takes a key to the screen and tries to scratch the hell out of it. Yet, not a single visible scratch is seen. Can someone verify that it does have gorilla glass and therefore doesn't really need a screen protector other than for smudge proofing.
