I want to do a factory reset to fix this browsing lag issue, but I have the NFL mobile app and I am getting it free because I was grandfathered in. If I do a reset and install the app again, will that mess me up and force me to pay for the service? Also how do I backup apps?

For people who have done this before, what are some things you've overlooked for backing up your phone beforehand? I manage all of my contacts and calendar in Outlook on my PC, and I've been using AppBrain for tracking my downloaded apps so I'm not worried about that stuff. I plan on backing up my most used programs with their built in export functions. I have no problem re-doing most of my phone's settings. Is there any way to back up my custom scenes? I have a ton of shortcuts created that would be nice to keep.

A Verizon tech installed Backup Assistant onto my phone when he transferred my old contacts to my Incredible, and I see it running in the background all the time. Is this enough for my 'backup' when i do a factory reset? I don't see an actual app or anything. Thanks in advance for the help!

I'm pretty sure that other carriers didn't force a hard reset, but hey ho, cest la vie. Anyway, could anyone post me an idiot's guide to what I need to back up, and how I go about it? I am going to do a factory reset of my phone and want to return it to the state it is currently in including all apps, app info (like game saves, etc), contacts, text history, pictures, etc. What is the proper protocol to get my phone back to the state it is in now? I have taken screenshots of my 7 homecreens already. I do not want to lose any of my game save info (for tower raiders for instance) nor my text message history. Will TB back all that up and restore? Is it necessary to reformat the SD card also? And if so, should I make a separate backup of the SD card to my PC before reformatting it? ottom line: Does TB do a comprehensive enough backup to get my phone back to the state it is in now or are there other measures one should take before doing a factory reset.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've recently done a factory reset and now Titanium Backup crashes every time I try and backup/restore an app. It used to work fine but now I've reinstalled it and copied the 'TitaniumBackup' folder (that contains the backups) to where it was, so everything is as it was pre factory reset.
The uninstalled apps show up as normal with a line through, but if I select one it hangs momentarily and I get an error (Unfortunately Titanium Backup has stopped. Report/OK). I've cleared app data and uninstalled/reinstalled TB. This also happens if I select an app that I haven't previously uninstalled, so it's not just having a problem with my backup files.
A little advice please. i have been messing around constantly with my desire since i had it, about 3 weeks. Installing apps, uninstalling apps, etc, etc. It has become a little laggy, certainly not as fast as when it first arrived. The main things that concern me are how to backup all of my contacts, including their pictures. As this has taken me some time to compile. I have backed up my contacts to the sd card, but i dont think this does the pictures as well.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI'm stuck between a rock and a hard place (from what I can tell). Story as follows: Purchased a milestone from telus and unlocked in order to my current account. Previous SIM card was old and did not recognise Wifi, no data plan when phone first arrived therefore could not account sync with Google. New SIM card fixed wifi problem, data plan now on board. Still cannot sync accounts (can't establish reliable connection with server error message). Online research reco'd pulling out sim card/sd card which did not make a difference, and other minor setting variations all of which made no difference. Looks like a factory reset will resolve the issue but I would like to back up my SMS history as my understanding is that I will lose all SMS/MMS with the reset. (Other data is already backed up no problem). The dilemma is - apps to backup SMS history are available through android market. I cannot access android market as my phone will not account sync. Is there a way to dl an app online through my computer and then manually dump it to the phone? Is there a file where SMS are stored on the phone that will be recognized when the Milestone is connected to my computer? I feel like I'm going in circles(perhaps blindly) and would appreciate any geek-insight. I do not wish to root the phone as I do not have enough knowledge in this direction.

The secret? He has completely disabled the Froyo feature that restores data from previous installs. It's really just a matter of turning off the automatic restore feature before logging back into your Google account. It's a little odd that "Automatic Restore" is still checked by default, even when "Back up my data" isn't, but there you go.The method isn't too painful and does require one more factory reset, but the payoff appears to be a much smoother experience. We've verified it here, a hard reset in Froyo isn't really a hard reset, as things come back by themselves. Follow Fabrian's instructions, and you will have a pristine Froyo installation on your Droid X (or Nexus One -- Sense on Froyo has no setting for this that we could find). Any troublemaking leftovers will be no more, and won't get downloaded and installed automatically again. If you're being plagued with myriad tiny bugs in your Droid X after the update, give it a try! I am using XOLO A1000. Recently I experienced a problem in my phone.The rear camera option got disappeared from camera function. I can use only front camera. I contacted XOLO care and they suggested me to apply FACTORY DATA RESET option.

I've had some odd problems since my Froyo update, calls going straight to voicemail and people not hearing me when I make or receive calls - all intermittent of course! I've decided I'm going to reset to factory and just back up texts and contacts, I'll just reinstall the apps afterwards - probably don't need half of them anyway.. Question is they are all installed on my SD card now, will factory reset get rid of them from the mem card? View 3 Replies View RelatedI have installed some apps from Android Market to my Galaxy y. I needed to reset the factory settings and all the apps in the phone was erased. I only wanted to delete the email account. I tried to go to Android Market to reinstall. But it won't get in my phone anymore even when I click on install. There is a button that says installed. I checked on "manage account" setting and none of the applications are there. From Android market, when I click on "My Library" I see all the apps that I have downloaded before.
Question: Is it not possible to reinstall these free apps again? If so how do I do it?
I have an Orange UK branded HTC Desire HD running stock firmware & NOT rooted. Since the fairly recent 2.3.5 update with Sense 3.0 I have found that I am regularly seeing Sense restart upon exiting an app and returning to the home screen. This is not related to a particular app, as it can happen when returning to home from ANY app. My wife is seeing the same behaviour on hers too.
Having posted on both HTC's & Orange's Facebook pages, I have been advised in no uncertain terms that as a first step I should perform a factory reset.
This is something that I have not done since I got my DHD (my 1st Android - plenty of hard resets on WM ). I have had a bit of a tidy up - clearing unnecessary data, uninstalling apps I don't use, etc. Pretty much ready to reset (but aware that there is SOME data that I will lose). However, there is one thing that I am unsure about...
I have previously moved a number of apps to the SD card. If I leave them there, will the existing data be recognised upon reinstalling the apps? Or will it cause me problems? Or will the existing data just be orphaned? I.e. should I move all apps back to the phone before performing the reset?
I factory reset my old unused S3 and I'm now trying to re-purpose it (as a wifi only device). The problem is when I re-add my Google account to it, Google Play automatically starts re-downloading ALL my apps to it and I don't want that (probably over 100) - I just need 4 to 5 apps from that account re-downloaded (I don't mind doing it manually). How do I get Google Play to NOT automatically re-download all those apps?

Since installing my phone has been a little sluggish and the battery life isn't as good as 2.1. I'm considering doing a factory reset since that's what has helped some people. A few questions though:
1) How do I do a factory reset?

I have not seen this mentioned anywhere. I don't want to reset my phone if its not necessary. Also the SD card, can it have anything on it prior to root, or does it have to be formatted(blank)? I'm close to giving up.

Before I did, I did a factory reset, to remove my data from the phone but maintain root status for the new user. The guy who bought the phone from me is having trouble accessing the mobile network now. We had a devil of a time just activating the phone on his number. Verizon helped us manually activate it eventually. Anyway, any ideas what might be causing the problem? I've sent him directions for unrooting the phone to see if that fixes it. Any other suggestions or ideas why it might have happened?
