Motorola Droid X : Can I Highlight Text / Bring Up Magnifying Glass?

Oct 26, 2010

First and foremost I want to be able to use the magnifying glass to relocate my cursor whenever I'm mid-text and realize that I've made a mistake while typing. Sure, I can just take a stab at the screen and hope I get it in the right place with one touch, but sometimes that doesn't work. For example: at the edge of the text box, next to the "send" button (landscape mode). I don't really like having to poke at the small space between the last word in my message and the send button after I've gone back to correct a letter or two. I've missed and hit "send" before. That's no good.

On rare occasions I can get the magnifying glass to come up, but it's usually a game of chance for me. If I hold my finger down on the screen to bring it up, a menu pops up. How can I bring up the magnifying glass a la iPod Touch for sifting through my messages?

After that, how do I highlight text for copying and pasting purposes?

HTC Droid Eris :: Check A Text Message While Browsing Web?

Apr 27, 2010

Is there a way that I can check a text message while on the web, then return to the same spot I was?

I'm pretty sure that if I open up the browser, most of the time it will take you back to the last page you were on.

But if i click on a link in gmail that takes me to this site, for instance, then I get a text message, i cant read my text message without having to back out of the webpage i'm on and loosing my spot.
Which is pretty frustrating.

Is there something I'm overlooking?
Or maybe a different browser?

HTC Hero :: Offline Browsing / "save Web Page"

Sep 28, 2009

Some time ago we discussed in a separate thread whether it was possible to save web pages from the Browser app for browsing off-line when an internet connection was not available. At the time the simplest workaround that was suggested involved emailing a link to oneself, opening the link and saving the web page on a PC, then copying the saved page to the Hero's SD card.In fact, if all you want to save is the text content of a web page (without any pictures or other linked content), this can be done straight from the Hero Browser. Long-pressing on a link brings up various options including one, "Save link", which actually saves the target of the link to the downloads folder on the SD card. If the target is an html file then that file (and only that file) will be saved.I still think it would be good to have a "save web page" option which saves not just the text but the images and other linked content as well. But, in the meantime, this "Save link" option is a good deal better than nothing.

Motorola Droid X :: Lockup While Browsing?

I've had my DroidX for about 2 weeks now. Last night while browsing it just locked up....no response to any screen or button presses. It did shut off when I pushed the power button, but then would not come back on. I removed the battery for a bit and then it seemed to come back on normally. Has this happened to others? Is this "normal?" Normal like how windows sometimes just locks up?

Motorola Droid :: Touchscreen Scrolling / Browsing

Nov 18, 2009

This is my first touchscreen phone and I am having trouble getting use to it and was wondering if there were any tricks to it. While scrolling a page with my finger I often find I am inadvertently clicking a link I didn't intend or two links are close together and my finger makes contact with the wrong one first and in both cases I have to stop loading the page I dont want, hit menu and back to reload the page I did want and start scrolling over again.I also find it unnatural that the phone can scroll in both the x and y directions at the same time. It makes sense to scroll in whatever direction is more predominant.

Motorola Droid :: Browsing Issues After Flashing Stock 2.2 W/ Root

Sep 1, 2010

Ever since I flashed a stock 2.2 rooted ROM from ROM Manager, I have been having some big time browsing issues.

Both my stock browser and Dolphin Browser HD are now terribly slow most of the time, despite being OC'ed to 1gHz and having plenty of signal. Both also have a hell of a time with scroll and pinch zoom gestures, often clicking links instead. Dolphin seems more troublesome in that regard though. Text entry is also terribly slow, again seemingly worse in Dolphin. And anytime I attempt to select text from a webpage to be copied to the clipboard, the stock browser crashes.

I've checked all my other apps, and none of them seem to have these problems. Text entry and scrolling are quick and responsive, and I've even FC'ed my other running programs to try to weed out a conflict.

Motorola Droid :: Turn Page Up / Down By Button

Jan 18, 2010

I was waiting for Passion for months after reading posts here, literally coming here every day for rumor confirmed, but you all know that's history now. In the stock browser I can turn page by flicking finger on the screen, but isn't using hardware rocker much more precise? Is there a way to do that? In dolphin the rocker sort of does that, but it makes an annoying beep as well. I can turn off sound beforehand to avoid that, but it's easy to forget to turn up sound afterwards. I migrated from HTC 6800 (WM6), the rocker smartly only changes volume when using the phone, while in other situations it smartly turns page instead. Can Droid be up to that?
