Whenever I make a call where there is a long recorded message before telling me the options, I find the phone has gone into standby - when I bring it out of standby the call gets disconnected. Is there any way to stop the phone going to sleep during a call?

Sure, I know that you can press the 'end call' button to end a call, but about three or four rings into the call, the backlight goes out, meaning that the on-screen 'end call' option is disabled, presumably also meaning that turning on the speakerphone during a call is going to need some tactile finger acrobatics.
Ok, sSand it wont do anything but light up green. Even if I go through and push call contact still nothing. Not even with the green button.? I did get a force close of android phone (I think that is what it said)

But after a minute or so it locks. You have to push power button before you can enter numbers- annoying. Is there a "keep alive" option I'm not seeing?
On a similar note, is there a way to make the phone lock automatically (like an app)? It's also annoying to have to manually lock it: I'd rather keep waking it up (if it was indeed idle and not running a program) than forget to lock it and dial/message everyone in my contact list from my pocket.
How do I stop my HTC Hero from recording every call? I've downloaded and installed numerous apps, and after fiddling with some my phone started doing it. I see a notice on the screen when each call begins and ends. I try to tap and catch it in order to take action, but no luck.
I see I've got Phone Recorder, but when I type my password, it says "No Data." I've also got Voice Recorder, but I don't see how it's activated to record during a call, so that's likely not it. Then there's Ultimate Voice Recorder, but its settings have "automatic phone call recording" disabled.
So what could have I done to cause my phone to record each call I make? How can I stop that from happening? And how can I erase all the recorded calls, which have got to be filling up the unit?
I'd still like to record an occasional business call for accurate info, notifying the other party of course. But I have a hunch that the recording process causes people to not hear me as clearly. At least that started happening about the time I noticed the recordings.
Is there a way to stop my Hero from placing a missed call notification in the notification bar?

View 19 Replies View RelatedOver the last week or so I've been obsessed with trying to get my hero into sleep mode, in order to save battery. For those who don't know about this, there are many threads around the net telling of a fix for the messages bug, which prevents the phone entering sleep. It's supposed to reduce CPU usage, thus saving battery.
Now, I've followed the methods of many people who claim to have done this successfully, down to a tee, but for the life of me, I can't get it to work. For some reason my awake time is always at 100%. It's now at the pont of driving me mad, and I'm just wondering if anyone else has tried and failed to do the fix. If anyone needs background info on this problem, I'll post a link up later, as I'm sending this via my phone at the minute.
New EVO user here as of last Friday. I've done a ton of searching, watching and reading and I have a couple questions to the experts out there.
Please let me know if there is a way to stop the screen from timing out (going dark) during a phone call. I find it annoying to have to hit the power button to get the screen back..
I'm using earbuds so the phone isn't near my face and it recognizes the phones as I can see the headset icon. I keep the phone on my desk and the screen times out almost immediately after I make a call and accept an incoming call. It's extremely annoying since I make a ton of work calls and I need to either navigate through an auto attendant and / or leave a message. All of which I have to hit the power button every single time I want the screen to turn back on. I have noticed that the volume buttons turn the screen back on as well.
The screen timeout is set at 2 minutes under the "Sound & Display" category but that doesn't effect the screen time out during a call. Anyone out there have a solution?
I was experiencing the poor battery life and have effectively implemented the work-around that includes disabling the stock Messages app. and installing and using a 3rd-party SMS app., Handcent. The work-around appears to be fully effective for me so far, so thanks to those who helped communicate it here on the forum (you know who you all are). I've noticed though, that when charging, my wake time percentage is in the 80th percentile, indicating that it's not fully sleeping while charging in an A/C outlet. First question: Does the phone not sleep while being charged? Second question: If not, can someone please provide some suggestions of things to look at that might be interfering with sleeping while being charged?

I am very happy with my X10 Mini Pro. I am a fan of Sony Ericsson Phones for years I had a W995 IO still have it and like it very much. But people this X10 Mini Pro is a wonderful device. I had to get used too it. But now after two weeks fine tuning the phone I am very happy with it. I am still in doubt if it needs a hardware button for starting and stopping a phonecall. I wonder what other user4s think about this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedOver the past week I've noticed 3 instances where my HTC Hero just spontaneously switches off.. Screen black, buttons not lighted up. First time, I was editing the Calendar, second time I was viewing my photo album. Most recently, I had the phone in my pocket with music player playing and the phone just stopped working. Battery level wasnt low and I had to remove the battery and reinsert it to get the phone going again for each of those times. The phone might have crashed but idk, this never happened before the past few days (Ive been using it for 2.5 months now)

I have about 14 apps downloaded form the market. Not too many, but I was susrprised to see applications like shop savvy and My Backup automatically start up when my phone boots up. Whilst in the apps themselves, there seems to be no way of stopping this behaviour. Why would they do this ? Why is there no kill switch fro these apps natively for android ? It seems there is a lot of chatter about whether or not task managers are good for the platform, or whether we should just let android do it's thing on it's own. I'm really in two minds whether to carry on using a TM or not. It's for reasons such as shop savvy opening up on it's own when I don't want it to that I'm tempted to keep in, if only for my own piece of mind, and the ability to kill apps that don't need to be on. This MUST have a direct correlation with battery usage.
Anyway, I have to say that I've had most platforms, iphone, blackberry, symbian, and Android really does seem to me to be the best one yet. I am extremely happy with my Hero.
Does anyone know how to stop the phone from doing that little vibration when you make a call and the other person picks up. I have looked through my call setting but cant work it out. I keep thinking I am getting a text or something.

It will stop working out of the blue and start back up. The only reason I know that it stops is because the person I am texting shows me that they never received a message from me and I never got one from them. My phone does not tell me I cant receive or send it just stops and I never know. When it starts working again it does not ever send the messages I didn't receive.

I would like an app that would set the divert to different numbers depending on location.
i work/live in a rural area, so i have a hero on one network which at the moment, when i am out somewhere, diverts to another phone on a different network when there is no signal because the network coverage varies so much!
but, the signal in my house is terrible on both networks so i have to divert the hero (main) phone number to my landline as this is my main contact number for business and the answer machine is attached.
it would make it easier for me if there was something that recognized when i was in or out of the house and set the divert accordingly, most of my appointments are noted in the calendar, so even if it was triggered by an appointment or such, that would be enough, any app suggestions?
I have my Jabra BT250V Headset paired to my Hero. Can anyone tell me...on an incoming call what do I press on the phone to transfer the call to my headset? Also is there any way the Hero can be set to auto-answer after x no of rings like my previous Wim mob phone and most Nokias do?
