I have not seen this question asked yet. I would like to move my Gmail contacts to my phone, i.e. to the smartcard, so that if I delete the contacts from Gmail, they are not automatically deleted from the phone (I don't trust my personal info on a public server). Is there any way to do this with retyping?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have read some about how to move "Phone" stored contacts to Google. They all seem to revolve around exporting all the contacts to the SD card and then importing them again into Google.
The question I have is, what about all the extraneous contacts, say from facebook, LinkedIn, Google+, etc? Do those also get exported and then imported into Google essentially creating a duplicate contact for each contact that is sync'ed from those other services?
What I want to do is just take the few contacts I have run across that are "Phone" contacts and move them to Google. Basically, I don't want ANY phone contacts. Only Google contacts which I can then join to LinkedIn and facebook contacts.
Does that make sense? I just don't want to try this export/import and end up with a ton of duplicate contacts and be in a worse mess than I have now!
By the way, I am on a Galaxy S3 under Verizon.
Is it possible to move all the apps stored on the phone's memory to the SD card?

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy son got an HTC Legend a few months ago & didn't register his Google account. In order to do so now he has to do a factory reset. Unfortunately, a lot of his contacts are stored on the phone & there's no room on the Sim for them. He tried downloading My Backup via the internet to move them to the SD card but the app requires a Google account which he can't register until he's done the factory reset. Are there any apps or tricks available to move his contacts to the SD card that don't require him deleting them in the first place to do it, or is he going to have to buy a pen & paper?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI need help. I am trying to move the contacts from my Samsung Moment, and according to the mfg., because of the Android OS, here is what is said: "on the android phone, go to the address book, under option or export - export them to the phone SD card (or import to phone) and then the car can pull them with no drama - the car wants stuff off the internal phone card, not the android address book...I just did this today So, I'm a complete techno noob, can someone tell me how to do this on my Samsung Moment.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Galaxy s3 and I recently have been saving my contacts to the phone and I just switched it to save to my gmail account(they wont sync over since they were saved directly to the phone). Is there a way to move/link contacts to the gmail account instead of re-typing100 contacts over again and saving them as gmail. Plus I have miles of messages that I need so I can't really delete the contact/have double contacts if you know what I mean.
View 2 Replies View Relatedhow do i do this? it only seems to import Sim contacts.
View 2 Replies View RelatedApologies if this has been asked and answered, i didn't see anything that looked relevant when i searched. And yes, I am an android n00b.First of all i LOVE this freaking phone. Yesterday (the day I got it) was perhaps the single worst performance I've ever had at work for a single day.I am in THAT much in love. But there's one persistent problem. When I bought the phone at a corporate store, the CSR tried 5 times to sync my contacts from my old samsung omnia.Every time, the incredible said that the sync was successful but the contacts never showed up.My only recourse is to manually reprogram all my contacts.I'm in the "b"s now and I have work at 6 AM.I know I can sync my winmo contacts to gmail, but I don't use gmail primarily and would like my phone contacts to stay phone contacts.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure if this has been addressed but it's something I figured out on my own and thought I'd share with the rest of the interwebs. For gmail to access all your old contacts its a quick process (once this is done all your contacts will be in your gmail account which automatically updates anytime a new contact is made on the computer or your phone so you only have to do this once)
Go to CONTACTS>make sure all contacts is selected at the top>MENU>MORE>IMPORT/EXPORT>EXPORT CONTACTS TO SD CARD>wait for this to finish>IMPORT CONTACTS FROM SD CARD>>>THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART>>>SELECT YOUR GMAIL ACCOUNT
This import takes a couple of minutes, but once its done, ALL of your contacts on your phone will be synced with gmail and like i said before, from this point on, all newly added contacts are automatically put in the gmail account by your phone.
I have two accounts, exchange and gmail. All the contacts I care about are in gmail.I also set up my exchange to sync contacts.900 of my contacts are now in the 'corporate' group in contacts on my Galaxy. This means changing those doesn't sync to google.com/contacts and vice versa
question 1: Any way to move all those contacts over to gmail group so they sync?
question 2: Any ideas how this happened?
This is my first post although I have been reading this forum for awhile. I just went from a Moment (too big and bulky) to the Hero.
After searching and reading Im coming to the sad realization that the Bluetooth does not function correctly on the Hero? I just wanted to do a simple transfer of the contacts from my Instinct to the Hero? I dont want to use Google or any other email. Im surprised because there was no problem transferring my contacts from the Instinct to the Moment using Bluetooth. Both the Moment and the Hero have the same Android operating system so why is this happening?
I have just bought a hero. i want to copy my contacts from old phone to hero, i have a new sim i want to use without any contacts saved on it. Any suggestions?

View 20 Replies View RelatedI transferred contacts from my old phone (Samsung Instinct). One of the numbers was a voicemail for another location. On the Instinct you put in the numbers with a pause in the string which allowed you to delay entry of saved access codes until the right time. Is there a way to do this on the Hero?
View 2 Replies View RelatedFollowing on from my frankly rather successful thread about 2.2 ROMs I'm finally going to change up from 2.1 to 2.2 (also aided by the SD card problems I'm having...) and I just wanna check something because, frankly, I don't know much about the whole rooting thing.
My phone's already been rooted, if I press Home + Power I can get to the recovery as usual, do I just need to format my SD card, copy a new image onto the SD card named as update.zip and then go like that?
I keep seeing mentions of launchers and different kernels and, well, it confuses me.
Is there a way to transfer my Facebook Contacts into my people contacts? When I upgraded to 2.1, I forgot to sync a few contacts. The names show up, but as Facebook contacts and I want them as people contacts. Also, is there a way to delete Facebook contacts?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got an old Sony Erikson which obviously has all my contacts on. I've just got the hero, and want to import my old phone book. I've put the old Sim card in the hero, but can see no way of copying the info off the Sim. I synced the hero with the old card in it to my pc. Will this have copied the info over, and do I just sync the phone again to have the info copied over. I notice that all my g mail contacts are on the new phone. I assume using g mail on it has just carried it over, but no phone numbers. Any advice on best way to do this, much appreciated.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter reading through the threads I see that a few people have lost their contacts when the phone has rebooted or upgraded etc. So I would like to back them up. When I look in people-menu-view it shows that all my contacts are saved to my phone. They where saved to my Sim when I put it in so it must have done this by itself. What is the best way to back them up? In the import/export option I can export to SD card but I am a bit worried about pressing that encase its the wrong thing and I loose it all.

View 7 Replies View RelatedAll my 300 odd phone contacts disappeared without a trace, luckily I had synced earlier! Is this a common issue, does anyone know what happened?
View 8 Replies View RelatedJust got a text message and noticed that the name didn't show up even though it was from a contact. Odd I thought. Just gone into my contacts and all phone contacts have gone. It's completely empty. If I show Gmail contacts they're still there.
I haven't touched the phone since this morning, when they were definitely all there (I know because I text a load of people and looked them up).
I've got them synced with Outlook at home I think so not a major disaster, but very very random and annoying how they've just disappeared.
Got the G2 yesterday, and the SIM contacts copied over quickly and easily. However, as they're saved as 'SIM' Contacts, when I go to compose a message and I type in someone's name in top box, it won't come up... it only works with Phone contacts. Is there anyway to CONVERT the SIM contacts on my Hero to Phone contacts so that I don't have to do it all manually?
