HTC Hero :: Way To "Convert" Phone Contacts To Google Contacts?

Android :: Convert Google Contacts Back To Phone Contacts
Nov 16, 2010When I switched to the Samsung Fascinate from a previous non-smart phone, I transferred all of my contacts from the phone over. I think in the setup somewhere I chose to convert my contacts to Google contacts. That was really confusing at first, because I didn't know what it did, and didn't even remember I had done that until recently. I'd like to get the contacts back to phone contacts (not Google contacts) for multiple reasons, which I won't bother listing for now. So, does anyone know how to UN-convert or re-convert Google contacts back into phone contacts? I really don't want to have to recreate all of the phone contacts, because I've got a LOT of them. I would remove my Google account from the phone, but I worry that would remove all of my contacts completely, which wouldn't help me.

May 16, 2010I did my update manually earlier today without any problems (all of my contacts were Google).I have a question for my sister's though:How do you convert all of your Phone contacts to Google contacts? I don't want to do the .csv backup and all that just sync all Phone and Google contacts to Google. The reason is because when Verizon transfers your numbers, they get saved as Phone contacts but from what I understand,the update only re-syncs your Google contacts.So is there a quick/easy way to do this?She is not very tech-savvy.I just want to make sure she does this before she upgrades,so she doesn't lose all of her phone numbers.

Nov 22, 2009Got the G2 yesterday, and the SIM contacts copied over quickly and easily. However, as they're saved as 'SIM' Contacts, when I go to compose a message and I type in someone's name in top box, it won't come up... it only works with Phone contacts. Is there anyway to CONVERT the SIM contacts on my Hero to Phone contacts so that I don't have to do it all manually?

Apr 16, 2012I don't want my contacts to be synced with Google. IIRC, this was possible in 2.x. Having upgraded to 4.0.4, I'm not able to disable Google contacts.
I'd like to:
1. Disable contact sync (this works)
2. Change all contacts from Google contacts to phone contacts
3. Add new contacts as phone contacts by default.
Using the "Accounts and Sync" settings, I'm only able to deselect "Sync Contacts", but I can't find a way to move the contacts and disable the creation of new Google contacts.

Feb 1, 2014how google accounts work. I got a phone previously owned by a family member and all his contacts are still in the phone. I was wondering if it is possible to delete all the contacts on the phone but not affect his google account contacts? Also, if i reformat the phone, will this delete all his google contacts?

Jul 26, 2010I own a HTC hero (Orange). With talks of android updates becoming available, there seems to be a mad rush to back up everything so that nothing is lost on the update. There are many ways of doing this, but one of the most common problems, is that people have their contacts saved as 'Phone' contacts and not 'Google' contacts. This means that they will not sync with Google mail. There was no contact export available to me (I think because my firmware was still 1.5).
This seems to be a solution that will solve the problem without having to write out every single contact number in Google mail.
1. Enter android market.
2. Search 'Contact sync'
3. Download/Install this application.
4. Run the application
5. All contacts will be turned from 'Phone' contacts to 'Google' Contacts
6. These contacts will then be synchronized with your Google mail
This means that if your contacts are lost on your phone at any point (eg. an update), they can easily be 'Exported' back to your phone through Google mail.

Jun 13, 2010When I go to sync my contacts with my Gmail account my phone only registers only half my contacts. Here is what it is doing it shows some as google contacts on my phone and the remaining ones it shows them listed as phone. I cannot figure out how to fix this.

Oct 18, 2009Is there a way to sync Google calendar and contacts to the phone calendar and contacts?
I deleted all my outlook entries (calendar and contacts) from the phone because it was creating duplicates. Now, I am syncing my Hero with my Lotus Notes calendar at work, as well with my Google calendar. I can see all appointments on my phone. However, I can't see Lotus appointments on my Google account, neither my Google calendar entries on my Lotus Notes.
How can I sync them all? If I import my Google entries into Lotus, it will create duplicates in the Phone and vice-versa.
I don't see any advantages for Google entries to be separated from my other entries. I have one list of contacts and that list should be the same across all programs I use. The same for calendars (actually it is useful to have multiple calendars, as long as no duplicates exists).
That, for me, is the biggest drawback of the HTC Hero. My Moto Q was a lot worse phone than the Hero, but the calendar and contacts sync was much better.

However, if I create a new contact (setting it as a Google contact), then when it syncs with Google, rather than creating the contact in my GMail account it wipes the contact from my phone.I can't be the only person experiencing this, is there a solution?

Jan 16, 2010I seem to be having a sync issue with my Droid.When I add a contact to my phone, it doesn't sync into "My contacts" in Gmail; it'll sync into "All contacts". So, a couple of questions:
1) How can I get the phone to add new contacts created on my Droid into "My contacts" in Gmail?
2) I'm trying to understand the point of "All contacts". Why does Gmail want to keep a list of anyone that I've ever sent an email to? Otherwise, it'll be simple enough to just merge the two groups and call it a day.(Note: When I bought my Droid I did NOT have the VZW sales person transfer my contacts or any data from my old Blackberry to my Droid. HTC Hero :: Google Sync Deleted Contacts Created On The Phone
Nov 22, 2010I've lived with this problem long enough and searched for solutions to no avail, I hope someone here can help.
1. I create a new contact on my phone and select my googlemail.com when asked "create contact under account"?
2. I save the newly added contact details
3. I then synchronise the phone
4. The newly created account gets deleted from the phone.
For clarification I'm not saving it to the SIM nor to the phone memory, just to my googlemail account.I've read elsewhere that there might be a problem since google added gmail.com accounts in the UK. I now have 2 google accounts (gmail and googlemail) but in practice both seem identical, if I try to sign in to my googlemail account I end up in my gmail account so I doubt if this is the issue. I've tried deleting my googlemail account from my phone with the intention of replacing it with my new gmail account but I get the message that other applications rely on this account and that the only way to remove the account is to do a factory reset. If I create contacts in my gmail account off-line and synchronise my phone then these contacts appear on my phone as expected. It seems strange that this application should delete a newly added contact on the phone but that is exactly what happens. I know I'm not the only one whose experienced this but I've never seen a conclusive resolution, anyone here know how to solve this?

Nov 25, 2010Is there a way i can group all my contacts to my Google account that are saved to phone. I start saving them to phone instead of Google when giving the option, thinking i could just sync whenever i upgraded ROMS. I was wrong i lost some contacts, restoring older ROMS. So for future references I will save to google, I just want to know if the current contacts now can be saved to Google grouped or i have to go in and do them individually.

I looked up her Google Contacts [URL] and there is no "Starred in Android" group, as it should be. I think it should be automatically created when she fovorites a contac in her phone. But instead, it deletes the starring of the contacts in the phone each time it syncs.
General :: Facebook Contacts Merging With Google Contacts Stop It?
Oct 18, 2012My Facebook contacts are merging with my ICS "People" address book and Google contacts. I don't want this.
I opened the FB app from my Rezound (ICS) and looked at the settings. The "Sync Contacts" option is set to "Don't sync"
Then I looked in the Android Settings --->Accounts&sync--->facebook where there are three boxes, sync calendar, sync contacts, and sync live feed. I made sure all those boxes are unchecked.
I figured I'd just try deleting FB from my Rezound but it seems to be undeletable if that's a word. It's like standard bloatware that I actually use on occasion.
So why are my FB contacts still merged with my Google contacts? I am seeing my contacts with their FB photo and this drives me crazy. I don't want FB communicating with my address book. Gingerbread didn't do this.
