Does the web browser on the Hero have the little zoom in/out buttons like other Android phones? Is there anything like this? The reason I ask is that multitouch, while very cool, doesn't look very practical when you're using the phone with one hand as that only really leaves the thumb free for key pressed and screen touches.

The web-site i'm working on is specially designed for Android. The user will not benefit from Android build-in zoom buttons. On the contrary they make a mess. How can i switch them off?

View 4 Replies View RelatedHtc Hero is supposed to be a multi touch device, you can pinch to zoom in browser and in photo viewer, the thing that I can't understand is why all other applications don't support multitouch.
For example I downloaded snesoid and nesoid and there is written in the options that my firmware (1.5) doesnt' support multitouch, making it impossible to play games.
So is HTC hero with 1.5 really multitouch or not? And will I be able to use multitouch in emulators and other apps downloaded from the market when the 2.1 will come out?
I finally installed bugless beast 7.4 and really like it. I like the multi touch in all the applications but I found that I miss having the zoom buttons in the browser. I like the multi touch for fine zoom control but I like just hitting the zoom button and it automatically fits the text to the screen. Does anyone know of a way to have both? I know you can double tap the screen but I find I like the button better.

View 40 Replies View RelatedRecently got a Hero and loving it so far. The 'Tips, Tricks and Useful Apps' thread on here was especially helpful in setting the phone up. However the Camera Zoom FX barcode was not recognized? I've also tried to manually search for this in the Android Market and although there are lots of add ons to the app in there I cant find the original app where you have to pay $1.29 or something. I would really like to get this app as the only slightly disappointing thing for me on this phone is the camera and any way of me improving it would be great.

I also have an iphone 3GS and there is no comparison in terms of browsing. I have also noticed youtube videos are pretty choppy on the Hero. Is there a fix for this?

I have tried commenting out the setZoom and tried moving the setBuiltInZoom controls to the updateLocation method. I've found a lot of posts in relation to this problem but none that solve it.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have just updated my hero phone and I was surprised it worked ok, normally things for me go wrong. However before when using the camera the zoom bar appeared on the left hand edge of the camera display and I could zoom using the trackball.
Now it has an icon on the left to go to my albums and no zoom scale. I can select it from the menu but again I cant zoom using the trackball. Anyone know how to get this back if possible?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was trying out the Hero this afternoon, and I noticed that the 'back' button is a bit awkward placed.It felt like it was hard to reach with my thumb when holding the phone in one hand (the rightside hand). The Magic has the back button closer to the trackball, which is much easier to access.Anyone else have the same experience? Or am I the only one that uses this button quite often?Is there a possibility to re-map the hardware buttons?

But suddenly, LED get dead, don't work for incoming calls, charge, and notifications, also background lights in buttons and trackball not work. I have set factory reset twice, and a hard reset, I have change de SD card. No way, led still dead. All other functions works fine.
Anybody have the same problem? any idea or solution. I have sent a email to HTC I'll wait a response.
I've noticed the Home and Menu buttons are slightly in further than the other buttons, possibly indicative of that prolonged use could affect their stability. I've looked all over and I couldn't find any posts regarding this, but are there any music programs that allow you to use a hardware button to advance a track? For example, in my BB Curve I could hard press the volume up button to move to the next track, and hard press the volume down to go back a track (without even looking at it or taking it out of my pocket)...
I dig the stock Hero music app the best I think out of Mixzing, Rockon, Wikitunes, or whatever - mostly because it is in the lock screen where I can advance to the next tune without having to swipe in first...
But its still a pain in the neck, when I'm on a running on a treadmill to pick up the phone and hold it up and press the correct button on the glass, as opposed to just reaching in my pocket and pressing a hardware button like I could on my BB Curve, or any other MP3 player...

I use a otterbox commuter case while has covers for the dock and head phone jack, so Im assuming the dust came in between the buttons and the bottom of the screen.

My Hero is SO close to what I like now, only need one more change to make it perfect. I'd like to figure out how to change all of the green highlighting to blue on the Hero. (Like on the ZenRom) Things like: when you press a button (say the call button, as an example) or icon or widget, and things like the progress bar in the browser... also things like the unread mail indicator, and the rating stars in the market...etc. Kelmar and I have been reading on XDA, and have tried many things, and we are getting nowhere. Everything seems to lead to a very long tedious process. It would seem to us that some of this might be able to be easily changed in one file, to make the change throughout the rom, but we could be wrong. We wonder if anyone here could help out with how to do this.
