Nov 10, 2010I got pretty good guessing the touch buttons one they time out, but still annoying as I did miss sometimes.Well just now, I decided to do something about it.A real quick poke through the phone revealed a very easy fix.The path is here.Settings[Sound & Display[Keyboard timeout[Same as Screen timeout my screen timeout is 1 min.As we all know, and I verified this. The keyboard backlight only turns on when the slider is open. Now the touch-sensitive buttons will infact stay lit as long as you would need them, while the screen is on .Life just got a little easier B)

Sep 5, 2010I like many of you have been waiting for months to get my hands on the epic. However when I bought one, the battery life was insanely unusable even after 4-5 days. So I finally returned it for a new on. Well find out over the next few days how the battery performs. But the new one has capacitive buttons that barely respond to touch. Particularly the home key and menu key. I've read of a bunch of people having similar problems. Are we just a few unlucky people who happen to be on the forums, or is Samsung having serious Quality control issues here?

Nov 20, 2010i saw a video back when i was debating between evo and epic, and it showed me how to change those bottom 4 buttons (PHONE CONTACTS MESSAGING APPLICATIONS). i figure phone and contacts kinda go hand in hand so its a waste, and i use HANDCENT. now that i have the phone i cant figure out how to do it to save my life. anyone have any ideas?
The same feature also allowed you to swap around the applications view, and delete unused home pages. i dont need 7 pages id be fine with 4 or 5 (multicon FTW)

Nov 10, 2010I just visited the sprint store today and was testing an epic 4g and found that the bottom buttons were very unresponsive and I had to press them multiple times (sometimes up to 6 times) to get them to work. The guy working at sprint told me all the epic phones are that unresponsive. Is this true?

Oct 25, 2010So when I am on the call screen, and want to hang up or pull the key pad to enter some numbers, sometimes it takes about 3 seconds for the screen to become responsive and those buttons to become press-able. I say 'sometimes' because many a times it just works outright and I can lower the phone from my face and tap the end call button and it works. But other times it can create situations where I want to hang up the phone immediately but cant. Does it happen with anyone else?? One reason for this could be bad proximity sensor, but if screen can light up on taking the phone away from ear, it means proximity sensor is working fine. Any solutions?

The buttons should always be visibly and always stay on top and send the command to the app thats running.

*I see an app with name (Smart Taskmanager) wich always detect when you touch the right side of the screen and then detect when you slide the finger to left.
So I think its possible, with this function I think its possible to implementate the code to simulate the (Home, Meny, Back, Search) buttons.
*I also see and test an app wich show a "cracked display" always ontop so that tecnic maybe shold be useful to always show the buttons/bitmanp on top.
Thoose function, to show the button and catch the "touch event" and send the event to the active program, thats what i dont can figure out how to do.

Aug 9, 2010I'm trying to develop a very specific app for my Dell Streak. I want the entire app to run landscape. The Streak has a tilt function that switches the whole OS to a landscape 800x480.
So I want to make an ADT to test in that uses an 800x480 display, but whenever I set the size I get no buttons. The Streak has a Home, Menu and Back button aswell as volume/mute and power, and I need to use some of them for my application.
I'm not worried about the tilting messing up my application. Not yet, anyway. Just need the test environment the right size and with buttons.

I like the multi touch for fine zoom control but I like just hitting the zoom button and it automatically fits the text to the screen. Does anyone know of a way to have both? I know you can double tap the screen but I find I like the button better.
