Motorola Droid :: Browser Multi Touch And Zoom Buttons
Feb 5, 2010
I finally installed bugless beast 7.4 and really like it. I like the multi touch in all the applications but I found that I miss having the zoom buttons in the browser. I like the multi touch for fine zoom control but I like just hitting the zoom button and it automatically fits the text to the screen. Does anyone know of a way to have both? I know you can double tap the screen but I find I like the button better.

Between pinch and tap zooming, the zoom buttons are now just in my way. Is there a way to disable them?

Maybe it's just semantics, but I feel the need to see how others feel about this.I have always loathed the computer term "cut and paste" because you actually COPY and paste, at least that goes for 99.999% of my usage with those functions. So now the question is, do we apply the same reverse terminology to this fictional, mystical, function, that we have only seen in fuzzy Youtube videos? The reason I ask this is. the initial view of any web page that I visit, I see the whole page, and if I want to be able to read a particular column I would need to zoom into it, but here is where the terminology gets confusing, because in my experience with other devices that use such technology ie: iPod, to zoom in you actually use a stretch motion to zoom in, and a pinch motion to zoom out. I know semantics, you have to pinch to make it zoom one way or the other, but since the most commonly used zoom feature would be to zoom in, it should be called stretch-zoom instead. So how do you feel? Pinch-zoom Stretch-zoom or just plain old Multi-touch.

I snagged SNESoid and was playing Chrono Trigger. Everything going great until One part of the game requires me to press L+R and then hit A. I can't seem to make this happen, since multi-touch only reads two buttons at once. I'm on an Incredible, any ideas?

The web-site i'm working on is specially designed for Android. The user will not benefit from Android build-in zoom buttons. On the contrary they make a mess. How can i switch them off?

I have a Motorola droid (orig) that when you are web browsing there is a bar that comes up on the bottom right with +/- to adjust zoom level. Does this still exist on the Droid 2 Stock Browser?

One thing I like about the iPhone is the pinch to zoom feature, the droid does not have this yet...I don't think. Is there a 3rd party web browser that supports this in the app store? Or is there any hint of one coming soon? It's not that big of a deal really, I'm just curious.

Has anyone seen an explanation as to why the milestone supports multi-touch, and the droid does not? I'm really hoping that at some point they are going to issue a software patch that will activate it.

I'm just wondering on the consensus here.I think the screen is so large that it is actually harder to type with Swype and easier to type on the touch keyboard in landscape mode. What are your guys thoughts? I keep switching back and forth.

I don't get the point. What's the benefit of a multi touch keyboard over a regular keyboard or swype? You can hold down one key, but it still recognizes the other keys? So what? What am I missing?

Multi-touch API is bugged (at least on Motorola Droid). Here is a method to reproduce the error for analysis:
1) Create a new android project in Eclipse with the fields
2) code and paste this into the PointerLocation.java file that is automatically created

Check me if I'm wrong here, but wasn't the 2.1 update for the Droid supposed to include multi-touch on the keyboard? Mine definitely doesn't appear to have this functionality (as observed while holding down one key and pressing another one). Does this mean I have to go back to Better Keyboard and some other such app? Am I missing something here?

I tried searching first!
I've lost Multi Touch Zoom on the Dolphin Browser Since the 2.1 update.
The native browser will not multi touch zoom either (I thought this was supposed to be included in the update).
Any ideas? I can't find a setting to turn it on.

I guess that's what it's called? Basically where the web page/text reformats to fit the width of the screen when zoomed. There is a video floating around from The Street TV where the "reviewer" says the DX doesn't do this.I really like this feature (Evo does this quite well) and is one of my pet peeves with browsing on my Ipod Touch.Does anyone know for sure whether DX does or doesn't have this capability?I asked the guy who did the AC benchmark test and he said that the DX does do this. Someone else said that it's a setting in the browser. Others are saying that it doesn't do it.Seems like such a basic feature that I can't imagine a phone like the DX would not be able to do this.

So I have the Droid X but I noticed that the Droid 2 now has a themed version of Swype to fit in with the rest of the UI. I like it a lot.
My question is this. When you push the voice-to-text button does it pop up a window like earlier versions of Swype or does it do the really fast and slick thing that the multi touch keyboard does (just replace the keyboard with the audio waveform thing).

Initial tests show it works great..

Does the web browser on the Hero have the little zoom in/out buttons like other Android phones? Is there anything like this? The reason I ask is that multitouch, while very cool, doesn't look very practical when you're using the phone with one hand as that only really leaves the thumb free for key pressed and screen touches.
