HTC Droid Eris :: Camera And 2.1 - Can't Zoom With Trackball
Jun 15, 2010Since the 2.1, you can't zoom with the trackball - miss that and it also doesn't seem to zoom as well. My husband hasn't changed to the 2.1 and we can take the same picture but he gets closer with his zoom. Is there any setting that would improve this on the camera with 2.1?

Android :: Continuously Update Trackball Coordinates
Jan 9, 2010I'm trying to figure out how to continuously update the coordinates of the trackball. Right now, I just want to write the values on change to TextViews to understand how it works.
I've been looking at the onTrackballEvent. Right now, I assume that each event passed as an argument to it should be seen as a complete event, that is from the start of the trackball movement to the end. Is this correct? Because if so, the values of x and y will be the same during the execution of the onTrackballEvent body. If this would NOT be the case, I could just use a timer and update the values at a regular interval..
So either I have to somehow interrupt the onTrackballEvent call and write the values, repeatedly over and over again while it is still moving, which seems weird, or...well this is pretty much were my Google search skills and Android knowledge comes to a halt.

Oct 1, 2009I have a new HTC Hero (running new firmware) and all is fine except for one query regarding the trackball sensitivity.Basically it seems way-too sensitive for me, I find that the slightest touch moves it. For example it's very easy to over-shoot scrolling down a web page with multiple links and select the wrong one.I don't know if this is a feature or a fault since I have no other Hero to compare it with. (May be I have fat fingers!)Also I few (rare) times either the trackball has "moved itself" or something else weird has happend because I've seen the centre homescreen move on its own to the right... Which again makes me wonder whether there an issue with the trackball.

Jan 22, 2010Two things I think my Hero could do without7 Home Screens - I really don't need all that real estate on my phone. I think 3 or maybe 5 at the most would have been plenty. I feel compelled to fill each screen with all the really cool widgets but I presume this will have some performance cost on my phone. I know I could use a different Home app, but I'm trying to use Stock applications wherever possible to reduce app clutter.Trackball - I hardly ever use it, apart from maybe some precision clicking on links in the browser. Does anybody else use the trackball extensively.Maybe I'm missing a trick here.
I just sent an email and without thinking about it used the Trackball to navigate the cursor around my message... Looks like the Trackball might actually be quite useful after all.

Oct 15, 2009I've had my hero for several weeks now, and i've barely used the trackball at all; once or twice for fine tuning the cursor position (functionality that could easily be replicated by a couple of cursor softkeys) and when using the camera (which is only because they *make* you use the trackball).
I wouldn't be surprised if we start to see android phones released in the near future without the trackball.
I wouldn't mind, but i searched the app store and i couldn't find a marble madness clone anywhere! Does anyone use the thing on a regular basis or find it indispensable in any other way? Any good apps or games that make use of it?
While I'm at it - i dont think i've EVER pressed the call button (furthest one on the left), always use the touchscreen instead. I just pressed it now for the first time to see what it would do, and accidentally dialed somebody, they just called me back to see what i wanted, because all they could hear was the clacking of keys as i typed this post.

This is SE official announcment about multitouch, and few month ago they say that it was not possible, but now they say that X10 support this. What to think people some alliens fly down and changed our mobiles or SE was able from the beggining to make multitouch and he didn't wanted. Apr 7, 2010I just got my Hero a few days ago, previously I had an Instinct. So far I love the Hero, but one of my few complaints about it is having to take pictures by pressing the trackball. The trackball just feels odd to press and most of the time I have to press it multiple times for it to take a photo. Anyone have any solutions to this? I doubt there is a way to change this in the settings, but is there an app or something that uses a more convenient button for photos?
