HTC Hero :: Damagecontrol Rom Flash Gone

I was using this guide here [Complete Guide] How To Flash A Custom ROM To Your Android Phone With ROM Manager + Full Backup & Restore | Android News, Reviews, Applications, Games, Phones, Devices, Tips, Hacks, Videos, Podcasts - Android Police. And for the Root part I used Instant Root Acess which worked great! gained root access and downloaded a couple of rott access requiring apps to confirm.
Problem arose when I started using the market app ROM Manager. Firstly, when trying to flash the cusom recovery image, Pressing the appropriate menu button brought up a sub menu where i confirmed my phone type but then nothing, the app just stopped. I waited 30 secs or so, TasKilled it and tried again, same thing.............

I'm wondering about the differences between the two, I know they are both stock-ish roms and everything I just don't feel like reading 1000 pages over the two at xda. The main things I'm wondering about where they differ are free internal memory right after flashing (I'm not interested in A2SD), and of course, speed/stability. I will be overclocking either one should I use them.

Which is better and why? I've been running DamageControl for a month now, and it's really fast, which is of utmost importance for me (hell, if I could find a way to run just bash on my hero, i would). Is Darchdroid faster? better? how and why?

i rooted my phone last night and now the htc facebook doesnt let me update myu contactes with their picture. it says updating but i only does it for 3 secs. please help i tried to do the app update and still the same thing.

I have noticed that I only have around 25 to 30mbs of available space on my internal phone memory. This ROM has a2sd how is this possible? Some of my application will not update now like handcent. Doesn't the phone run into problems when the memory gets that low?

I just jumped from Fresh 1.1 to DamageControl 2.1. My favorite thing about Fresh was the dead-simple wifi tether program. Can anyone help me find the equivalent in DC 2.1? It really is the 'killer app'.

I flashed this at least 3x. I did a clean wipe and all that jazz.
- The market wont let me search
- A LOT of my roms dont seem to be compatible
- The htc battery widget doesnt work
- When i download a widget it doesnt show up in the list.
- The "download more htc widgets" button doesnt work
- Refuses to check for update

When I press "Press to start tethering" it says "Please wait while starting" then it says "unable to start tethering. Please try again!". Even when trying to go to "Show log" it says "Unable to open log-File!".

When I installed DamageControl v2.08.1 on my cdma Hero the calendar and date are 24 hours off! Time is correct but it's the next day. When I did a back up of this install it even used the wrong date on the backup. I have a bunch of small issues that I think with patience I may be able to work around but this clock/date thing has me puzzled. Also has anyone figured out how to put a custom city in for the weather widget and not one of the ones listed but for example a small town (any town) some where in the USA? I could do this on my 1.5 but this weather widget acts like the clock and you can only use their listed cities.

the connection via my wifi is intermittent at best - usually telling me page not available / connection error , occasionally it does connect but hangs up when searcging - the weather widgets / gmail update regularily . I have used the browser , google widget and downloaded mini opera - all same problem. Secondly , I havn't been able to view youtube vids and only minimal success with beeb player {this may be more to do with the connection dropping off but what I saw wasnt great quality.A nokia n95, which hadnt been used for web browsing until I tried it this morning, was fine browsing using the same wifi network & viewing iplayer.I so want to love this phone [ having rubbished my iphone / nokia friends ] but a quick look through the forums suggests there may be problems with Wi-Fi.

Anyone on the hero been able to get the LED to flash another colour other than green for notifications?, lots of market programs have the option to change colour for different events mine only ever flashes green. I assume this isn't a feature available on hero at moment, maybe it will be enabled in new version, I really could do with it.

I got my phone a few weeks ago and the flash player worked then. But now if I choose it, it just for a to a blank a screen. For the same video, if I choose YouTube it plays fine.

For fear of sounding like a dope I'm going to ask. I was able to do the root because I was able to follow the step by step. I can't seem to find any step by steps on flashing a new Rom. I don't understand what making a nandroid means. I feel like a total Goober asking but if I eont figure anymore I really wasted my time going thru the root process.
