HTC Hero :: Flash - How Is It Working?
Aug 31, 2009I'm interested in how well Hero hardware handles flash sites, are they usable? Any gaming sites supported? Can you watch flash video sites other than youtube?

View 24 Replies View RelatedI have an HTC Desire from Telus in Canada. In the last week or so I have noticed that my LED flash is no longer firing at all. Even when I set it the flash to be on. Is there a setting that I may have set that would disable it? Or is there a way to test if the led flash is still working? I would like to know, the Phone is only a month and a half old.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI noticed yesterday that only the top LED is lighting up when activating my flash while taking a picture. I am running Cyanogen 6 on the phone so I thought it might be some kind of software glitch so I restored back to my Stock + Root image and it still isn't working.
1. Has anyone else had this problem?
2. If I restore back to 100% stock (I haven't updated the radio yet) and bring it into Verizon, is this something they will cover under warranty and give me a new phone?
3. In the event that there are no Incredible immediately available do you think it would be possible to get a Droid X instead?
My Flash on the camera has stopped working all of a sudden. I checked the camcorder and the light (flash on) didn't work. I tapped the back of the phone near the flash. It worked. I went back to camera and turned on flash, it worked. So by tapping something I jigged something around in there and the flash was working.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a droid x n have been trying to get hulu to play since I got the phone. I was told that 2.2 would have flash 10.1 support. When I got the update july worked flawlessly. A few hours later every video gave me a "this video is unavailable, if u continue to receive this message clear ur cache" so I did n nothing changed. I went check my flash n the flash player had uninstalled itself. I reinstalled n applied the update n got the same result. I tried other flash sites n they r not working(only flash games work, no videos).
I brought my phone to Verizon n they gave me a replacement saying it should b able to play. The new phone is doing the same thing. Is this a skimmed down version of flash or is the flash support crazy? Y will this not play after hours of flawless performance? It also freezes the browser everytime, full episode or clip, any show. Is there a Divx web player yet? I know u can use ur pc as a server to stream them through, but can I pull up movies from icefilms.info or alluc.org directly through the browser?
As the title says, flash isn't working. Even if I go to here: Adobe Flash showcase for mobile (BETA) and click on a show it won't load. It looks like something is happening, but I can't view anything and after several minutes of waiting I give up. Is this a known problem and is there a solution?
If I go into astro and find com.adobe.flashplayer I click on the launch button and it says activity not found -com.adobe.flashplayer. I have droid w/ bb 0.2.1 running 800Mhz. I haven't added a new kernal or any theme.
My Desire somehow isn't playing flash videos anymore, where it used to. Anybody know how to rectify this? If Flash 10.1 is a go, then its even better, however, I'll be happy with FlashLite working for now, rather than having it not work at all.
View 2 Replies View RelatedBought a HTC Desire and just cannot get its camera flash working. Obviously having hard time with people at the shop ("have you tried taking these pictures at night, maybe it understands that it is still daytime even if you tried it in bathroom"). My dumb brain would suggest that manual - flash always on (unless that 5% battery limit is not hit), automatic - depends on sensor income, off - no flash. Really hard to search for stuff like that in forums as usually "flash not working" refers to Adobe Flash.
View 1 Replies View RelatedToday I carried out check to see if any updates were available. Much to my excitement I noticed that 2.2 was there so I carried out the download. I now have WiFi hotspot, flashtorch, 720p camcorder and applications sharing available in my apps list. The problem stems when I go to view just in TV or BBC iplayer and I am told that my device does not support flashplayer. I have checked and adobe flashplayer is there when I go to manage applications. When I click on it takes me into it but all options to click on are shaded and I cant do nothing about it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAnyone else install the latest 2.2 (released 8/1) I believe. I notice now flash is not working even after installing flash showcase. Doesn't bother me being that this is leaked beta just wanted to see if anyone noticed. Can this be moved to the 2.2 ROM area.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I just sent back my old phone back last week because the bottom LED suddenly stopped working. I had been switching back and forth between ROMs but the LED still didn't work even after resetting the phone back to factory defaults so I figured it had to be a hardware issue. I called up Verizon, explained to them that my one of my LEDs just stopped working and they shipped me out a new phone. I have been using my new phone for about a week and today I noticed that once again the bottom flash LED was not lighting up. I did a bump charge yesterday and I'm wondering if that might have something to do with it. I did notice when experimenting with the LEDs in the past that the LEDs will work differently depending on the battery level. For example if your battery is low (maybe 25%) only the top LED will light. If your battery is really load (maybe 10%) none of the LEDs will light up.
I would imagine this is by design to keep you from killing your battery when taking photos. My questions is, does anyone know anything about what the relationship between the battery level and the flash LEDs? Is it possible that by doing a bump charge or by swapping back and forth between ROMs that I could some how screwed up the mechanism in the phone that measures the battery level of the phone and adjusts the LEDs accordingly? Also I have been using the Incredilight app in order to allow me to use my LEDs as a flash light when coming to bed late at night. Not sure if that has anything to do with the issue but I thought it was worth mentioning. My phone is currently running the Stock ROM rooted (unrevoked3) with the original radio and s-on. Previously had been playing with CynogenMOD roms using ROM Manager.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI noticed at some point after the upgrade to CL14 (done via sprint) that my flash on the camera isn't working. This could have been happening before the upgrade but i doubt it.
Anyways so the camera doesn't light up the flash. I saw it light up the flash once since I started troubleshooting but thats about it. I switched back and forth between flash on/off a dozen times or so.
Downloaded momentflash. Low and behold i started the app and it worked! Then i tried turning the flash on again and no luck. So i uninstalled, rebooted phone over and over again, no luck. I then did some reading and realized there was a widget. Put that on the desktop and again the FIRST time i ran the widget the flash worked. then it stopped again. I haven't been able to light it up since then.
I haven't been able to do much troubleshooting when it does work, but it doesn't seem hardware related. it stays on until i hit off, but i didn't get a chance to wiggle it around to see if contacts needed cleaing, etc...
Just wondering if anyone had any ideas? I don't think its any apps i have installed as i have pretty standard ones and had those on when it was working ( i believe at least).
i also tried killing all my running apps to see if any were causing conflict, then restarting momentflash and it still wouldn't light it up...
any help would be great, I don't really know what else to try. Looked at the android logs and nothing jumped out as having an issue.
I could probably try hard resetting but don't want to restore the phone again if i don't have to.
New android user switched over from WM Liking the wildfire, anyone can tell me how to open .swf & .flv on wildfire even though it has HTC flash player.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI used this method but altered a bit to install flash 10.1 for eclair and it is indeed working, here and there.
How To: Install Flash 10.1 On Android 2.1 Eclair Devices? It was a well understood myth that only Android 2.2 Froyo was capable enough to handle Flash 10.1. But now as the story unfolds, you can install Flash 10.1 onto your Android 2.1 Eclair powered handsets without any issues. The absence of a JIT compiler and other Froyo goodies might cause some performance issues, but in the end you will be able to surf Flash enabled websites without any problems.
Here is the step by step guide on how to get Flash 10.1 on your Android 2.1 Eclair geared phone:
The first step is to download flash_for_21.zip to your computer and extract the .apk file.
Now navigate to the market and install "Apps Installer" utility to your phone.
Now connect your Android phone to the computer and copy .apk file to your SD card. Make sure that it is in SD card root and not in a sub folder.
After this launch "Apps Installer" on your phone and follow the on screen instructions to install flash_for_21.apk file.
After installation is complete, simply reboot your phone and there you go! You now have Flash 10.1 on your phone.
This method has been tested and confirmed operational for Google Nexus One, Droid Eris and HTC EVO 4G on stock Android 2.1 Eclair.

The only difference is I used just the standard debug transfer to load it into my phone then used android centrals sideload wonder app to install it in debug mode.

Had to have enable plug ins turned on in the browsers settings, doesn't seem to work on all sites but some sites that did not work missing flash before are for sure working now.
Rooted Galaxy S captivate running eclair 2.1. Using skyfire or opera. dolphin seems ok also. Seems to get better results than standard browser. Some pages seems like it works others it doesn't. I used whatismyflash.com and it reports I am using 9. I don't get it.
After following the guide to a T that GrdLck posted, I cannot get to the adb. When I try to add the drivers, I get an error saying not found. I have tried on 2 diff machines. Win 7 32bit and 64bit. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Am I missing something?

View 9 Replies View RelatedBasically by "any browser" I mean all the big name browsers, including Firefox and Dolphin. On my old ROM they worked. Now the same (latest) versions don't. I'm on 4.2.2 (old ROM and new ROM) and I don't seem to have any Flash binaries installed, but I thought it was built into browsers now since Flash for Android is discontinued.
