View 45 RepliesI rooted my phone last night following the guide and the help of a wonderful forum member and it went smoothly. I'm still on 1.5 and will stay here awhile 'till I get the nerve again to do a 2.1. I need to get used to the fact that I did just root my phone.
With all that said I have root explorer on my phone. I was going to use the list of safe apps that can be removed and I was going to cut and paste them into a backup directory in case I do something wrong. Does this sound safe and cautious? Or I was thinking about using Fresh Kitchen but I think I have to have that Rom on my phone and I don't want to go there yet. I would appreciate any suggestions on the safest way and easiest way to get rid of those apps.
Read the tutorial on removing the unwanted sprint apps and thought everything went fine. Could not see the apps I removed in my menu but I'm not showing any improvement in internal memery. Did I do something wrong?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy hero definitely seems slower for some reason after rooting and removing some of the common sprint apps (footprints, nascar, stocks, etc). I didn't remove anything critical.
View 3 Replies View RelatedCan apk's be removed from the stock CL-14 zip BEFORE reflashing. Maybe that's a way to remove Sprint bloatware? Anyone?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering about the differences between the two, I know they are both stock-ish roms and everything I just don't feel like reading 1000 pages over the two at xda. The main things I'm wondering about where they differ are free internal memory right after flashing (I'm not interested in A2SD), and of course, speed/stability. I will be overclocking either one should I use them.
View 16 Replies View RelatedWhich is better and why? I've been running DamageControl for a month now, and it's really fast, which is of utmost importance for me (hell, if I could find a way to run just bash on my hero, i would). Is Darchdroid faster? better? how and why?
View 2 Replies View Relatedi rooted my phone last night and now the htc facebook doesnt let me update myu contactes with their picture. it says updating but i only does it for 3 secs. please help i tried to do the app update and still the same thing.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have noticed that I only have around 25 to 30mbs of available space on my internal phone memory. This ROM has a2sd how is this possible? Some of my application will not update now like handcent. Doesn't the phone run into problems when the memory gets that low?
View 8 Replies View RelatedDoes one exist? I haven't seen one available. Too scared to just flash a random one.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI just jumped from Fresh 1.1 to DamageControl 2.1. My favorite thing about Fresh was the dead-simple wifi tether program. Can anyone help me find the equivalent in DC 2.1? It really is the 'killer app'.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI flashed this at least 3x. I did a clean wipe and all that jazz.
- The market wont let me search
- A LOT of my roms dont seem to be compatible
- The htc battery widget doesnt work
- When i download a widget it doesnt show up in the list.
- The "download more htc widgets" button doesnt work
- Refuses to check for update
I keep getting sign in error saying that my Sprint username and password are incorrect when I attempt to do connection sharing with my pc
View 17 Replies View Relatedi just flashed my phone to DamageControl v2.07.2. is there a way i can put a custom lock screen like most people have on these forums ?
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen I press "Press to start tethering" it says "Please wait while starting" then it says "unable to start tethering. Please try again!". Even when trying to go to "Show log" it says "Unable to open log-File!".
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow do i install this? I heard something about wiping Dalvik? WTF IS THAT!? lol. What do i have to do?
View 15 Replies View RelatedHas anyone tried to flash the weaponoid icon pack over this rom? I liked the little droid icons and the clear lockscreen.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I installed DamageControl v2.08.1 on my cdma Hero the calendar and date are 24 hours off! Time is correct but it's the next day. When I did a back up of this install it even used the wrong date on the backup. I have a bunch of small issues that I think with patience I may be able to work around but this clock/date thing has me puzzled. Also has anyone figured out how to put a custom city in for the weather widget and not one of the ones listed but for example a small town (any town) some where in the USA? I could do this on my 1.5 but this weather widget acts like the clock and you can only use their listed cities.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to remove some of the Sprint Bloatware without rooting the phone. I know some of those apps Sprint probably sold their soul to have on the phone but some of it is just trash. I'm not looking to clear up memory or any performance improvements. I just want to do some house cleaning of junk that I will NEVER use. I was hoping for maybe an unlock code or something simpler then the root/rom way to go. I'm very satisfied with the way things are working now but some of that garbage has got to go. I know junk is standard bill of fare on new computers but you can go through and systematically delete the garbage but I'm a little offended to have something that I bought and paid for and can't even clear out the junk and personalize it to my taste.
View 23 Replies View RelatedSo I rooted a little while back & have only been having problems. For whatever reason, the only rom I can get to work is Fresh 2.3. I've tried installing CM1, the nightlies, both the blue & vanilla themed version, and darchroid 2.8. I couldn't even get CM1 and darchroid 2.8 to get past the white htc screen. Is there any way I can get back to stock 2.1 and unroot? I'm hoping if I do that and try rooting again then maybe things will work. Also, is there any way to delete all the bloatware on fresh 2.3? I love the performance of the rom but I can't deal with how little memory it leaves me.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am running rooted incredible with 2.x radio, and virtuous' 2.2 ROM. Its working... well, kinda slow... In fact, its lagging (? unhappy face )
I am new to rooting, just started messing with it yesterday. I followed JONAMERICA's site to rooting, reflashing to stock with S-OFF, and going with the manual radio and rom update.
Then, to delete apps I followed his instruction as well, but whenever I type in command prompt "cdsd ools" it says directory not found...
I want to remove voice dialer, news, google search, gmail, and friend stream. I know that Virtuous has a EZcustomizer, but it doesnt remove these apps that I want off.
Also, any ideas as to why its working so slow? Like... it lags when i go from screen to screen, loading apps take a bit longer than when I was on 2.1 last night... once again, slightly unhappy face...
I followed everything else to the letter...
Heres a link to his site, if anyone doesnt know what I'm talking about...Remove bloatware from HTC Droid Incredible 2.2 - Technology - Jonamerica.com
So I've seen a couple ways to remove bloatware, just wondering has anyone used the Titanium Backup way to remove the bloatware?
View 15 Replies View RelatedSo I finally rooted my phone the other night. Already did a nandroid backup and a Titanium backup. Just installed SetCPU and now its time to remove my bloatware.I have found MANY different ways to remove it posted online, can someone please recommend a simple easy (fool-proof) way for me to remove them? I am not stupid, but I am definitely not technologically inclined - so step by step instructions (or a link to step by step instructions).
View 10 Replies View RelatedIll make this quick since i have to run out the door

I've down the root script and have the 'superuser' app installed. I know how to use ADB, but I keep getting permission denied when I do 'adb shell su'.
How do I remove these buggers! I also tried ASTRO explorer, still denied.
I've just root my Desire using the unrevoked v3.21, and i intend to remove the bloatware like teeter, stock, talk and plurk once and for all. so i went to the market and download the root explorer and titanium backup. When i try to uninstall using the titanium backup, it freeze and reboot my phone, and the bloatware are still there. so i tried using root explorer to delete the apk and the odex in the system/app folder, but after i've deleted them, i reboot my phone and see they are still there. Is there any ways to remove the bloatware for good? I've search around and came across this "adb shell" that can be use to remove the bloatware. May i know how it works?
