HTC Droid Eris :: Footprint App - Get Them Out Of The Phone?
Jun 28, 2010I got my new HTC Eris and took it on a trip to Seattle. Now I have all these swell pictures noted as "Footprints" but I don't see a way to get them out of the phone. It's great having the picture and the geo data, but how do I get them out of the phone? The Menu key yields an "Export" option but that just saves it to the SD card. Do I then have to remove the card to read it? And please don't tell me that the pictures are the low resolution postage stamp I see on the Eris screen!

Feb 16, 2010I'm developing an android word game app that needs a large (~250,000 word dictionary) available.
I need:reasonably fast look ups e.g. constant time preferable, need to do maybe 200 lookups a second on occasion to solve a word puzzle and maybe 20 lookups within 0.2 second more often to check words the user just spelled.
Lookups are typically asking "Is in the dictionary?". I'd like to support up to two wildcards in the word as well, but this is easy enough by just generating all possible letters the wildcards could have been and checking the generated words (i.e. 26 * 26 lookups for a word with two wildcards). as it's a mobile app, using as little memory as possible and requiring only a small initial download for the dictionary data is top priority.
My first naive attempts used Java's HashMap class, which caused an out of memory exception. I've looked into using the SQL lite databases available on android, but this seems like overkill.

Oct 23, 2009I was wandering if anyone had managed to find a way of watching 4oD on the hero? I am on Vodafone. I am not sure if this makes any difference at all. I have been trying to watch programmes for the last couple of days but no joy.

Jun 7, 2010Im still trying to get a good feel for what i am doing before i go and root my phone and flash a custom rom. my last real question is i see so many different custom roms people are using. where can i find all these to put on my phone. also i am on 2.1 do i have to use a 2.something custom rom or can i use any custom rom. im at about an 95% user ability as far as using my phone and computer. i have never hacked/ flashed/ altered anything like a phone or computer or video game system. i have always just used as is. i wanna try this becuase i have read i can go back and go stock on this if i cant do it or dont like the results.

Jan 14, 2010Recently got a Hero and loving it so far. The 'Tips, Tricks and Useful Apps' thread on here was especially helpful in setting the phone up. However the Camera Zoom FX barcode was not recognized? I've also tried to manually search for this in the Android Market and although there are lots of add ons to the app in there I cant find the original app where you have to pay $1.29 or something. I would really like to get this app as the only slightly disappointing thing for me on this phone is the camera and any way of me improving it would be great.

May 3, 2010Good evening, I just switched over to the Hero from a blackberry curve. Is there any easy way to find out which applications are running in the background? I go to manage applications and then I try to sort by running but I see no order of which apps are running and the only ones I know that are running are the ones that say force quit. Is this correct? If so, is there any other way to easily find out which apps are running. Is there a way to sort them and be able to find the running applications without having to manually clicking on each app? I have tons of things on this thing and it takes forever to do this.

Feb 5, 2010I recently got the HTC G2 Touch and sometimes it is a great phone and sometimes it's the most expensive brick i've ever bought. I was wondering if anyone could answer a couple of questions,
1. I'm surprised the phone doesn't have a music equalizer. Are there any apps that do this?
2. Toon Warz lags on my phone quite alot. Is there anything I can do to speed it up?
3. When I play a song there is a stutter at the beginning of each song, is there any way to stop this? And when I press pause it doesn't pause straight away, or when using the buttons on the headphones.
4. Why can't I find Doom on the market? I've searched literally everything!
5. If I buy a game, does it just get charged onto my phone bill?
6. I know that you can uninstall a game within 24 hours and you won't be charged, but couldn't you just uninstall and reinstall an app every 24 hours and not get charged?
I know that this isn't the G2 Touch part of the forum but this area gets more views and the phones are practically the same!

Oct 2, 2009I've just got my hands on a HTC Hero and I can't find the handwriting support that numerous websites AND the Orange website who supplied the phone said it had.I've looked around on the web a bit and can't seem to find any cast iron information on this but almost all of them give "Handwriting support" as one of the key features of this phone.

Jul 30, 2010My Hero rebooted itself when i cut it off and cut it back on due to aggravation of lag. after spending half the day fooling with getting back some apps, my contacts from google and the whole issue with syncing facebook to my contacts. i thought i could easily just look up my city for the weather widget location.
Well before the reboot my weather showed just fine, my location and everything. now my city isn't even in the data base and my gps and such is turned on. some of the directions ive read on using the gps to find my location has become a headache because i don't think i have those features.
When i go into my weather settings and click the + sign it goes straight to search location. i type in the name of my city and it doesn't come up.

Step 2, Touch it and it should go full screen pic below
Step 3, Touch menu button and this screen below appears
Step 4, Hit the set as ringtone button and below screen appears
Step 5, select trim ringtone and below screen appears. When in this screen you can adjust ringtone from each end to where it begins and ends. There is a play button and a left and right arrow. The left and right arrow allow for second to second adjusting.

HTC Hero :: Find Out Causing Notification Sounds?
Jun 28, 2010Can anyone tell me how I can find out what is causing notification sounds?
My Hero will, at times, beep randomly, but leave nothing in the notifications bar. If I open a task manager I can see that HTC Checkin Service and Settings are the only things running. This process will repeat, whether I close the apps or not, and run the battery down.
Is there some kind of system log I can look at to find out what is causing this? It seems weird that the phone would make the sound but leave no evidence of a notification.
