HTC Hero ::Can't Find Handwriting Support

Oct 2, 2009

I've just got my hands on a HTC Hero and I can't find the handwriting support that numerous websites AND the Orange website who supplied the phone said it had.I've looked around on the web a bit and can't seem to find any cast iron information on this but almost all of them give "Handwriting support" as one of the key features of this phone.

Is anyone able to shed any light on this?If not I shall be sending it back and continuing with my Magic - Which is fab.

Android :: Find Device Support GPS Or Not?

I am trying to find some code which will help me to find out if the device which I use has GPS or not? I don't want to know if GPS is enabled or disabled. I just want to know if the device has GPS hardware or not through my program.

General :: Find List Of Browsers That Support Night Mode?

Nov 19, 2013

I am using HTC Desire S, upgraded to RUU version Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4. This RUU version came straight from HTCDev. This RUU version doesn't support inverted mode.

Because of this difficulty, I am unable to search and find web browsers that support inverted mode. Google search will always come up with tutorials on how to turn on inverted mode in the ICS browser, which this RUU version doesn't support.

Where can I find a list of browsers that support Inverted Mode/Night Mode?I do know Dolphin Browser dropped support for Night Mode.

General :: Any Keyboards That Convert Handwriting?

Jul 26, 2012

keyboard on google translate app?

It has an option which converts handwriting to text as u write and tap the space bar.

I found that with a stylus i can write much faster and with less mistakes.

And it's nice for taking notes as I follow around our technicians.

So, is there a keyboard out there that can do that? If ICS' keyboard can do it, where is it in the settings. couldnt find it.

Android :: Input Text Method Using Handwriting

Sep 17, 2010

A friend of mine has a Chinese branded HTC Tattoo. That phone has a really cool input method where you can "draw" the letters on the screen. The version I have seen handles English and Chinese characters transparently without needing to switch input methods. Does anyone know if this is downloadable as an app, or what this is?

General :: Convert Block Capitals Handwriting To Sentence Case?

Jan 5, 2013

I've recently got my first ever smartphone, a Galaxy Note 2, and I like it a lot. I especially like being able to enter text with the stylus in my own handwriting.

The catch is that I write in BLOCK CAPITALS, and I would like the phone to automagically convert this input into lowercase (or ideally sentence case). I've tried googling around for an app or setting to do this, but all I could find was guidance for app developers on case conversion.

write in lowercase or to use an onscreen keyboard; I bought the phone as a paper notebook replacement, not as a tiny laptop.

HTC Hero :: MS Exchange Support

Dec 11, 2009

I am about to get myself the hero, and I know there's Exchange support but I still want to make sure some point:

1. Can I see appointments from my Google calendar alongside with my exchange calendar in a single view?

2. can I sync contacts from Exchange over the air? I mean that new contacts will be pushed into my phone, without manual or timed syncing.

3. I see there are some issues with SSL or password policy when connecting to exchange. Are those still valid?

4. Can I log into a Google Apps account, instead of a regular Google account?

HTC Hero :: IM Support For Contacts

Oct 16, 2009

Is there any way to be able to add Jabber/AIM/ICQ/whatever info to people in my contact list?
For some reason, this works when filling "My contact card" (clicking "Add" then "IM", expands several choices like AIM, Windows Live, Yahoo, Skype etc.), but doesn't for other contacts (the "IM" seems to expand, but is empty). I can only add generic "IM" entries for those.

Sprint HTC Hero :: Arabic Language Support Possible

Apr 15, 2010

I'm new here and I know you probably don't know anything about the Arabic Language Support, but I thought I might ask the experts. I downloaded something called "Arabic Android" and after flashing it, the Hero hanged in the boot screen and I had to spend over 3 hours to get back as no re-flashing or Nandroid restoring worked. Anyway, if there is a trusted way to add the Ararbic support, I would be more than grateful to have it as many of my friends send me Arabic SMS, emails, tweets and Facebook messages.

HTC Hero :: Support Java Application - Camera Results?

Aug 26, 2009

I have a few questions about the phone. 1.Does it support Java applications. If not, is there any third-party application to enable it? 2.After using this phone for some time, would you recommend me any other phone in the same price (more or less)? 3.What do you think about the camera? Does it make good photos or rather bad? 4.Could you give me some sample photos made using the phones camera? 5.When does the phone start to be laggy, and how to prevent it? 6.I've heard about rooting the phone and is it 100% safe? Having a bluetooth without an ability to send files is just silly.

Has anyone else had this issue while trying to play MP3's through the Music player? I downloaded this album the other day (legally of course), the first track plays fine but the rest of them just throw up this error.

The tracks play fine in media player so I'm a little stumped.

Sprint HTC Hero :: Exchange Support - Sense V.s. Nonsense ROMs

Jul 11, 2010

I have rooted 2.1 on my Sprint Hero. So far I have tried Fresh 2.3.3, Darchdroid 2.7 and PureHero 2.3.I rooted for several issues, most of which have been solved, but my number one issue seems to still be haunting me. Good corporate exchange support! Sense based ROM's (Fresh 2.3.3 and stock) support Exchanges security policy and force you to enter a PIN, but bring up the keyboard. My company requires number in the PIN and therefore I have to switch to numbers and enter my pin on a keyboard. I can no longer chew gum and use my phone at the same time. Nonsense based ROM's (Darch and Pure) don't require the PIN and allow me to use a pattern security on my phone, but they don't let me overlay my exchange calendar onto my phone with my google calendar. They only sync mail and contacts. Hope this is where I am missing something. This is a deal breaker for me since I have google calendars for everyone in my family and exchange for work. Got to see them all in one place to be where I need to be.I have tried Lockpicker on the sense ROM's, but then I have no phone security. I have too much info on my phone to go with no security, but I don't want to quit chewing gum.Any suggestions? Is there ways to pick and choose some of the features in sense?

HTC Hero :: Bluetooth Support - File Transfer Doesn't Work

Sep 3, 2009

Another day, another thing that I assumed the Hero would do because my last 3 WinMo phones have done it but doesn't...

Obviously BT file transfer doesn't work

I knew that voice dialling isn't support - why on earth not though?

I've just paired it with my BT car stereo, and I have also discovered that it doesn't download the phonebook to the stereo like it did from my TyTN II!

So how am I supposed to dial in the car!? I'm handsfree but to dial I can't voicedial or scroll through the phonebook, so the only option is to hope the number is in my received/missed/dialled calls, or pull over and dial it from my phone manually.

Is there any chance that this will appear in a future update?
