HTC Eris :: Wont Activate - Antenna Replaced By X
Oct 21, 2010
Hoping I just did something stupid, rooted my old eris, played around with xtrsense for a while and it sat in a drawer for even longer since I typically carry the Dinc....well then I wanted to try a froyo rom on it so downloaded and installed KaosFroyo on it, then I got sidetracked and it sat in the drawer again until I wanted to use it at work to test lotus traveler on android and here is where the fun starts. The Eris won't activate, its like the radio will not even turn on. The signal bars just have a little x by them, no matter what rom I throw on there or nand backup I use its like the radio is borked? Any ideas on how to fix? am I missing a radio update from somewhere? then fail #2 I can't find my password to download the android traveler beta now anyway...grrI just tried flashing a different radio still doing the same thing. I'm confused

I was wondering if any1 could help me understand sleep mode and how when it activates, as I'm not 100% convinced when my phone screen is off its in sleep mode.As far as the battery Sticy is concerned, I've been using handcent SMS for well over a month now, as well as disabled notifications in the original SMS program. Although the original program starts in the background when I get an SMS, which I noticed today when sending a test message to myself to make sure that handcent was defualt. It doesn't display a window or any other info.I don't use bluetooth, so I leave that off, as well as GPS unless I"m using google maps or something. Wifi is also a situational thing as well. I leave the Google Sync and mobile data on almost all the time, as I luv these features of the phone. I set disabled the auto backlight and set it to a Low comfortable level. After playing with this, I noticed that the phone made to audible notification noises about 10-20 seconds after the phone shut off, but not always. Is this the phone entering sleep mode? Or is this an app, if it is I get nothing on any screen say it was when I immediately turn screen back on.

I'm looking for a capability like my previous WinMo devices had, mainly for security if I lose my phone or leave it unattended. I'd like to be able to activate the screen after its 1 minute timeout without doing the swipe pattern. But, if the device is unused for "x" hours, I want the unlock swipe to be required.

Ive noticed that when i shut my phone off and turn it back on after this recent update from hand cent sms, i loose the hand cent icon and it is replaced with a red x instead. has anyone else had this issue? the only way Ive been able to fix it is with a un install and then reinstall which is a royal pain in the ass given that i don't restart my phone very often i still have to customize all over again.

Somehow I managed to get my PC to only recognize ROMaster ADB drivers only; but it doesn't work properly with ADB commands on my computer. I would like to revert it back to only detecting "normal" adb devices.
I believe I had install ROMaster Setup previously for data recovery purposes but have it uninstalled since.
I have tried to reinstall ROMaster Setup and uninstall it. Run Ccleaner and clean up the registry, uninstall and reinstall Google SDK (USB Drivers).
I have tried to manually select driver to install but only two ROMaster selection appears.
Using Windows XP.

I installed Nonsensical ROM on a Droid Eris, went to Verizon account online and hit "activate a device." I then dial *228 on the phone and I can hear the prompt telling me to press "1" to activate my phone. Problem is there is no way to bring up the dial pad! All that is on the screen is a speaker button and a back button. I am trying to find a stock ROM so that I can load that on it and see if I can get to the dial pad when I dial *228. P.S. I also tried *22890 and it still asking me to press "1" to activate! How am I gonna get this thing activated? I am phoneless until tomorrow unless someone here has an idea.

I got a replacement Fascinate as my old one had some quirks. The guy that did the transfer accidentally forgot to take my old phone back, so I now have my new one and my old one sitting in my lab.My old one doesn't work (deactivated), and the new one is activated. I'm going to return the old one tomorrow, but before I do, is there any way to get all the info on that one transferred to the new one? By that I mean apps, all my contacts, pictures, etc etc?

I have a Star Note N9770 which had a smashed display - daughter knelt on it. The phone still appeared to work, though we couldn't see anything. I bought a "bricked" N9770 on eBay and used the display unit from that (it really was bricked - wouldn't turn on or charge) to replace the smashed unit.
We now have a display and everything appears to work and it charges. Except for the colours on the display - they are very pale/faint/washed out (hard to describe but the full range of colours doesn't appear in the display - just mostly greens and pinks and all a bit grainy). I've tried the brightness and contrast levels, factory reset, hard reset, etc, but it makes no difference.
I'm guessing that this display unit is slightly different from the original, even though all the connections were identical and tbh, it reminds me of a driver issue in a PC.

I went on antennaseach.com and found a clearwire tower .13 miles from my house. Does this guarantee I will get 4G coverage? I'm a bit south of the L.A. area.

I want to use the FME female connector below the battery for an external antenna mod. I bought a FME cable for another phone and I'll see if it fits. I want to use a telescoping antenna for it for portability, but I'm open to using something like the Wilson Electronics mirror mount antenna.Has anyone done this? This is a general Verizon/FME question, but since I have a Dinc, I thought I'd post it here. I'm going to drill a hole in the back cover and route the cable to the top of the phone. I live in a weak signal area and drop about 10% of my calls.

Does anyone know how the Evo's antenna will compare with the Hero?I just moved to sprint to get the Evo, but had to switch early. My wife and I were given Heroes to hold us over for two weeks until the Evo launch.I'm noticing that i'm having reception issues in areas where my iphone, and Incredible got decent to great coverage. Is this an issue with the Hero alone or a sign of Sprints smaller footprint then AT&T and Verizon?

My reception at work is terrible. My colleagues have full reception, and I dont have a signal at all. Seems to be an issue with some of the desire handsets. Have any of you tried any passive antenna boosters, like this one: HTC Desire Antenna Booster ? Or some bigger boosters that I can place on my desk.
I love my phone, but it is essential that I can use it while im in the office.

Just came from twitter where HTCPedia had this article about the black, yellow and red insides of new phones. and they said the antenna was located on the back of the battery door and if you had it off you would have no signal haha im just a little amused i guess by that because i dont really understand how this works i mean if it doesnt connect somehow when the door is on and im a little worried the signal might not be the best what if the battery door gets loose or something idk what do you guys think From Black to Yellow and Red. HTC Adds Color to HD Mini, EVO 4G and Incredible Devices

When the application has a PARTIAL_WAKE_LOCK, the CPU stays turned on, but what about the cellular antenna? Does the PhoneStateListener not receive any change in state from the antenna when the PARTIAL_WAKE_LOCK is acquired?I have an application that needs to continuously read the signal strength while the user isn't using the phone.I suspect I need a FULL_WAKE_LOCK to do that. Is that true?

I am trying to install an external WIFI antenna on my tablet (BQ Maxwell 2 Plus, rooted, CM10.1). The model of the antenna is TP - Link 722n.I have downloaded the drivers from backports project and, after compiling them, I have 8 .ko modules:
- ath.ko
- ath9k.ko
- ath9k_common.ko
- ath9k_htc.ko
- ath9k_hw.ko
- cfg80211.ko
- compat.ko
- mac80211.ko
When I try to insmod the cfg80211.ko module, an error occurs. The dmesg output is:
Code:
cfg80211: exports duplicate symbol __ieee80211_get_channel (owned by kernel)
