HTC EVO 4G :: Have Clearwire Antenna By My House
Jul 12, 2010I went on antennaseach.com and found a clearwire tower .13 miles from my house. Does this guarantee I will get 4G coverage? I'm a bit south of the L.A. area.

View 4 RepliesSo I was looking at the Sprint 4G coverage map and they have pretty much all of my city blanketed as having 4G coverage but I wondered just how realistic that was so I went to the Clearwire website to look at their coverage map.CLEAR WiMAX 4G Coverage Area Map.I think this gives a much more "clear" view of just how your coverage will be. For intance, half of my block (luckily the half where my apartment resides) is listed as having Best Clear Coverage whereas the other half just has Clear Coverage.Just thought it would be useful for everyone to be able to have a better idea of your 4G coverage. Unless I'm wrong and Sprint and Clear's coverage are not necessarily the same thing.

She said the clearwire techs are working right now but the reason it was not announced is that their are some endangered birds nests in some of the towers preventing them from doing anything until they naturally leave. She said Wimax should be running in Tampa by the end of the summer.

Also I was wondering if you can put your own videos on it, by converting them, or do you have to buy videos.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using easytether on one of my desktops at my house. Everything works great except that the connection keeps dropping. At first I thought it was because I did not have IE up (use internet connection wizard so other computer access the internet through this connection) but I noticed it still drops connection even when I was surfing with IE. Anyone else experience this? Is there a timeout issue? Should I get a keep alive program like with using a standard modem?
View 13 Replies View RelatedSo my phone has this weird pattern of resetting about 2 minutes away from my house when I'm driving (happened in two opposite directions). It was just sitting in my pocket and I hear it reset (sometimes it reset multiple times on the same trip). I thought it was maybe the task killer running funny so I disabled it, and still it resets. Happens every time. I'm using Fresh 0.3 but it happened in earlier versions of Fresh too. Anyone else having this issue? Maybe it has to do with switching towers or something (in my house I get a very very very weak signal).

View 2 Replies View RelatedOn my EVO, my time without a signal is usually over 90%. I live in a good coverage area, but low bars inside of my house/office (both the same, where I am all day) I put on airplane mode for kicks, and in 12hrs, the battery dropped only 10%. So that being said, it seems to me as if there is a definite conclusion between signal strength and battery life. Any suggestions? and yes, I did the GSM-DCMA trick .

View 9 Replies View RelatedI cook a full meal for my family every night. And I do all the shopping. So this brings me to the desire for an...app for that. What I'm looking for is an app where I can scan the groceries as they come into the house, and it makes up a weekly menu for me from that. Hmm, not sure where the recipes would come from. Anyway, anyone have any ideas? Now that I've written it out, it seems like a tall order!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI use Bluetooth to connect to my landline phone when I am home. All my phones ring all over my house when my Droid rings. I can leave Bluetooth on all the time but I am afraid that will drain my battery.
Is there any app that will turn Bluetooth on and off when I arrive/leave my house?
I just got to my parents house and there is now a little flashing blue house icon above the signal lines. What does this mean???
View 9 Replies View RelatedI want to use the FME female connector below the battery for an external antenna mod. I bought a FME cable for another phone and I'll see if it fits. I want to use a telescoping antenna for it for portability, but I'm open to using something like the Wilson Electronics mirror mount antenna.Has anyone done this? This is a general Verizon/FME question, but since I have a Dinc, I thought I'd post it here. I'm going to drill a hole in the back cover and route the cable to the top of the phone. I live in a weak signal area and drop about 10% of my calls.
View 36 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know how the Evo's antenna will compare with the Hero?I just moved to sprint to get the Evo, but had to switch early. My wife and I were given Heroes to hold us over for two weeks until the Evo launch.I'm noticing that i'm having reception issues in areas where my iphone, and Incredible got decent to great coverage. Is this an issue with the Hero alone or a sign of Sprints smaller footprint then AT&T and Verizon?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI was having issues with constant dropped calls from my house, which is in an area according to the Sprint coverage map that should have excellent coverage. I went to my Sprint store, which is a repair center, and they told me to go to menu>settings>Wireless controls>Mobile network settings>Roaming, and switch from Automatic to Sprint only. I did this, and have not dropped a call yet. The tech told me that depending on exactly where you are and where the nearest Sprint tower is compared to the nearest say Verizon tower, the phone will continuously try to switch between the two towers for the best signal when set to Automatic, and that can cause dropped calls, static calls etc. Ever since I switched this setting I have not dropped one single call or gotten any static, even with 0-1 bars for signal strength. He told me only use Automatic if you are in an area where your phone has no service due to no nearby Sprint tower.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy reception at work is terrible. My colleagues have full reception, and I dont have a signal at all. Seems to be an issue with some of the desire handsets. Have any of you tried any passive antenna boosters, like this one: HTC Desire Antenna Booster ? Or some bigger boosters that I can place on my desk.
I love my phone, but it is essential that I can use it while im in the office.
Just came from twitter where HTCPedia had this article about the black, yellow and red insides of new phones. and they said the antenna was located on the back of the battery door and if you had it off you would have no signal haha im just a little amused i guess by that because i dont really understand how this works i mean if it doesnt connect somehow when the door is on and im a little worried the signal might not be the best what if the battery door gets loose or something idk what do you guys think From Black to Yellow and Red. Does the PhoneStateListener not receive any change in state from the antenna when the PARTIAL_WAKE_LOCK is acquired?I have an application that needs to continuously read the signal strength while the user isn't using the phone.I suspect I need a FULL_WAKE_LOCK to do that. Is that true?

The Eris won't activate, its like the radio will not even turn on. The signal bars just have a little x by them, no matter what rom I throw on there or nand backup I use its like the radio is borked? Any ideas on how to fix? am I missing a radio update from somewhere? then fail #2 I can't find my password to download the android traveler beta now anyway...grrI just tried flashing a different radio still doing the same thing. I'm confused

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was curious where the cell phone antenna for the 1x/3G coverage was located.I live in an area with excellent verizon service and when phone is in standby, the incredible gets one bar. When I make a call, it miraculously gets full coverage.I think its on the bottom of the phone, but is it on the very bottom edge (like where the microphone is) or is it along the back side of the phone. How is the best way to hold the phone to maximize service?

View 1 Replies View RelatedNew to this phone and loving it. I live out in the boonies and no DSL/Cable, no other carriers have 3G, so been using the tethered phone (Yes, 2GB + $10/GB ... I know!). Phone likes to switch between EDGE/3G. Phone unrooted.
1) Any app to easily force 3G only? I know about the dial #*#*197328640#*#* -> Option 1 -> Option 8 -> Option 4 -> RAT to WCDMA setting but would prefer an app for when I take the phone out with me.
2) Ordered an external antenna / connector. Will I really have to drill a hole in my battery cover? There has to be somewhere I can order a battery cover from with the hole there already? I can't be the only person wanting to do this.
Can anyone recommend a wireless software app that increase the wifi antenna capabilities? I get 1 bar (poor signal) in my house through 2 floors. It's a little ridiculous. Anyone else having similar problems?
