I picked up a bluetooth handsfree headset, is there a way to activate the voice command menu by pressing the key on the headset? (essentially eliminating dialing while driving)

I have a motorola bluetooth headset and with my old Storm I could push the button on the headset and it would say "Say a command" from here I could say "Call John Doe mobile" and it would call him up. Haven't figured out how to make this work on the Droid in the same manner natively. Is it possible or is there an application. Purpose of bluetooth is to be hands free. Its not very hands free if I have to pull my phone out my pocket to dial the number first to be able to use the headset.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a Blue Parrot B250-XT bluetooth headset,.. it connects to my Ally just fine, when the phone is set to auto-answer it works just fine,.. however, when I push the answer/end button while not on a call, it does nothing,.. I would expect it to activate voice dialing, as it has on other phones I've owned,.. how can I achieve this action?

Everyone interested can 'star' it to keep it on the top of the list. No comments to the bug are necessary. Clicking the star on the left adds to the number of complaints.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just discovered that BB 0.4 has bluetooth voice dialing from the headset. I have tried it on 2 different rooted droids with different headsets. Just have to press and hold the action button for a couple seconds and it pops up.

My wife keeps on saying that when she calls me that my voice is very echoy. is this a common issue w/ the Droid, or is there something I need to try to do to possibly fix this issue. Other then this, the phone is great, but because I live off my bluetooth headset this is a big issue for me.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a new Droid 2 running 2.3 and a Bluetooth headset (Samsung HM3500). Speech-to-text (of the sort activated by pushing the microphone button in any text-input field) does not work through the Bluetooth headset.
Oddly, after initially booting up the phone, it works through the built-in microphone. I then activate and pair my headset. Voice recognition doesn't work through the headset (or through the built-in mic). I then disable Bluetooth, turn off the headset. Voice recognition continues not to work!
I know the headset works. And when I press the headset button, it enters "voice command" mode where it asks me to "say a command." This mode works over the Bluetooth headset! Also, I tested this behavior in the Voice Recognizer of ApiDemos, and its also broken in the way described above.
I have an odd problem. When I press and hold the button on my Voyager Pro HD headset, it no longer activates voice dialing. I've tried uninstalling all voice related 3rd party apps; I've deleted the data and cleared the cache on Bluetooth Share, Voice Dialing and Voice Search.
I should add that my phone is a Vivid running 2.3.4 and HTC Sense 3.0.
the voice comman feature of the eris is pretty interesting. long press the green call button to bring it up, here are some suggested commands that came built into the my touch some work, some dont, if you try one let us know if it works or not.i do know that you can say "open (app name)" and it will open any app on your phone, it's pretty good, even got bonsai blast.

You know that cool, relatively new Voice Search that lets you text message, use navigation, etc, just through voice commands? Well, as many of you may know, if you pair a bluetooth headset with the EVO, and then press the voice dial button on the headset, it ll bring up Voice Dialer, an application that is known for not really working., at all. Just as when you press and hold the search button on the EVO Voice Search pops up, is there a way to make (map?) Voice Search to a bluetooth headset's voice dial button? In other words, so that when you press the button, instead of voice dialer, voice search will come up?
Looking for a Bluetooth headset that sounds great and does not cost more than $40-$50. Any and all suggestions would be appreciated. The cheaper the better.

Updated and now, when I press the call button on the headset, sometimes nuance voice control will open and ask "Say A Command"... i do so, and most of the time it will just go back to the home page. Sometimes it hears the command and will ask to confirm it. At that point, it just stays there, even after i say "Yes" 55 times, and then goes back to home screen. If I manually dial the number it will route it to the headset and all is well with the world. But driving, this is a pain and crashing is a really sucky option. Anyone else have anything like this happening? Any ideas? I am sure this issue has been beaten like a slow horse but I am tired of swerving all over the road trying to make a call.....

2. If it will work, any recommendations such a headset? I'm no audiophile, so my main issues would be comfort and battery life.
I've searched the forums but haven't found a fix for this yet. I like to call people on my way home from work. I used to tap my bluetooth, have my phone in my purse and say 'Call Bob Mobile' and woosh - it calls Bob on his mobile. I've tried the voice dialer that came with the phone and it can't understand a work I say even when I'm holding it right next to me. It's driving me nuts. Are there any apps that will make my bluetooth call Bob when I tap it?

It seems like a huge pain to have to press an icon everytime I get in the car and everytime I leave to turn it back on, especially since I don't get too many calls while I'm driving. Is there a way to have BT cut on when the car dock app is activated (I have the Motorola car dock app)? And if not, does anyone know if the drain in battery on the DX is significant?

View 6 Replies View RelatedAnyways, whenever i'm listening to music, and I press the play/pause button on my headset to control my music tracks, my phone turns on. This get's really annoying because every time my phone turns on, it stays on for a few seconds, and this really kills battery life. I've tried lurking around my phone's settings and even my launcher settings.
My phone is a rooted HTC Wildfire S running AOKP custom rom with Nova Launcher Prime. And if it makes any difference, I'm using the "Start" lock screen from the Play Store.
