View 4 RepliesI was wondering if any1 could help me understand sleep mode and how when it activates, as I'm not 100% convinced when my phone screen is off its in sleep mode.As far as the battery Sticy is concerned, I've been using handcent SMS for well over a month now, as well as disabled notifications in the original SMS program. Although the original program starts in the background when I get an SMS, which I noticed today when sending a test message to myself to make sure that handcent was defualt. It doesn't display a window or any other info.I don't use bluetooth, so I leave that off, as well as GPS unless I"m using google maps or something. Wifi is also a situational thing as well. I leave the Google Sync and mobile data on almost all the time, as I luv these features of the phone. I set disabled the auto backlight and set it to a Low comfortable level. After playing with this, I noticed that the phone made to audible notification noises about 10-20 seconds after the phone shut off, but not always. Is this the phone entering sleep mode? Or is this an app, if it is I get nothing on any screen say it was when I immediately turn screen back on.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a capability like my previous WinMo devices had, mainly for security if I lose my phone or leave it unattended. I'd like to be able to activate the screen after its 1 minute timeout without doing the swipe pattern. But, if the device is unused for "x" hours, I want the unlock swipe to be required.

View 5 Replies View RelatedHoping I just did something stupid, rooted my old eris, played around with xtrsense for a while and it sat in a drawer for even longer since I typically carry the Dinc....well then I wanted to try a froyo rom on it so downloaded and installed KaosFroyo on it, then I got sidetracked and it sat in the drawer again until I wanted to use it at work to test lotus traveler on android and here is where the fun starts. The Eris won't activate, its like the radio will not even turn on. The signal bars just have a little x by them, no matter what rom I throw on there or nand backup I use its like the radio is borked? Any ideas on how to fix? am I missing a radio update from somewhere? then fail #2 I can't find my password to download the android traveler beta now anyway...grrI just tried flashing a different radio still doing the same thing. I'm confused

View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed Nonsensical ROM on a Droid Eris, went to Verizon account online and hit "activate a device." I then dial *228 on the phone and I can hear the prompt telling me to press "1" to activate my phone. Problem is there is no way to bring up the dial pad! All that is on the screen is a speaker button and a back button. I am trying to find a stock ROM so that I can load that on it and see if I can get to the dial pad when I dial *228. P.S. I also tried *22890 and it still asking me to press "1" to activate! How am I gonna get this thing activated? I am phoneless until tomorrow unless someone here has an idea.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI read the thread at http://androidforums.com/support-troubleshooting-incredible/85052-bluetooth-battery-consumption.html and noticed everyone saying that BT significantly drains your battery when on but not in use. It seems like a huge pain to have to press an icon everytime I get in the car and everytime I leave to turn it back on, especially since I don't get too many calls while I'm driving. Is there a way to have BT cut on when the car dock app is activated (I have the Motorola car dock app)? And if not, does anyone know if the drain in battery on the DX is significant?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo Option 1 doesn't do anything except for telling me to contact a CSR. Option two gives me the music and tells me it can't activate the phone and gives me a 1800 number that does little for me at 3 in the morning.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm looking to pick up a Droid (with no contract... my wallet says ouch) but its okay because I can partially offset the costs by selling my current phone) . My family made the rushed decision to switch to Verizon in October and I ended up getting the Samsung Rogue. I currently have the family plan + a basic texting plan (200 or 300 messages a month, I forgot which one lol) + 25MB Basic Data. Would I be able to activate the Droid via the Verizon website or by phone without having to add anything extra. I know they will probably ask me to get the unlimited data, but I was wondering if there is anyway around this? I really like my rogue, but it doesn't compare to Droid. The rogue has no wifi , and its GPS is completely limited due to VZW Navigator, Not to mention the Android OS + Apps + 5MP Camera

View 10 Replies View RelatedThis may have already been discovered but this weekend while holding my Droid I stumbled upon a cool (maybe useless) feature. If you have the "Google Search" shortcut on your home screen like I do, all you have to do is lightly shake the Droid to activate the search feature. You have to be on the same home screen as the Google Search shortcut. The weird thing is I cannot reproduce my findings 100% of the time. For instance, this morning it worked 7 out of 10 times.
View 20 Replies View RelatedMy friend recently received a Motorola Droid from Google. He gave it to me as a gift and when I tried activating it and putting my number on it, Verizon said that it already has an active business account. I assume this is google's account. I heard that google gives you 30 days free service, but my question is how/can I bypass the 30 days and just put it on my account, or do I have to wait until the 30 days are up to put my own number on it?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI bought my Droid on line via Phandroid/Verizon Wireless just after midnight on Friday and filled out all the info, picked a Verizon plan, gave them my current cell number (which is an AT&T Mobile number) and checked the boxes that said "yes, please port my old number on to my new Verizon phone".
So I get the phone today (superfast -- I hadn't even paid for overnight delivery). But when I follow the instructions to activate, the activation fails. I touch the Droid on the touchscreen, it brings up the phone, I follow the voice prompts and dial my cell number, but it doesn't work.
Spoke with a VW customer service rep (late night Saturday night). He gave me a different customer service # to call on Sunday for help with "porting."
I sure hope I get this straightened out quickly. Maybe I should've just bought the Droid at a Verizon store and let the VW store guys activate it for me.
The VW customer service rep was saying I should see a "temporary Verizon cell #" somewhere on my receipt or packing slip. But there isn't any. Just the mobile # that I'm trying to port over from AT&T.
Did I do something wrong when I ordered the phone? Or is it normal for there to be a delay in getting the old # ported?
Just installed the new 2.2 updated from Verizon/Motorola and received a message that my Exchange account needed to Activate Device Administrator with a whole bunch of permissions. Anyone else see this, know what it is?

View 2 Replies View Relatedso I've been thinking and i really DON'T want the guy at Best Buy messing around with my phone since i'll be numeric uno and he won't have a damn clue what he is doing... i know they have to activate it to your account before you can have it, but can they just scan the codes on the box to do that... i have all my contacts on my google account so i don't need a transfer or anything else. can he just scan the box, move it to my account, then give me the box without him even opening it?
View 25 Replies View RelatedI'm new to the Android based phones but it looks like I will be getting a EVO and possibly a Hero or Moment. My main question is if I should do anything to the phone (like rooting it) before I activate it? Like is there something that works better or makes it better if done before it's activated? Or should I just activate it right away and then mess with it? About the only reason I would be interested in rooting it is to have tethering (Wireless if possible).
