Is there any chance of activating the Eris on Sprint? A job change has forced me into using Sprint and the Blackberry they provided. I hate it and want to use my Eris that is unactivated now. Any ideas? Flashing a new radio?

So im trying to install the amon_ra recovery to eventually flash my radio, ive rooted my phone, gotten every thing done right so far, and now im trying to open terminal and enter two commands
su
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-heroc-v1.6.2.img
but when i try the first it says permission denied.
any help?
Is there a specific way to activate it?
Btw im sorry for putting out in the topic my hero auto changed it when i posted it this morning.

I was just reading through some posts and saw something that intrigued me. Is there a way to flash a Sprint based rom and use the NASCAR App that they exclusively have? Kind of like Verizon with the NFL?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was looking at the phone info, found by dialing *#*#4636#*#* one button in this is "Turn off radio".I'm interested to know if this could be used to work around the current inability to do airplane mode and enable wifi at the same time on the Eris. Could you use this option to turn off the radio, disable mobile network, and then enable wifi?Has anyone seen if this works, and if turning the radio on and off is as easy as finding this button? I'm a bit afraid to try it myself right now.
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust in case someone else has the same dilema i had by buying thier EVO online for full price so they dindt have to get the 2 year contract. but then realizing that sprint requires a new 2 year contract with every new line you activete regardles of you bought the phone outright or not. heres how how to get around it.
1 Buy EVO 4G wherever.
2 Activated old phone with a new number on the basic Month to month 200 plan (had to be done at the Sprint store they wold not let me activate over the phone with this plan)
3 go home and upgrade plan online to 99.00 unlimited everything
4 Swap old phone with EVO under activate new phone online
5 Port your phone number from whereever you have it to Sprint replacing the new phone you just got when you avtivated the line
Thats it, it quite a few steps but atleast you wont have to worry about getting locked in to a new 2 year contract.
Does anyone know of an app that can test what frequencies are being used in the area? I'm trying to figure out if something is interfering with my wireless router, and if so what it is. I've got "WiFi analyzer", but that doesn't show anything other than wireless signals directly from routers, even though a cordless phone runs on the same basic frequency.
In other words, I'd like to find an app that shows what frequencies are present near my phone, including what my phone is putting out. Is that possible?
I have looked in book and cannot find how you activate speakerphone on hero.

View 1 Replies View RelatedA long time ago I upgraded to the 2.15 radio. Everything worked great except for one thing. Occasionally (once every 2-3 days) my 3g goes off and I can't turn it back on. I'll toggle airplane mode to no avail. Is there a way I can re flash the 2.15 radio? I wouldn't even mind returning to stock before re-rooting if thats what it takes.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if any1 could help me understand sleep mode and how when it activates, as I'm not 100% convinced when my phone screen is off its in sleep mode.As far as the battery Sticy is concerned, I've been using handcent SMS for well over a month now, as well as disabled notifications in the original SMS program. Although the original program starts in the background when I get an SMS, which I noticed today when sending a test message to myself to make sure that handcent was defualt. It doesn't display a window or any other info.I don't use bluetooth, so I leave that off, as well as GPS unless I"m using google maps or something. Wifi is also a situational thing as well. I leave the Google Sync and mobile data on almost all the time, as I luv these features of the phone. I set disabled the auto backlight and set it to a Low comfortable level. After playing with this, I noticed that the phone made to audible notification noises about 10-20 seconds after the phone shut off, but not always. Is this the phone entering sleep mode? Or is this an app, if it is I get nothing on any screen say it was when I immediately turn screen back on.

View 3 Replies View RelatedHoping I just did something stupid, rooted my old eris, played around with xtrsense for a while and it sat in a drawer for even longer since I typically carry the Dinc....well then I wanted to try a froyo rom on it so downloaded and installed KaosFroyo on it, then I got sidetracked and it sat in the drawer again until I wanted to use it at work to test lotus traveler on android and here is where the fun starts. The Eris won't activate, its like the radio will not even turn on. The signal bars just have a little x by them, no matter what rom I throw on there or nand backup I use its like the radio is borked? Any ideas on how to fix? am I missing a radio update from somewhere? then fail #2 I can't find my password to download the android traveler beta now anyway...grrI just tried flashing a different radio still doing the same thing. I'm confused
