HTC EVO 4G :: How To Install Downloaded Zipped Applications
Aug 9, 2010I need help installing applications that I downloaded from a friend.They are in the form of zipped files. Is there anyone that can help me. Possibly send me a link with directions on how to install.I searched for the thread but had no luck. First of all I downloaded the file and it is zipped.So i unzipped it and copied the unzipped files onto my sd card into an applications folder I had created. From there I opened the applications folder with Astro but I dont know where to go from here.

Jul 15, 2010I'm starting out and trying to unzip a zip file back to source. I'm using this code, my source is call "/mint/sdcard/Out.zip" to output "/mnt/sdcard/Out.text" and it seems to work. Now, if I have many files in Out.zip how do I automatically unzip all files individually with the correct filename without creating Out.text and then write onto it?

Nov 4, 2010I am working on an android app. Where i need to parse some plist files from assets folder. I do understand how to use assets in android but now problem is that file sizes are more than 1MB and so android gives error Data Exceeds UNCOMPRESS_DATA_MAX (2183588 vs 1048576). how to access such larger files from assets? Also I cant reduce a file into small buffers because i am just sending it to "DocumentBuilder.parse(in)" as a whole so can not use buffer. The error is on line: Document doc = db.parse(in).

Jan 18, 2010I've done 30 minutes of searching on the site, read a bunch of threads about file management, SMS/handcent and I still don't have an answer to this: Where in god's name is handcent storing files that were sent via SMS?
I clicked "download" in handcent and received confirmation that the image downloaded. Already have a file manager installed, have browsed pretty much every directory on the phone and the sd card looking for the file, to no avail.

Oct 22, 2010I havent been able to find the zip or rar files my phone downloads (or at least I think it has downloaded) through the Browser app.
THe very first time I tried this it worked fine. i downloaded a zip file from filestube and it immediately showed up in the notification bar that it was downloading. When it was done i clicked the notification and i unzipped it with androzip or something like that. Worked like a charm...
But now i have tried many times, and i never get any confirmation that any download has begun in the notification bar or anything. The only thing that leads me to believe that some download is actually taking place is that, for instance, if iam downloading from megaupload, if i click the download button 2x it will take me to window saying that "this i.p address is already downloading a file".
But i cant find any evidence of this on the phone? I have looked through all the folders on the sd card, but no luck.
General :: Why Downloaded PDF Files Are Not In Full Screen
Jan 10, 2014I have downloaded several pdf ebooks and uploaded to play book via Google play book app. When I try to read them, that pdf files pages are not fully fit to the screen. But when I read the Google play auto added books, they are fitted with the screen height and width. Is it a pdf file issue? If it's my pdf issue, how do I correct them?

I've had SholesMod 2.05 on my phone and haven't loaded any other Roms, did I lose root somehow and if I did how come ROM Manager doesn't re-root? I can still get into recovery by power+x.

Nov 18, 2009When I try to play mp3 files that I have downladed directly to my phone the default music player cannot seem to play them when other applications (like Browser) are running. Music simply quits when I switch to another open application. I do not have this problem with music I have manually transferred to the phone, and the only difference that I can identify between them is the location of the files: downloads on the internal sd and others on the external. Is there any reason why the file location should be an issue?

Nov 8, 2009I went to Google Labs and looked around and found Places Directory. The page shows a barcode and said I could scan that and download the app so that's what I did. My browser opened up and showed that the file was downloaded.
So I went back to the home screen but couldn't find Places Directory. I decided to manually download and install it from the market and that worked fine.
My question is, do I now have a downloaded copy of this app that is just sitting somewhere taking up space? I can't figure out where files downloaded by the browser go to, please help.

Dec 27, 2013I recently purchased a Galaxy S3, that was completely factory reset with JB 4.1.2.
I downloaded a couple of .jpg files to use as backgrounds, but then decided not to use them - but left them on the device (not in the original download location however)
A couple days ago I received the 4.3 update from AT&T, which seemed to go off without a hitch. But now, the 3 files I downloaded seem to continue to download. - at least I get a notification that the files are downloaded (3 different notifications).
I deleted the files to see if that would stop it - no luck.
I went to Chrome and closed all the tabs (a couple were still open to the location I downloaded them from) - no luck.
When I get the notifications, if I click on it, it says it can't find the file.If I just clear it off, they come back a few hours later.

May 6, 2012First off, I maintain a Sidekick 4G ROM, and it's been pretty successful so far. But, the default Launcher in system/app is launcher2.apk and it works no mistake about it. But I want to change this launcher to FTL (Faster Than Light) because it performs a lot better for the scenario I'm in. However, I remove the launcher2.apk, and include the FTL.apk, and after flashing I'm left without a launcher, even renaming the FTL.apk to launcher2.apk doesn't work. I even went into META-INF folder and changed the name lowveld to CERT (like it is in most launchers)
