is there a way to get rid of the constant message telling me I have an update ready to be installed? Or delete this update I have downloaded in order to stay on 1.5 without the reminders?After downloading I stopped short of installing the update thinking maybe I should check forums and see if there are any probs. Sure enough, it looks like that's all there is.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if 2.1 still had the following bugs/problems that myself, and a lot of people seem to encounter with 1.5, or if it's phone specific not OS specific.
1. Problems receiving picture messages. Specifically receiving a message saying "Message not downloaded. Retransmission scheduled for XX:XX", even if you click "Download" button multiple times.
2. When receiving a text message longer than 160 characters, you get a message saying "The preceding messages modified. Media objects removed." and the sender gets a message saying that you do not support enhanced messaging service, even though you DO actually receive the entire message. I know the Incredible doesn't have this problem, but the Eris does.
Yesterday my Droid Incredible kept telling me there was an update to my phone. I waited until 8 or 9 hours later and then did the update last night. EVERY single app, contact, messgae, email...everything is GONE...the phone is like the day I got it. I had no warning and I'm beyond devastated. I was able to use Backup Assistant for my contacts, LOTS of pictures are gone, ALL my message threads are gone and on Monday, I'm going to have to reset my Exchange email at work. I've reloaded my personal email and some apps I remember, but I cannot tell you how upset I am.
One of the biggest problems is I don't know what I don't have? I had so many apps, and I don't have a record of them.
Is there some way to back up everything on the phone, all settings, etc, to a website so this never happens again? I am NOT rooted and a I have Froyo 2.2
Today I called Mexico Sony Ericsson support, I asked about update for Xperia X10, they told it has been released since yesterday 19th september, I've been trying to download this updating using companion software and the updating system from the phone & I get notifications which say "your phone already has the latest software" , Can some one tell me what is happening, is it true the update is ready? I downloaded a couple of .jpg files to use as backgrounds, but then decided not to use them - but left them on the device (not in the original download location however)
A couple days ago I received the 4.3 update from AT&T, which seemed to go off without a hitch. But now, the 3 files I downloaded seem to continue to download. - at least I get a notification that the files are downloaded (3 different notifications).
I deleted the files to see if that would stop it - no luck.
I went to Chrome and closed all the tabs (a couple were still open to the location I downloaded them from) - no luck.
When I get the notifications, if I click on it, it says it can't find the file.If I just clear it off, they come back a few hours later.

Ok from Velocity 0.2 with Clockworkmod and V9 SW version I flashed the stock V6 Rom, then flashed stock recovery. got ota updates to V8 and then ZVB without any errors. SW Version on phone read VS740ZVB. I then rerouted, applied Clockworkmod recovery and installed Velocity 0.2 and then the GNMTurbo4 kernel. SW Version on phone reads VS740ZVB. Then another OTA update showed up. It claimed to be 24.9MB just like the ZVB update. Of course it would not install because I was using custom recovery.
My question is, what is this update? Is it the ZVB update coming through again? Did my ZVB update not apply correctly or is it not recognized by Verizon since I'm using custom recovery and rom? Is there a new update that I'm missing out on, and if so, what is it, and do I need to apply it?
Lots of questions, I know.Just wondering what exactly is going on and do I need to do anything about it? Is there any way to pull info on this update from the downloaded file, and if so, where can I find the file and how do I get info from it?
So I downloaded the unroot file, installed it onto the SD card (formatted by the phone), and when I load Hboot it finds no update. It just brings up the normal menu (fastboot, clear storage, simlock, etc.).

I currently have about 13 updates available, but I hate that the updates ADD to the size of the app instead of replacing what you have. Eventually, after updating Google Maps a few more times, the thing is gonna be over 10MB... not that that is HUGE necessarily but a few apps like that, that keep adding on 1 or 2 MB per update will definitely add up. Sometimes I will uninstall and reinstall again, so as not to end up with a much bigger file size-- however, I'm not sure that always works as I think it should. Anyhoo, what is your application update process? Update all? None? Just ones you think are necessary? Also, sometimes updates are awful, so I try to read comments before updating, although there is usually someone who's not happy no matter what.
