General :: How To Increase WiFi Power On Mediatek Phones

May 16, 2013

I've been looking for a way to increase wifi power on Mediatek phones (that are well known for having poor wifi reception).

I found two files:
- iwmulticall
- iwconfig

Those two are unable to modify tx-power on wlan0. (iwconfig wlan0 txpower 32)

Code:

wlan0 Disconnected ESSID:""
Mode:Managed Access Point: Not-Associated Tx-Power=off
RTS thr=0 B Fragment thr:off
Encryption key:off
Power Management period:2
Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

Also I found this :

Code:

coex_wifi_rssi_upper_limit=0xD2
coex_wifi_rssi_mid_limit=0xC8
coex_wifi_rssi_lower_limit=0xBF
coex_wifi_pwr_high=0xA
coex_wifi_pwr_mid=0xA
coex_wifi_pwr_low=0xA

how to change that txpower value ? Is there anything to do in init.rc ?

Android :: Wireless Shortcut Wifi Gps?

Apr 12, 2010

This is going to seem like a strange question, which may end in me seeming very delusional, but I will try to explain as best as I can.

I just got my new Samsung Moment and have been playing around with it. And I let my 7 year old nephew play with it. He was on the home screen pressing something on the screen or the buttons, when a giant (i think it was a) battery thing that had like 4 different options inside of it, Wifi [on off] Gps [on off] 3g or something [on off] and bluetooth [on off]. It was a really quick way to turn those wireless options on and off. And he doesnt remember how he got their and I didnt see. Hopefully we werent just seeing things.

HTC Incredible :: Wifi Hotspot Vs Wireless Tethering

Sep 19, 2010

I recently rooted my Incredible and installed Cyanogen 6.00 RC3. I liked some things about it but missed some of the stock HTC widgets and apps. The Cyanogen rom had wifi hot spot, and it worked great. I could connect more than one computer to it, as it acted like a Hotspot.

Today i reflashed to Virtuous 2.7 Rom, which is alot like the stock 2.2. I got back the things I missed in Cyanogen but no wifi hotspot. Instead, there is "Wireless Tethering" which doesn't seem to work. The latest version is installed, version 2.0.5-pre9. Neither of my computers can "see" the connection.

Is there any way I can get the wifi hot spot app that was in Cyanogen and install it on my phone with the Virtuous 2.7 Rom? wireless tethering really doesn't do what I want it to.

Samsung Epic 4G :: Connecting To Wifi After Wireless Tether

Oct 11, 2010

I just got my epic last week and had it rooted within hours. I have to say, I do love this phone. But I have noticed a slight inconvenience. I have installed the wireless tether app, and it works like a charm. No problem connecting other gadgets to it. But once I'm done tethering, and switch back to using wifi, the phone doesn't seem to want to connect to my home's wifi. I've tried reseting the phone, manually killing the tether app, and force closing the app under the applications tab in settings. But still no connection. Eventually, after 30mins or so, th phone will be able to connect once again. Has anyone else had this issue? It just seems somewhat of an unexpected problem, and a minor inconvenience. Any information on this or a possible fix would be greatly appreciated.

Games :: Datel Wifi Wireless Retro Controller

Jun 1, 2010

Wii Wireless Retro Controller - Codejunkies US It's a completely wireless version of the classic controller for a Nintendo Wii. was hoping it would be a better replacement for the wiimote for playing SNES games on my Nexus One using SNESoid.It is! Everything synced like a snap by going into the SNESoid controls, enabling the option for "use input method" and turning off the virtual keypad. Every function available on the controller works well, and is recognized by the Wiimote software available in the market by searching for wiimote. I am using the free (donate) version made by CCCP.You then just manually configure each button in SNESoid. If you are using the screen upside down option, you'll need to reverse your directions of course. I prefer to do this so I can set my phone down and have the volume buttons be on the top of the phone instead of the bottom of the phone. There is no lag that I can detect, and I've tried it with 5 games. I've tried it with Zelda, Super Metroid, R-Type, and Street Fighter, and Super Mario World. Out of these games, Super Metroid And Street Fighter by far has the more complicated control scheme, but as I've played this game fairly recently I didn't spend a lot of time trying it out.

Some thoughts:
It is a lot more comfortable than you might think. It's shaped basically like a classic controller, the rubberized grips on the back are VERY solidly put on, I couldn't even take them off if I wanted to. These shouldn't be falling off anytime soon, they are on there with a deathgrip! It's pretty light.

The only button that does not work on the controller with the phone is of course the power button. This is used to turn off and on a Wii, useless for the phone of course. The sync button on the back works perfectly, and you will have to use it whenever you turn the controller off by pressing the power button on the controller. Which is a good thing, as the controller can be disabled from being able to send data when you're not using it. More battery saving there I'm sure.Some sites have suggested it has a plugin for mini usb so you can recharge some rechargeable AAA batteries with it, mine does not. AAA batteries only.The D pad seems to not be as good as it could be, it feels like it doesn't stick up high enough, and at times it seems like it doesn't recognize a key press. It's not as good as the d pad on a PS3 sixaxis controller, that's for sure and it's not quite as good as the d pad on a wiimote.Which is fine by me, even with a PC emulator, I tend to prefer to use the analog sticks even for digital controls except for games such as street fighter and the like, which I don't play anymore. So I use the analog sticks to be setup as the digital controls. Both sticks are recognized by the software and in Snesoid. Anyone who'se played these games is going to want to instantly know. OMG CAN YOU DRAGON PUNCH WITH IT!
Not with using the dpad. The dpad on this is not very good. It was tolerable for Zelda, but it just doesn't fly for Street Fighter. Not even remotely. I couldn't even fireball with it. Dragon punching is pretty hard at first. Maybe I'll get better at it. Strangely enough, this is EXACTLY how it was when I was a kid playing this game on my SNES at home. In the arcade it was a lot easier. I'm not sure why I can't do it on this controller very well, It works PERFECTLY for super metroid, which is great news. You don't program in the diagonal buttons in snesoid, you just program in the 4 way directions and the phone's built in 8 way notch works perfectly for aiming diagonally if you don't want to use the shoulder buttons to do this. Great news as it's one of my all time favorite games.But oh well, I don't really feel like playing street fighter on the phone, except for maybe showing off to friends. Well, that would be fun in and of itself, but not really. If I don't use ryu, ken, or sagat, all of the characters control perfectly.

It's recognized by the software as a classic controller, so I'm sure that a couple of months ago this would NOT have worked. The wiimote software was only recently enabled to work with classic controllers.By utilizing the wiimote software, it looks like there is no limitation with how many button presses you can do on it at one time, which is a hardware limitation in the droid phone using something such as a game gripper.In a nutshell, if you don't mind shelling out $50 for it, don't hesitate to buy it! It took a week to ship, and the $9 shipping including UPS tracking service. A signature was not required.I'm happy with it . It's about 30% longer than my phone, just a hair wider, and a lot thicker. Not pocket worthy unless you're talking a cargo pocket, but very easy to throw in your bag.PS: If your phone is expensive I'd only recommend using this where you know some jerk won't snatch the phone off your table or something.

Motorola Milestone :: No WiFi Scan For Office Wireless Network

Sep 29, 2010

I got myself a Samsung Galaxy S. And decided to sell my Milestone to a guy. So when he is testing out the phone the WiFi doesn't scan his office WiFi. It scan every WiFi around us except the office WiFi. I use my Milestone's WiFi all the time. And all the time it scan and detect all the WiFi. Infact 30 mins before the sale I was using the Milestone's WiFi at school to find a map to his place.

Weird thing is when I use my Galaxy S to scan WiFi, it scanned all the WiFi and his office's WiFi too. So does anyone know why my Milestone is able to scan everyone else WiFi except his office's WiFi? It couldn't be hidden because my Galaxy S was about to scan his WiFi. This is extremely bad luck, because I know my Milestone is in perfect working condition and now he would think I'm scamming him.

Android :: Unable Wifi Connectivity / Cisco Wireless Router

Oct 12, 2010

So, I will try to be as detailed as possible, but this may be outside the scope of this forum. I will respond to any direct questions in regards to my configuration.I have a brand new Motorola Droid 2 and a Cisco 851w wireless router which I have configured myself.I can successfully associate the droid 2 to my wireless network. It obtains an IP address, subnet mask, gateway, etc.Using an android market ping utility, however I cannot ping externally or even to my gateway.I've tried the following in the process of my troubleshooting:tatically assigning my droid's internal addresses (and explicitly naming DNS).Unhiding my SSID Provisioning an alternate completely unsecured, unhidden wireless SSID (as opposed to an original hidden SSID, WPA2/PSK configuration)Restarting the phone and routerLaptop devices are able and have been able to associate, and pass traffic without issue for over a year.I cannot really pinpoint an issue with this setup, as I am able to associate and browse consumer/business wireless networks elsewhere without issue. Searches for the above described issue yield the same suggestions I have attempted in the process of my troubleshooting.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: WiFi Function - Roger Wireless

I had mine X10i over 4 months now, no matter how I updated the version or reset the device back to factory default, the WiFi still did not work properly unless I re-start the device. The WiFi only can be turn on is when the device just turned on. If the WiFi connection got disconnected or was being turned off, then it can NEVER be connect it back or NEVER can be turn back on. This is killing me that I have to at least re-start my phone twice a day. Another thing is that if I don't turn on my WiFi at the time the device was turned on, then I never could be able to turn on the WiFi again. What is the issue with this function?

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: WiFi Worked Fine But Not Connected To Home Wireless

Oct 29, 2010

I had a new phone that the phone company forced me to block by not giving me the correct code for unlock (which I paid the phone company for), and they said sorry and after 5 mths with a new phone in a box (while in another country and not being able to use it), they decided to exchange the phone. They exchanged the phone and wouldnt give me a new one since the original problem wasn't reported before 7 days after purchase, but 9 days pff. The exchange is refurbished or something but is perfectly new looking and works amazingly well.

It connected to like 2-3 networks while I was away in that country getting the phone changed and now I'm back home and it will not connect to my home connection. I have changed every thing around and back and I have verified all settings, WiFi on and off. Hard reset - it will not connect. It says searching and then connection and then disconnected etc. Doesn't even say obtaining IP addy or anything. It doesn't say anything or give errors at all, it just will not connect.

HTC Droid Eris :: Unable To Connect To Campus WiFi (WPA2 Wireless Network)

Apr 28, 2010

Ever since flashing the 2.1 leaks (V1 and then V2), I have not been able to connect to my university's WPA2-enterprise wireless network. After I enter my login info (the network uses PEAP with MSCHAPv2, so it doesn't need any certificates), the phone connects as expected and gets a valid IP address, verifiable with netcfg. Before any traffic is allowed to pass to the outside world, however, the device connecting has to go to an authentication page in a browser. When I attempt to go to that page, I get an error titled "Data Connectivity Problem" that states "A secure connection could not be established" which only presents an option to acknowledge the error.

Since I can't load that authentication page, the network is entirely unusable. I did not encounter this problem with 1.5, but since I'm running the V2 leak, reverting is not an option.Has anyone else seen this type of behavior? I can't identify if the problem is in the actual link not being established properly (seems unlikely, as the phone is given an IP address, but perhaps the PEAP layer is having some sort of issue?) or if it has to do with the SSL certificates used for the network authentication page (they're signed, but I'm fairly certain that the name if the site they're signed for is not the name that they've given the new auth server).
