make sure to right mouse click and eject before just unplugging the usb cord. i corrupted my micro sd by doing this over and over. i had to put the sd into a digi cam and format it before win7, win xp, or the evo could see it. luckily i had my sd backed-up to my laptop hard drive.

My CLIQ died a couple of days ago. I was charging it and I think it over heated because it was in the sun. To be safe don't charge it where it can be exposed to sunlight.

The CSR at Verizon, who was finally able to cancel my Inc replacement, mentioned something about my card being charged full retail when it goes back to the warehouse. I was like "WTF?". I ordered my original for $199.
She told me that when they are shipped back to the warehouse, they don't read the notes on your account and people are being charged the full retail price. She offered to monitor my account to ensure this does not happen.
Not sure about the whole dynamics of this, but its salt in the wound for me.
Just a heads up for anyone returning a defective Inc. that see a mysterious five hundred and some dollar charge from Verizon.

I'm getting a ServiceConnectionLeaked message that I don't understand.
There are 3 activities and a remote service, all the activities use the same remote service. The main window, activity 1, starts up, auto-starts the service and binds to it. The user then starts activity 2 to do something. The user now wants activity 3, so the code in activity 2 puts some data in an intent and starts activity 1 via startActivity (). When activity 1 is started, it reads the data in the intent and starts activity 3.
This all works as expected except that while activity 3 is starting I get the ServiceConnectionLeaked warning. This is odd because the code that unbinds from the service has never been called and the service connection continues to operate just fine. If the user backs out of the main window the service is unbound and everything shuts down correctly.
Because the UI design doesn't want activity 2 to stack on top of 3, or 3 on top of 2 I use a FLAG_ACTIVITY_CLEAR_TOP flag when starting activity 1. (I tested with this flag removed and the leak warning goes away but I wind up with extra activities/windows in the stack).
To make it even a bit weirder, if I run through the same scenario again, e.g. close activity 3 to get back to activity 1, open 2, switch to 3 there is no leakage the second and successive times, only the first time (near as I can tell).
We are developing an application which uses the BufferedInputStream class several times, and we are getting an annoying message in the logcat:
I/global ( 749): Default buffer size used in BufferedInputStream constructor. It would be better to be explicit if an 8k buffer is required.
We cannot meet the suggestion all the times and it's very annoying and it doesn't make much sense. Is it possible to remove that warning message? Or to change the log level to fine instead of info or warning, for example, so that it doesn't appear in the logcat messages?
Before you download an App it gives you the warning about what the App has access to. I had a new one today, and I'm not sure of the implications.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an app that receives and stores SMS messages. The main use is to run in the background, although it does have a full GUI when running in the foreground. I'm using a notification with the FLAG_ONGOING_EVENT flag so users can tell the application is running, even if it's in the background. However, the user could easily close the app by viewing the main screen and clicking the back button. The notification icon goes away, but I would like to be able to warn the user that closing the app would prevent it from capturing the SMS messages. Is there any way to prompt the user if they really want to exit the application when they hit the back button, and prevent the exit if they say no? Or should I take a different approach? And a bonus question: is there a way of receiving an SMS message, but prevent it from passing on to, say, the Messenging app?

I am using ADW, using 3 screens with about 6 program icons on each. I am also using the Beautiful Weather App, Google Voice and the Web History. I am also using Maildroid as my yahoo mail client along side the stock email for the rest of my email clients. I am NOT running any Task Control programs as I figured it was best to let the OS handle those problems. I have Wi-Fi On, BlueTooth and GPS turned Off/.
For giggles, I reset my phone to Factory Status (Getting used to this, lol.. One way to learn your phone is by repetition, lol) and when I do I have about 58% Free RAM, but it moves up and down in pretty big jumps.......
I don't want to get in the habit of the BB, wherein you had to pull the battery everyother day or so it seemed due to memory leaks, which is what this sounds like as well..
Since previous releases of android SDK (I think since version 0.9), I have a warning when I run a aplication from Eclipse.
"Warning once: This application, or a library it uses, is using NSQuickDrawView, which has been deprecated. Apps should cease use of QuickDraw and move to Quartz."

I called and spoke with two different CSR on the phone today as well as one the guys at our local Verizon corporate store. I am still undecided about whether to pre-order tomorrow to save myself from dealing with the mail-in rebate or buying it in store on 4/29. The first CSR I spoke with told me I should receive the phone by FedEx on 4/29. I called later to ask another question about my ne2 and changing plans. I asked the second CSR the same "when will I get it if I pre-order" question and she says I will get it on Friday 4/30. I told her that every thing I have heard and read says it will be there by Thursday 4/29. She told me it was going to be shipped using FedEx 2-day service. I called my local store in Indiana to see if they have ever sold out of any phones when they debut. He says that most of the excitement over the Incredible is by "techies" like me and he expects plenty in stock. I had him check to see when I would get it if I pre-ordered online. He says that it would be shipped 2-day FedEx and I would receive it on Friday 4/30. I told him I would be in on 4/29 to get my phone because I do not want to take a chance on waiting an extra day. This is just a FYI for those expecting it on Thursday because it may take an extra day to get to you.

Silly me, I didn't read the notes other than to see that Astrid 3 was "all new". My tasks vaporized! The I tried to "restore" and it said I had to buy an add-on pack to do that. No indication of whether the restore in V3 is compatible with saved tasklists from V2. The experience left me cold. I uninstalled Astrid 3 and reverted to V2 via the link http://bit.ly/oldastrid. Then I restored from the saved list on my SD card from the scheduled backup that Astrid did last night. I still lost some tasks I entered today.

Got the storage space warning so I offloaded all the pics to my laptop but phone still showing storage space warning and internal memory shows 24.00KB No apps have been installed yet, stock Sprint EVO phone. I'm getting 3 email accounts to the phone and the memory shows email is at 336 megs. Is that what is swamping the memory on this phone? I turned off the emails but the phone won't let me delete all the emails now, I get an error or email has stopped and have to force close the app.

View 1 Replies View RelatedDo not try to SBF back to 2.1 if you did the OTA 2.2 update. It will brick your phone completely. New bootloader version is 30.03. I tried to SBF back to 2.1 after doing to OTA 2.2 update and you cant. RSD finishes the SBF, but when the phone is suppose to reboot it wont. Instead you get an error "Err:A5,70,70,00,1F" on the bootloader. Won't let you boot to recovery or nothing. Just boots to bootloader. So Im bricked till theres a fix..

I have tried both soft and hard resets, leaving it switched off for large periods of time but all to no avail. I know I should have signal since my old phone is on the same network (vodafone) and gets signal absolutely fine.
