I have the htc desire and for the past couple of days it hasn't had any signal, I just get the limited service message, this is regardless of where I am (I live in a large city as well!) I have tried both soft and hard resets, leaving it switched off for large periods of time but all to no avail. I know I should have signal since my old phone is on the same network (vodafone) and gets signal absolutely fine.

Let's start from first: I bought a t-mobile desire from someone. when I got it, it was rooted and an official htc middle east rom flashed on it (...and unrooted).Both seller and me have a local sim card (Not t-mobile) but it worked for him and not for me.It displays a "Limited Service", "Emergency Calls Only" message. when I search for operators it list my operator but when I choose that android can't register on it.
1. I rooted it again and flashed LeeDroid rom on it but no success
2. Seller did a hard reset before giving it to me (I guess it generated the problem)
3. Sim card is correct
4. Seller is not scam!
rooted my desire this morning and Facebook for htc desire came up with this message downloaded a diff rom same message so downloaded the o2 rom again and reinstalled that still same god damn message. created a new facebook account still GOD DAMN SAME MESSAGE!

Warning - The service is currently unavailable. Do you want to try again?
Is this some kind of fault or is the service really unavailable at the moment?
My wifi hotspot only works the first time i used it and after trying to connect it again after a few days, my laptop is unable to access the internet when using wifi hotspot.
After trying to connect, laptop says connection unsuccessful and has only limited internet access- which means i can't access my internet at all T.T
I have a SIM free Desire and I am on Orange. When I include sign in a text, I get a message on the screen saying "Compatibility Warning - your sms include some special character (RED BACKGROUND), if you send it from t-mobile to other carriers, it will cause the message can't go through". Can anyone tell me how I can include sign in a text without this message appearing every time.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been using my HTC Desire without a problem but for the last couple of weeks I have been getting unable to send notifications when sending texts. This can be almost instantly after hitting the send button. I'm on three. My friend has the same handset and he is on oange and is getting the same thing so is this a handset thing or are we both doing something wrong. If you leave the desire to do it's stuff it will send it. On other occasions it goes no problem.

Quite often when I send text/sms messages I get the Unable To Send error warning in the top left of the main screen. At first I was hitting the Resend option all the time but it keeps coming back and I noticed that if I check my text messages All Messages box then the message has actually been sent, yet the Unable to Send message persists until I use the Clear option. Has anyone else noticed the same thing?

It seems that no matter what I do, I cannot get more than 36 events per second (the rest is sent in history data which is useless in my case). This happens on both the emulator and the Motorola Milestone.Is this a hardcoded limit or am I doing something wrong? I'm implementing onTouchEvent on the activity and recording how many events are received per second and then send that info through Log.v to Eclipse. I also tried implementing onTouchEvent on the view instead of the activity and the results are the same.

A few weeks ago, I ran a benchmark test that seemed to validate this claim.I have run more tests, and I am no longer confident in my earlier conclusion. I have "limited connectivity". I didn't have this issue with my last Evo. Anyone else had this problem with a new Evo before?

I open the Message client, and try to enter the Service Center number "+447958879879" as provided by T-mobile.When I try to send a text message, I receive the following message."Unable to send the message after multiple attempts". If I then check the Service Center section,I now find the field blank.Could someone please help, am I missing something very simple. What do I need to change?

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy internal storage is currently 337 MB. I was planning on buying a bigger SD card, either 16GB or 32GB. I'm very new to everything with Androids and have never been big with computers. I read that if I want a lot of applications and everything that I would have to root the phone because the internal storage is so limited and then move everything to the SD card. I tried rooting the phone, it didn't work (I didn't mess up anything with the phone, probably just missed a step), but considering I still know so little about all this I decided it would be better to wait with rooting. Will I be fine with not rooting my phone and picking up a bigger SD card or will my phone run very slow once I start installing a lot of stuff?

Google Maps shows everything you would expect from Google Maps except street view. However map view does not. It never shows streets and details, just a big blotch of gray. Satellite view works, but not with the best resolution the Maps application offers.Can anyone point me to documentation of this matter?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm new to Android platform but not new to software development. We want (in our company) to create Android software to compliment our truck management software. Basically, it will do couple very specific tasks.
a. Send GPS updates to server.
b. Receive trip information.
c. Send pickup/delivery confirmation to server.
After evaluating i.e. platform and Windows phone 7 platform we came to conclusion that only Android has multitasking that works for us. So, Android it is but I have some specific questions.
1. Data plan we want to use will be very limited. Probably 5M/mo and no voice/text. I figured 5x1024x1024 = 5242280 bytes will give me 1k per transmission every 15 minutes (3000 transmissions per mo). It will leave 2M for other stuff that will happens every couple of days. Does my math look OK or there is lot of "waste" traffic? Our server going to be XML SOAP and messages sent will be just Lon/Lat in XML package. 1K will be OK? If I just calculate bytes it will be even less but I wonder if there is "minimum" packet size, etc. Any insight on this data limitation appreciated.
2. Because of #1 we need to "lock" device somehow so there is no other software that uses network. Possible? If so, what do I need to look for? I found already created app - firewall and it says phone has to be rooted for that.
3. Receiving trip information. What's the best way to accomplish that given my situation? Should I run some kind of listener? Will my phone have IP address or something? Or should I get small text plan and use that for this specific functionality? Can I receive text message in my own application?
So, as you see we trying to shrink $80/mo service to $15/mo service that will do big savings to our company but not sure if it's all possible with constraints we have. Also, we may just give discounts to drivers who have Android phone and will install our app but we don't count on that.
I can only compare to an Ipod Touch, so hopefully you guys can explain the storage and apps thing to me. Right now I own an Ipod Touch 64GB. I have 1.5 GB of apps installed on it. Based on research for the EVO it looks like max capacity is going to be 32 GB. Not a problem there, but when it comes to apps are they stored on the phone itself? (Installed RAM is only 1 GB) or are apps stored on your memory card? Are these cards swappable or are you limited to whats space is available on it? Hope this is not a bad comparison.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've looked all over this forum and others and haven't found anyone with this issue. Got my Droid Eris last week and love it so far. When I use Wi-Fi it finds my router and connects with no problems. I open browser and can go to Google.com, do searches from there, etc. and everything works fine and pages load quickly as long as I stay on Google.com. But when I try any other site they either never load ("web page not available") or they take several minutes to load.
Browser works fine on all sites when on 3G. I tried Wi-Fi with 3G turned-on and turned-off, but same results. Tried clearing browser cache, deleted cookies, etc.
I'm stumped...I can't think of anything that would prevent non-Google sites from working only when I'm using Wi-Fi.
Are Android phones limited to 160 characters on sms? If so why?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have noticed that when using my phone to reply to a long string of text on forums (or at least some of them) I seem to hit a roadblock at some point. By that I mean, if I wanted to reply to a message like I am typing this right now, if I want to scroll down to the bottom I am unable to if the length of the text reaches a certain point. Or in another situation, I could be typing my reply, but once I write enough to reach that limit I am unable to type any further. This only applies when wanting to reply at the bottom of the string of text. There are ways to work around the issue, but in certain cases they aren't always preferred.

1) Grouping: I have almost 500 contacts and i want to group contacts into many several categories but when i create a group and i want to add some contacts there i have to type the name of the person i want to add and then add him manually one by one. How on earth can i remember each and every contact i want to add to a group. The 2nd option is click on each contact and edit/categorize to a group.
2) Call History: My old samsung bada phone had a facility where i can see all calls and sms in my call log. And if i click any of the contact in the call log i can see when and what time that particular contact has called or smsed me. Why not this be done in my android phone.
I thought android was customizable.
When I search a term in the marketplace, it shows the categories the term appears in. Under apps, the term says there are over 5000 results.
Great. Well I scroll down twice and the list stops. There is no option for 'more' listings.... What gives?
I am wondering if it is possible to limit the size of the dalvik-cache. I am looking for an alternative to putting it on the sdcard. Maybe I could create a partition on the internal storage for the cache?
