HTC EVO 4G :: Unrevoked Method Of Rooting Allow To Use Setcpu On Phone?

Does the unrevoked method of rooting allow you to use Setcpu on the EVO?
In the thread that has a guide to rooting with unrevoked 3 it states that you should have a 2gig available on the sd card, but also states if you have less than 4 gigs available you must format. Is it ok then to format the card if its only 2gigs to being with and root it that way? Sorry sounds confusing, I'm just wondering if 2gigs is enough.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have been looking on how to do this, I used the one click unrevoked method and am just wondering how to undo it if i want to? I have seen many diff thing but not a deff answer to this.
View 49 Replies View RelatedTo those of you who are wondering. This is NOT what you're looking for. http://unrevoked.com /m/unrevoked.apk Do NOT use it on your HTC Incredible. It's for the Evo 4G.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI used with some success the new "one click" method from the guys at unrEVOked and when I start my phone in the bootloader I'm still getting the stock one. I thought it was suppose to take me to the clockworksmod. Maybe I'm confused, anyone else had this issue? Am I missing something here?
View 3 Replies View Relatedi have just gotten my HTC EVO 4G 5 gays ago and I AM LOVING IT !! But, as i was searching all over the internet, the word "Rooting" came up a lot. So i figured , "hey ! why not try it?!" I wanna try and use UnrEVOked but I know nothing about Rooting and such.
1) What will rooting do to my phone?
2) Will it void my warranty?
3) Is it only temporary?
4) Will it help me save battery life?
5) What are other features of rooting?
I am trying to root my EVO and getting stuck at a certain point.I am following the instructions/videos found here:[GUIDE] How to root Android 2.2 on the EVO 4G - xda-developers.I have followed the directions successfully up until I am instructed to me to boot with HBOOT USB and then remove the battery to restart, and run reflash.exe.I am stuck running unrevoked (reflash); the phone does not display the console but rather boots normally. The first time running reflash seems to be working normally until it reboots and searches for the phone, at which point hangs. Any attempt to restart the process will hang at Pushing Recovery Image. I have waited patiently over 10 minutes for each. After the phone fully boots it my computer lists in Device Manager now lists my phone under ADB Interface.I am using windows 7. I have USB debugging I have removed HTC sync (still have HTC drivers installed) and installed the Android Bootloader Drivers. I also am running reflash.exe as Admin.
View 12 Replies View Relatedso just rooted using unrevoked3, i did so without a memory card in the phone (forgot i had earlier taken it out) and had a message on the phone about couldnt find sd storage. well anyway unrevoked3 said that rooting was done and i do have the user permissions app in my app drawer. just wondering could there be anything that is not on my phone now because i didnt have sd storage in?
View 23 Replies View RelatedI posted this on the xda-developers forum yesterday. Maybe someone here has some insight too.

I have a desire I wish to root. I have version 2.1 stock and understand that unrevoked 3.14 might be the best option. Thing is I cannot find this version, it always brings up 3.21 which I don't think will work. Is there a better way to go about this? I use a mac.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have followed instructions on the following page on rooting my phone:
How To: Root the HTC Wildfire (Unrevoked Method) | TheUnlockr
At the bottom, There are some steps, Quoting these:
"7. Plug in your phone into your computer via usb cable. 8. It should automatically locate your phone that is plugged in and you can just follow the prompts to continue. 9. Done! You are rooted and have a custom recovery image!"
I have unrEVOked open, And followed all instructions, And it still says "waiting for device", Why?
So I tried the rooting method using unrevoked3 but it came up with
View 12 Replies View RelatedI even tried flashing a custom rom (Fresh) on the last attempt and it just seems like it is giving me the Sprint stock Rom. Shouldn't the custom Rom look different? Once rooted do I still need to use Unrevoked method to grant superuser access for Apps?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am going to be getting my Evo soon and it will most likely come with 2.2 Froyo. Now I am going to root my phone right away and want to use a custom kernel. Cyanogen-6, but some people are having trouble flashing it. Will this be a problem, I have root experience with the Hero and custom ROM's but I never heard anything about NAND unlock on the hero.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI updated to the new Froyo leak and lost root (I assume)
-I cannot reboot Bootstrap
-Root Explorer and Barnacle do not work
-I still have the Superuser app, but it does not seem to be working
If I am correct that I lost root, I would like to try the Droid2 method
I have downloaded the SDK and the Moto drivers. I am in PC Mode with USB debugging enabled
My problem is when I get to this line C:android-sdk-window ools> and try adb devices, it says List of devices attached.
That is it. Nothing seems to be attached. If anyone can figure out what I am doing wrong I would greatly appreciate it. I know I shouldn't be the first to jump on new roms and leaks, but you have to learn sometime right?
I plan on rooting using toasts method soon. really the only thing that is holding me back is i have a decent amount of apps that i dont want to lose, some paid as well. how can i assure that i will be able to get my apps back once i flash the new rom?
View 3 Replies View RelatedRecently I soft bricked my Arc S.It was Rooted and Bootloader unlocked. Running well so I got bored and tried to load a custom rom. Failed! Not worried tried to reflash. Failed!Sent it off to an IT store they were able to get it up and running. On 4.1.b.0.431.BUT now no matter what rooting tool or method I try I can't root it. Bootloader says unlocked.
Tried Doomlords toolkit And 3 others ways.... nothing...Should I try lock the Bootloader again? Or Reflash the whole phone again?? (which I am no good at hence the whole problem)
i checked everywhere theres no way to root the padfone? i just ordered the padfone 2 but now i am getting a little doubtful if theres no way to root padfone 1 then theres no way to root padfone 2
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had a rooted Incredible using this method before however I had a problem with the on screen keyboard so I got a replacement. The replacement just came yesterday. Now I am rooting the replacement and the Unrevoked 3 program gets stuck at "Waiting for root... (Safe to restart if this doesn't work)"
I have the HBOOT drivers installed and my phone comes up in device manager as "Android Composite ADB Interface"
Did they apply a new update to the phone that prevents rooting? If so how long before I can get around it?
I just rooted my phone using this method. forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=724741
After that I installed this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=675957
After that I did the app2sd method and that's where my issue started.
Basically followed it step by step and now my phone just sits at HTC quietly brilliant and every 30 seconds it goes black and back to the white screen.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI was thinking about rooting with the droid 2 method. After that I'm unclear what is the safest method.
1. Run Titanium backup
2. Koush's bootstrap recovery
3. install rom manager
4. flash a theme (which is the main reason i want root)
Is that my safest, most recoverable (is that a word) method? Or what should i do after root to be the most safe from bricking my phone?
I am using LG Optimus Vu P895 with V10c FW and its rootable with Root with Restore Bin4ry version 17 or 18, but now I got the phone upgraded to V10c over OTA (or KDZ file) and my phone is no more rootable by that method. I tried to run the tool as I did before but it ended very soon and the phone didn't restart as expected, maybe LG fixed the exploit to root this phone. How to root it after upgrading to V10c?
View 2 Replies View RelatedDownload and use a program called Android Central Sideload Wonder Machine. It's a one click solution, works amazingly on the Captivate and requires no hassle. The program claims to work on un-rooted phones (though mine is rooted). My girlfriend's Captivate is not rooted though so I will test this out on her phone as well to confirm it. Check it out though. I've already gone to town with this and it works great.
View 5 Replies View RelatedDoes using unrevoked 3.1 to root a DInc wipe the phone? I know that with old root methods on other droids (e.g., Droid Eris), that rooting required installing a custom ROM at the same time.So does unrevoked wipe the phone and install a custom rooted rom? Or if you run revoked 3.1, are you simply left with a rooted phone, that's still running the stock Android Sense 2.1?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just bought SetCPU last night, and ever since installing it, I've had issues with sending and recieving txt messages, for example, I'll have 3-4 bars of 3G and the txt will either not send out, or if someone sends me a txt, I'll get about 3 all at once from them. Maybe its just how I have setcpu setup, I let the app decide best speed for my phone 900max 250 min, and I set it on interactive at first, then changed it to performance to see if that made a difference with txts.
