HTC EVO 4G :: Does New Rooting Method Allow NAND Unlock

Aug 26, 2010

I am going to be getting my Evo soon and it will most likely come with 2.2 Froyo. Now I am going to root my phone right away and want to use a custom kernel. Cyanogen-6, but some people are having trouble flashing it. Will this be a problem, I have root experience with the Hero and custom ROM's but I never heard anything about NAND unlock on the hero.

HTC EVO 4G :: Root 1.47 ROM Without Nand Unlock?

Aug 10, 2010

I just got my replacement Evo, preloaded with 1.47 (thankfully not Froyo). Is there a way to get to rooted 1.47 and then rooted Froyo without doing nand unlock? It was possible with the 1.32 roms I think, but I can't a root approach for 1.47 that does not rely on loading the eng-PC36IMG that overwrites the PRI. If it's not possible, I'll dive in with SimpleRoot, but I wanted to try this experiment.

Motorola Droid X :: Rooting DX With D2 Method?

Sep 12, 2010

I updated to the new Froyo leak and lost root (I assume)

-I cannot reboot Bootstrap

-Root Explorer and Barnacle do not work

-I still have the Superuser app, but it does not seem to be working

If I am correct that I lost root, I would like to try the Droid2 method

I have downloaded the SDK and the Moto drivers. I am in PC Mode with USB debugging enabled

My problem is when I get to this line C:android-sdk-window ools> and try adb devices, it says List of devices attached.

That is it. Nothing seems to be attached. If anyone can figure out what I am doing wrong I would greatly appreciate it. I know I shouldn't be the first to jump on new roms and leaks, but you have to learn sometime right?

Motorola Droid X :: Rooting With Method - Run Titanium Backup

Sep 29, 2010

I was thinking about rooting with the droid 2 method. After that I'm unclear what is the safest method.

1. Run Titanium backup
2. Koush's bootstrap recovery
3. install rom manager
4. flash a theme (which is the main reason i want root)

Is that my safest, most recoverable (is that a word) method? Or what should i do after root to be the most safe from bricking my phone?

I have an o2 phone locked and branded. i want to unlock and unbrand (so i can use another sim and no more o2 on start up). however does this mean i have to root? I dont really understand why one wants to root, (rooting is different from unbranding right? but once u root u will unbrand, correct?) but can u unbrand without rooting? also once u unbrand, what happens to the market? read somewhere after unbranding they could not access very much? does it matter which conoutry you are in? i will be using the desire in asia. still cannot understand roms, cusotm roms, htc roms, soo confused

Wonder if any experts here can help me. I have just received a new HTC Hero (T Mobile UK G2 Touch). Unfortunately it appears to be running a somewhat crippled version of the languages. HTC EVO 4G :: Error With Root / NAND And Other?

Jul 21, 2010

System Specs:
Windows 7 32-Bit
Phone Specs:
Firmware Version - 2.1-update1
Baeband Version - 2.05.00.06.10
Build Number - 1.47.651.1 CL195459 release-keys
Software Number - 1.47.651.1
So I think I rooted fine. I used this link and it seemed to go great. Said done, etc.How To: Root the HTC Evo 4G (Unrevoked Method) | TheUnlockr Now, for the NAND, I'm using this link: How To: Unlock NAND on the HTC Evo 4G | TheUnlockr This is where my issues start to occur. Step 10 my phone detects the PC36IMG file and does it's thing but then says it failed because the main version is older?? So I reboot the phone and try to do the rest of the steps and on step 13 I get an error after hitting enter on the recovery.img line (last line in the shell) stating that there is no more space (I'm assuming on my SD card? I have a 32GB card). Can someone help me? My phone seems to be working fine even after these errors, but obviously I can't get rid of NAND (what I need to do in order to remove the sprint apps?).
