View 4 Replies View RelatedOk, so I've been hearing alot about these custom roms and was wondring what it was. What can you do with a custom rom? And how do you create one? View 13 Replies View RelatedSo I read up on how to root my phone and everything but have been running into problem after problem. Finally I figured out that the main problem was that I need to revert to the stock software (1.5). So I ran the HTC ROM Update Utility but for the past two times I got ERROR {140}: BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Yes, I've searched but came up with nothing.

Are the any disadvantages to using unrevoked to root and then their new recovery program, versus the more extensive process, like using the new "simple root" app that roots/nand/rom
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just can't get it.Yes, I'm new to this stuff but I've read every thread and watch hrs of youtube (which may have screwed me up more).I got my new Evo last week, I'm coming off of a jailbroken Iphone (blackrain).I'm looking for wireless tether, ROM flashing is ok but I'm not going to go crazy.I'm running 2.1 (I never upgraded, because I'd thought it be easier to root). It seems I get to the end of both rooting programs and the deal get's done.Unrevoked says- The app is loaded on my phone, however is say's something crazy when I hit start in the app I wiped the system, so I can't remember what it says, but it's like fhugh something.
Simple Root-I'm able to go through all the steps of simple root, when I hit wireless tether, it tells me.NOT ROOT? and my kernals aren't right. Also, simple root is a two click program now vs the majority of vidoes that are 3/4 clicks. This can't be that hard to do.
What exactly is this for? Like, if its only good until you boot then what is it good for? I came from the moment where when i rooted it i could change the themes and uninstall apps, but what can i do with this root?
View 1 Replies View RelatedLast night I rooted my phone using the unrevoked method and I installed fresh 0.1. I had an issue last night where my phone wouldn't see the SD card Has this issue been resolved with the newer versions of the fresh rom? How do I get this update applied so that I don't have any issues with my phone seeing my sd card? I've only had enough time to get 0.1 installed and I would like to have 0.3 up and running by tonight.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using unrevoked to root my evo and everything goes like it is supposed to untill i get to where it says to browse for the driver software on my computer. I cannot find it anywhere.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI recently rooted my phone and was wondering how to install custom themes and lock screens for my hero. I am new to this as the title implies, so a link/instructions on how to install/create these would be what I'm looking for. I also am looking for solutions that do not need to install a new ROM as I just want to mod the current one that I have since i haven't found one I like. I rooted the 2.27.651.5 official sprint software with the instructions from the xda forum here: [GUIDE] How to Root Sprint 2.1 Release for CDMA Hero - xda-developers.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a 1 click root that works for the Sprint HTC hero? I've tried the one on the Unlockr site, but it fails to create a backup?
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhat are the advantages/disadvantages of each method. Or does it even matter now that Unrevoked is a true root?
View 8 Replies View RelatedDoes the newest version of the Unrevoked 3 enable a full root? I am able to do such things as install the Wifi tether app, which requires root, but I'm unsure if I can flash a new ROM with the Unrevoked root, or if I need to use another root method such as "Toast's".
I know this question has been asked/answered before, but I could not find any information regarding the newest version of the Unrevoked root.
I did unrevoked but i want to get to use the new froyo rom, can i do simple root on top of unrevoked?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI want to be able to flash roms. i want to be able to use wi-fi tether. which should i do? advantages disadvantages to both.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThere have been a few different posts dealing with this concept, but I still haven't found a solid answer..which probably means there isn't one. Anyway, I am about to root and have been reading everything I can find, and there seem to be some people that do not like the unrevoked because it does not "fully" root the phone; or does not nand unlock completely or something. I wont try to explain details because I do not know much, but bottom line is:
View 7 Replies View RelatedI keep getting "failed to flash recovery image" every time I go throug the process on the Beta Test 3.21. Everyone seems to be having success.
I no that I have the bootloader installed and the phone is definetly on "charge only" mode when I try to use the program.
I know for a fact that there is no HTC Synce or anything downloaded to my computer that could hurt it because I am on a brand new computer.
What am I missing..is there something else that I need to download to my computer or phone to make it work?
I tried to use unrevoked last night and got the backup cid is missing error. I havent found any way to fix the error on google exept wait until the next version. does anyone know how to fix it or another way to root my 2.2 EVO that works just as well?
View 2 Replies View RelatedTo my knowledge, there are two different teams working on root for the EVO right? Should their methods accomplish the same thing? or is one rooting method better than the other? I guess I will wait until the unrEVOked team releases theirs...
View 4 Replies View RelatedI downloaded the driver at first I did it wrong so I had to start over. When I restarted the root it goes through the "pushing H-boot" etc and then restarts my phone. the icon for unrevoked (grey box) now says waiting for reboot... well ive been waiting for that reboot for about 10minutes now.
