How do you select a contact(s) when composing a new email in the gmail app? I am able to choose contacts in the regular mail app, but not the gmail app, the gmail app only gives me the option to type in an email address, it does not give me the option to choose contacts.

In the Gmail app on my Incredible, when composing a message, i start by addressing the email in the "To" field. If I want to send an email to "Jonathon Blackburn" i start typing "jonat" and a list of emails comes up like: Jonathon Blackburn <jonblack@ Jonathon Blackburn <jonathon@ But the rest of the contact info is cut off, so I do not know which email I am selecting and whether it is office of home, etc. Is there a way to change the font/setting so that it includes the entire email address and whether it is a work or home address?

Does anyone know how to get this to work so I can compose a new email on my Droid to send to the group?I do not have this Group set up under my contacts, but it is a group created in Gmail.

My business email account is sent up through the regular email program on my phone. This way I can differentiate personal from business email on my home page. On thing I noticed is that I can't send mail to group contacts with Gmail program, but it seems to work okay with the regular email program. Is there a way to use group contacts with the Gmail program?

CONTENT_URI" for Android platforms 2.0 and above.I create a new intent with the action "Intent.ACTION_PICK" for the URI "People.CONTENT_URI" -- from there I send a managedQuery to get a cursor with the contact information I need, which is the contact's name, and contact's phone number for the contact that the user selected.This works well on platforms 1.1 through 1.6. However, on platforms 2.0 through 2.2, this method no longer works for me. 2.2 - can't see the contact's phone number. 2.1-update1 - same as above. 2.0.1 Can't see contact or phone number at all. When the intent is invoked, the user is encountered with "You have no contacts" even though he or she does. 2.0 - Same as above.Should I be doing something different for platforms 2.0 and above? I've searched around but to no avail.

I have linked the facebook profile to my contact. I can choose "facebook" for the contact's photo, but I have no control over which photo is displayed.
Can I:
a) select a specific facebook foto?
b) save a specific facebook foto from the contact's facebook pictures and set the saved photo as the contact's picture?
Is there an "unread" emails option in gmail? If I save an email to read later its really annoying to have to scroll around to find an unread email.HTC email has this option (two envelopes on the bottom) but the gmail app gets my email faster.

I have couple of contacts which have multiple numbers so I added all of those under a single name Now, when I try to message those names, starting from "new message", somehow typing the names in "To" bar does not thrown those names. Instead, it shows some weird number (e.g. 2229 etc) when typing those names Net result, the contacts are not accessible from messaging application. Now I need to go to the contacts to text them.

The Situation or: what I'm looking for:
1. Nexus 7 with Google Contacts app
2. Non-android phone (Nokia N8 etc.) or really any dumb phone paired to Nexus 7 via bluetooth.
3. Select phone number from Contacts on Nexus 7 -> connected phone dials the number
4. Talk on phone.
As I have a very extensive and nicely organized list of contacts in my "People" app (Google Contacts) on the Nexus 7, I would just like to be able to select a number there and have the bluetooth-connected dumb phone place the call, so I just need to pick up the phone and talk, not dial the number manually on the phone.
Right now, when I select a number in the Contacts app on the Nexus 7, Skype - of all things - starts and wants to dial that number apparently. Instead of Skype, I want the number to be sent to the connected bluetooth phone. Surely that HAS to be possible somehow?
Even though this should only require a simple ATD command to be sent out via bluetooth and it's a functionality that every automobile bluetooth setup can do (dial from the steering wheel etc. -> connected phone places the call), I couldn't find one single, small app that does that.
In the PC world, this is sometimes known as CTI (computer telephony integration), basically you dial a number on your Windows PC (e.g. using on-board "dialer.exe" or using Outlook, and your phone places the call). So now I'm basically looking for a simple, one-way TTI (tablet telephone integration).
I did find Tablet Talk, which looks very nice, but this one needs a client software to be installed on the phone, which therefore has to be Android, so it's unusable for my case. I'm pretty much looking for a universal solution here, i.e. Android tablet to any dumb or smart bluetooth-enabled phone (or even another android for that matter), which, given that bluetooth is a universally specified protocol, shouldn't be much of a problem, in my limited understanding.
From my point of view, to problems or "routines" would have to be solved/written in an app that does this:
1.) Get the Google Contacts app ("People") on the android tablet to send numbers via bluetooth or to our "middleware app" (to be named) instead of sending those numbers to the Skype app (which might just be a quirky configuration on my Nexus 7, but it illustrates the use case).
2.) ATD command to phone via bluetooth, sent from the tablet

In the main menu I chose "email" and added my pop servers URL and the next line asks for the password which I entered however it will not let me highlight either the "manual set up" or the "next" icons in a gray bar just below the password box. Tried it several times now. Certainly a Droid should be able to handle pop server mail??

I have entered my account details, I can send emails but I don't get a notification when I receive an email to my Gmail Inbox. I have checked the settings and I have setup a ringtone and selected the option to flag up an icon in the notification bar. However the only way I know I have an email is if I open the app. I have a task manager and Gmail is on the ignore list.
View 5 Replies View RelatedAnywho, I want to go into Gmail, compose a new email, and be able to select contacts (or even have the app provide a look-ahead list based on what I type). This is exactly how the Gmail app for my Blackberry 8830 worked so I don't understand why there seems to be less functionality no an Android phone. In any case, it seems that no matter what, all I can do is manually type in email addresses. Also, I know I can go into Contacts (People) and select a person's email. This brings up a menu option to email using Gmail or my Exchange email account. This in't good enough because all I can do is open a new email to one person this way. What if I want to email 10 people!?

The GMail one works nicely, however, the Mail that comes on the phone doesn't allow you to select multiple messages and delete them..like outlook or the versamail client on a Palm device.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got a Nexus S running 4.0.4 and the emulator running 4.1.2. I'm experiencing the exact same thing on both:
I have two exchange accounts configured in the EMAIL application. When I view the unified inbox and compose a new email, I am unable to select the non-default FROM address (clicking the FROM address does nothing). In order to send an email from the non-default, I have to enter the inbox for that account THEN compose a new email - requires several more clicks than necessary.
I have asked several friends and some say they do have this option - however they are all on carrier customized roms.
Unless I'm losing it, whenever I had a new email notification, pulled down the notification bar, and clicked the email, G mail app opened up the email itself. All of a sudden, when I do the same thing, it opens up the G mail In box and I have to click the email itself to open it. Am I delusional and this is how it's always been?

At the moment I am using the default htc email widget, however when ever I read an email from my gmail account it doesnt update the read status so it still shows as unread.
I would like one that would update the read status and possible the support for unified inbox so I can see new mail from hotmail account and gmail.
