New to X8 and Android - was k850i user. Now that I have my contacts, music, and some ringtones transferred, how do I select a certain ringtone for a specific contact? The k850 supported this, surely the x8 must. Or is this an Android download?

I want to set a ringtone from my sd card to a contact directly, is it possible in Android 1.6 (Sony Ericsson X10)? Any application is their? I tried few applications, in which i can go to the contact (Edit) & select a ringtone & assign it but the problem is iam having around 1000+ songs & all songs were listed thr. So not able to search my ringtone immediately its taking so much time to search manually. If iam seeing the ringtone from my sd card folder & able to select the ringtone & assign it to a contact it would be better. Is it possible in any of ur known applications?

When selecting text on a touch screen, it sucks because your fingers block your view of the selection courser. I am not a huge fan of the magnification bubble that I've seen as it also blocks some of your screen.
I would like to propose a new selection behaviour that behaves like smearing paint on a sheet of paper. To select several words from a paragraph you would start the selection process (This would most likely be from a menu item "select text") and then touch somewhere inside your desired target. Then you would smear the selection highlight to one end and then smear it the other way to expand the highlighted area. You can smear back and forth as many times as you want always expanding the highlight until you lift off the screen. If you select too much, you need to cancel but I don't think this will be a problem often.
This behaviour is very similar to the current selection function except that when you start moving the other way it leaves the highlight at the max position you reached so you can go the other way and select where that max position should be.
With the current method if I don't place one end of my highlight correctly, I have to start over. This usually happens multiple times which is annoying.
Having just purchased my X10 yesterday and starting a new contract with a new number i would like to send my new number to all my phonebook contacts. I cant seem to work out how to add multiple contacts or indeed to "select all" as i have done on previous phones. Any help would be most welcome.

I work a lot with emails but some of my contacts can only use SMS so I have to keep copying info from email to sms, wich with this very high tech wonderful phone that I am having fun with, seems to be somehow impossible? I've done a good bit of searching on this and it seems to work as long as the contact is stored on the phone however the option is NOT there when it's a contact sync'd from Google.

Instead of the normal ringtone I have set up and has been working normally since I started using the phone, I now get a horrible quick-beeping notification tone whenever I receive a call/text. have tried going into Settings>Sound&Display and re-selecting the appropriate ringtones and notifications but this makes no difference. I still get the fast beeping as my alert tone. When I check what tone is selected, my current tones are still set.Has anyone else had this problem and resolved it? View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I noticed that the ringtone volume is really really low and the headset earpiece volume is really low too. Its so low that I am thinking that i may have a faulty unit. The ringtone on max is about half as loud as a iphone and the earpiece volume is about half of any other phone that i have owned.

So I'm used to a blackberry and especially how easy it is to dial out on a blackberry. I just got an x10 and I'm very excited about what I've been able to do so far but dialing out takes 3-5 button presses and some searching for the names of the person I'm looking for.is there an app or other way to get a phone call off to a specific persons number. I'm hoping there may exist some way I can just start typing a name and click "call" like I would on the blackberry.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have just purchased my X10 no more than a day ago and find that when talking to someone the ear piece volume is not very loud. I have set the volume setting to max and its still very faint and hard to hear.
I also find the Ring Tone Volume is not very loud, even after setting it to max. I have confirmed the Firmware is the latest version, just as a process of elimination.
Has anyone else experienced this? Or could be that I have a faulty handset?
