View 15 RepliesHow do you select a contact(s) when composing a new email in the gmail app? I am able to choose contacts in the regular mail app, but not the gmail app, the gmail app only gives me the option to type in an email address, it does not give me the option to choose contacts.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSeems like it should be pretty straightforward. In the main menu I chose "email" and added my pop servers URL and the next line asks for the password which I entered however it will not let me highlight either the "manual set up" or the "next" icons in a gray bar just below the password box. Tried it several times now. Certainly a Droid should be able to handle pop server mail??

View 2 Replies View RelatedAnywho, I want to go into Gmail, compose a new email, and be able to select contacts (or even have the app provide a look-ahead list based on what I type). This is exactly how the Gmail app for my Blackberry 8830 worked so I don't understand why there seems to be less functionality no an Android phone. In any case, it seems that no matter what, all I can do is manually type in email addresses. Also, I know I can go into Contacts (People) and select a person's email. This brings up a menu option to email using Gmail or my Exchange email account. This in't good enough because all I can do is open a new email to one person this way. What if I want to email 10 people!?
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust switching to the Eris Droid phone and like it for the most part...what I don't like is it's email client. The GMail one works nicely, however, the Mail that comes on the phone doesn't allow you to select multiple messages and delete them..like outlook or the versamail client on a Palm device.

View 1 Replies View RelatedNow before I get flood of 'get handcent' and ' get chompsms' responses, I'm letting you all know that I have used both, and I have found both either don't show or don't save pic messages. I'm a promoter so I need to use pic messages, so don't mind the stock messenger since its the only one that works right with pic messaging. The only problem I have with it is that I can't select multiple contact from my list to text at the same time. How is this not a stock feature? If it did that, I would delete the other messenger apps and save very valuable space on my phone.

View 2 Replies View Relatedwhen you select a text, you would think the magnifying glass would mean "search" but instead it pulls up wikipedia, translate and dictionary. where's the search option? currently i'm selecting the text, copying it, then hitting the search button, paste and search. tedious!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI must be an idiot but I cannot figure out how to select text that I have input.Say I type a paragraph and want to copy only part of it (this is still text I'm still inputting) . I long press to get the menu and choose 'select text', I get the cursor with the arrow but when I try anything, the entire paragraph gets selected. This is ONE thing the iPhone did great. Which leads to this question, is there an app that simulates the iPhone text selector (magnifying glass) ?

View 3 Replies View RelatedGoogled this issue and can't seem to find the resolution. I am using the Gmail app which came pre-installed on the phone. I have entered my account details, I can send emails but I don't get a notification when I receive an email to my Gmail Inbox. I have checked the settings and I have setup a ringtone and selected the option to flag up an icon in the notification bar. However the only way I know I have an email is if I open the app. I have a task manager and Gmail is on the ignore list.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've got a Nexus S running 4.0.4 and the emulator running 4.1.2. I'm experiencing the exact same thing on both:
I have two exchange accounts configured in the EMAIL application. When I view the unified inbox and compose a new email, I am unable to select the non-default FROM address (clicking the FROM address does nothing). In order to send an email from the non-default, I have to enter the inbox for that account THEN compose a new email - requires several more clicks than necessary.
I have asked several friends and some say they do have this option - however they are all on carrier customized roms.
Is there no way to select text to copy from the browser?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have an x10 (which runs Donut 1.6) so maybe the newer versions of android have addressed this but....
When selecting text on a touch screen, it sucks because your fingers block your view of the selection courser. I am not a huge fan of the magnification bubble that I've seen as it also blocks some of your screen.
I would like to propose a new selection behaviour that behaves like smearing paint on a sheet of paper. To select several words from a paragraph you would start the selection process (This would most likely be from a menu item "select text") and then touch somewhere inside your desired target. Then you would smear the selection highlight to one end and then smear it the other way to expand the highlighted area. You can smear back and forth as many times as you want always expanding the highlight until you lift off the screen. If you select too much, you need to cancel but I don't think this will be a problem often.
This behaviour is very similar to the current selection function except that when you start moving the other way it leaves the highlight at the max position you reached so you can go the other way and select where that max position should be.
With the current method if I don't place one end of my highlight correctly, I have to start over. This usually happens multiple times which is annoying.
Does anyone knows how to select text or copy it from emails on the X10? I work a lot with emails but some of my contacts can only use SMS so I have to keep copying info from email to sms, wich with this very high tech wonderful phone that I am having fun with, seems to be somehow impossible? Is it me and my bad tech skills or its the phone?
