I was wondering if the Hero is suppose to auto suggest names while composing email in landscape mode for example when i am NOT in landscape mode if I start typing the letter m in the "to" box it will list all my contacts with the letter m but if I flip it to landscape mode it will not auto suggest names. Is this normal I could swear it use to auto suggest in both modes...

First of all I'd like to point out that I have posted this in the HTC Desire section because I'm not sure whether my problem is Android or HTC Sense related.I have linked my contacts to their facebook profiles so I can see thier pictures awesome.Except that whenever I compose a new text message and click on the people icon, I get a list of every single one of my facebook friends, and multiple entries for each - one for email, phone etc.Except obviously I only want to text one of the people in my contacts, but keep slecting someone's email address that they've listed on facebook, or the wrong person who shares the same first name. This is highly frustrating - random people appearing in my message recipients list is something I have never had to deal with before in my 10 years as a mobile phone user.

I am just wondering if the auto-suggest dictionary is user-modifiable. I use compact QWERTY (like SureType on BB). When I type "we", what comes out is "qe" which is the default word it wants to use. Perhaps I used it once and saved it? How can I delete the words I don't want popping up anymore (especially the ones I may have added)?
I searched for this but couldn't find a solution. Is there anyway to get the home screen and subsequent side screens to go into landscape mode? I've seen some other Android Phones/Tablets doing this and would like to be able to do so. Or does anyone know if this will be an option in the 2.1 update? I heard that the Droid used to do this, and then some update messed it up, but then saw it going into landscape mode on the video they posted today of the Droid running 2.1.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI would've been happy as a passive forum user and keeping up with other's posts but my Hero has recently developed a problem, prompting me to sign up and get some advice from you guys who have more experience.
Basically in the last couple of days my soft keyboard has randomly decided to change how it displays and works! 3 main problems:
- sometimes soft keyboard does not go into landscape mode when phone is orientated (seen suggestions on here of calibrating keyboard and installing bubble and running the bubble clibration: tried both of these but has not solved problem).
- when phone does decide to let me in landscape mode no text is displayed as you type....only when you switch back to portrait do you see what you have typed
- when in text message mode the predictive text box has moved and is now being overlayed on the text message body, so basically i cannot see what i am typing! (the predictive text box used to be displayed above the text message body). This problem is the most annoying out of the two!
When typing a text message in landscape mode, is there any way to send the text by hitting the enter button? I know on the Moment I was able to hit the enter button and it sent the text. With the Hero I have to hit the actual keyboard button to get back to the thread and hit send...

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I go to portrait to landscape it will stay on portrait then after I mean like 20 mins or so when I go to use it, it will go to landscape and portrait. Then after another while it will stay on portrait and not go to landscape. I've tried everything and tried to find a solution for this but don't seem to find one. I just got the phone on saturday and been playing with for awhile to get the feel of it.

View 2 Replies View Relatedthere are those of us, who due to whatever reason (helmet cams, preference for posture, etc) want to record videos in portrait mode.
What happens (on my sgs2) is that the video records just fine in whatever resolution I pick... but it records it 90 degrees rotated to the right.
The solution that is usually offered is that "you can rotate it after!" yes... but then you have to CROP part of the image and lower the resolution. 1920 x 1080 recordings end up having to be cropped so that half of the view is cut out , or even more if you are maintaining a real aspect ratio.
The questions about "why not just hold it sideways", are just as pointless as the statement by steve jobs telling iphone4 users that they were holding their phones wrong.
is this something that can be remedied ? or has google decided that people should only record videos when their phones are in landscape mode?
i understand that we cant see landscape resolution in portrait mode; but can't we just have a viewport into the camera, but record in properly oriented landscape mode? so that playback on a computer will show the full resolution, even though we will only see part of it on the phone..
dialer in kitkat is always in landscape mode when call is ongoing....how can we set it in portrait mode
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am struggling to add a contact to a new text message, b4 2.1 I just use to start typing a contacts name into the contact box and it would automatically find the contact, now I have to tap the button next to contact and it lists everyone about 15 times each, which means it takes forever to load them up! Has anyone else had this problem? any ideas how I can sort it? I only have Google contacts marked on my contacts menu!

Auto-rotation for keyboard when answering a text message received in sleep mode does not work. If I actively send a text when phone is already awake, keyboard rotates with no problem but when I go to reply to a text that I received while phone is in sleep mode, the keyboard does not rotate. Is this the norm?I am also experiencing a delay when the I wake the phone. After unlocking the phone, I used to go straight to my home page, now I get a "loading" message which takes several seconds. Is this due to the number of apps I have loaded? Is it possibly due to number of photo frames I have on my home screen or the complexity of the wallpaper?

When I use the default email client from captivate, even when I set the checking period as every 10mins, I won't get new emails unless I open the app and manually refresh, well, except the one of gmail. This happens on my yahoo email, hotmail and my school email, which all worked fine on my old iphone. People have talked about yahoo mails won't be accessible through wifi from Android, which happens on mine too. But even when I was at 3G, the email client won't auto check it either. I have tried K9 email client, it doesn't work either. The only thing I find work is the MailDriod, but the function of this app is very limited, it won't even open attachments by default. Does anyone else here have the same problem, or maybe an idea to fix the default email client?Also, I find when I use the ear set make calls, when I try to click the button on the ear set, it won't hang up the call as my iphone would. Is this a bug or just something Andriod can't do? The button on the ear set seems quite useless with Captivate, it can only control to play or pause by single click when play music, won't do song change when doule click it.

(see the other one here Is it possible to reconfigure the keyboard?) Otherwise I'm loving my new phone. I got the auto-adjust option for the Display turned on but for some reason the screen won't switch to the landscape mode as long as I don't pull out the physical keyboard. That is only the case for the homescreens and the main app menu. Otherwise it works fine. For example, if I open the settings I get to look at them in landscape mode with the keyboard in our out.
