HTC EVO 4G :: Random Stuff / Applications Ending / Screen Changing / Lock Ups

Jun 10, 2010

So far, I love the Evo, but I am having three problems with it. And they are getting annoying. First off, some applications will randomly terminate. It started out being regular downloaded applications that would just end. Whatever, it was bearable albeit annoying. But now, sometimes important applications like "Touch Screen" (I don't think that's the exact name) are starting to terminate randomly. That made it so that I couldn't text (rebooting the phone restarted the application).Two, I seem to manage to accidentally press the screen in a random place just about once per minute when I'm holding the phone. It's getting to the point where I feel like it's starting to push random buttons when I just press the sides of the phone. I don't know, it's tough to describe. Also, there seems to be some other shortcut screen that pops up every so often. It's a small box in the middle of the screen that shows my six most recently used apps. I have no idea why it pops up, or how, but I would actually like to use it if I could figure out how to do it.

Three,lastly, it seems to lock up a lot. It just freezes, just like a computer would. It's probably done this about ten times now.So is anyone else having any problems like this? It's starting to get very annoying. Big blemishes for such an amazing phone... it makes me sad to think this has so many interfering problems.

LG Ally :: Changing Lock Screen Clock Font

Nov 7, 2010

Thought some others might be interested in doing this if they haven't already. First off, you need root access to do this, and I am not responsible for any damage you may do to your device.

1. Download any font to your SD card. Make sure it is a TrueType font (most are) but double check anyway. Check out dafont.com for a huge selection of fonts.
2. Rename this font to Clockopia. Make sure the "C" is capitalized.
3. Now, open up Root Explorer (or any other file manager with root access) and navigate to system/fonts/.
4. Long click on Clockopia.ttf and copy it.
5. Paste it on your SD Card somewhere and rename it to something like Clockopia-Original. This way you always have a backup.
6. Now, long-click and copy your new downloaded Clockopia. Don't paste it anywhere yet.
7. Navigate back to system/fonts/ and press the "Mount R/W" button.
8. Long click on Clockopia.ttf and press "Delete"
9. Paste the new Clockopia in its place.
10. On the new Clockopia.ttf, long click and press "permissions". Check all the boxes under "Read" and the user box under "Write".

Android :: Screen Lock Applications

Aug 21, 2010

With my Motorola Quench/Cliq XT the standard lock screen is a bit bland and requires the menu button to be pushed to unlock and I prefer a slide to unlock like many other phones has. However the problem is when I install advanced lock or lock 2.0 or some other locking app, it causes my camera button to wake the phone which gets pushed often while inside the holster case, the camera button doesn't wake the phone on stock. Does anyone know if there's a setting to disable the camera button function for such things?

Android :: Lock Screen Applications Disablers/changers ?

Jun 7, 2010

I've recently tried several lock-screen disablers/changers:

* mylockforandroid
* SmartLock
* No lock
* Executive Asisstant
* Lock 2.0

And a few others. It was my impression that something is inherently broken with all of them: Lock screens would sometimes work as advertised, but sometimes they would revert to original.

For example, right now I am using Tasker to disable the lock screen, and while it works, mostly, now and then it keeps reverting to original lock screen. Now I am kinda suspicious if one of the original applications I installed failed to uninstall properly.

Anyone had similar experience with lock replacement apps? Is there a way for me to see who changes the lock screen? Or at least inspect the scheduled tasks? I'd rather not do a complete hard reset of the device.

Samsung Galaxy S :: No Lag While Opening Applications And Stuff

Nov 22, 2010

I've been using JPA/JPP/JP4 with voodoo lagfix 5 pre6 for a few days now, and it's been working great... except for one thing. There is no lag while opening applications and stuff, but there is some stuttering while scrolling left/right on home screen, or up/down in menu... it's hardly noticeable, but still annoys me. Quadrant is giving me the same results as when i first flashed voodoo. Noticed one thing also, when i scroll down my notification bar it just doesn't drop as smooth as it was before, but just hangs at some point and then continues. I really can notice even a slightest change in performance, and i read that using voodoo wont cause any performance degradation.
Should i reflash my stock kernel and flash voodoo snapshot?

Motorola Droid :: Pattern Lock Widget - Random Swipe

Jan 12, 2010

I downloaded a pattern lock widget and I wasn't sure if I really wanted to use it so I opened the widget and read the first screen or two to see what it was all about but I never set up a pattern on it - I decided that I didn't want the program. So I set my phone aside for a minute and the screen locked but when I hit the power button to turn the screen back on, the pattern lock screen was there, not the "slide to unlock" screen.

So I just ran my fingers in a random pattern (not even connecting dots - just a random swipe) and it let me right in, Okay, fine. Then I went and uninstalled the app and tried locking the screen to make sure it was gone. Sure enough, the pattern lock screen was there when I tried to unlock it. Again, I ran my fingers in a random swipe and it let me in. I tried pulling the battery and that didn't get rid of it.

So at this point, I seem to be stuck with a pattern lock screen to unlock my phone that is not set to any specific pattern...And I don't even have the app installed anymore! (It's not listed in the list of installed apps.) How do I get rid of it? I just want to go back to the stock "slide to unlock" screen.

Help! Thanks!

Android :: Drawing 2D Stuff On Screen In OpenGL Over 3D Scene

Jun 27, 2010

Can somebody take me step-by-step how to draw 2D stuff over a 3D scene (such as controls, etc.). What I've been doing so far has not been working (it only draws the 3D scene), which is (in every frame): draw the 3D scene as normal, projection matrix mode, load identity, call GLU.gluOrtho2D(gl, 0, myScreenWidthInPixels, 0, myScreenHeightInPixels), switch the array pointers (vertices and texture coords) to the ones for my 2D stuff, then drawElements with an appropriate index list. (then switch the array pointers back so the 3D stuff works again).I get nothing added to the screen (just the 3D stuff).Do I need to be doing something else for it to draw? Can somebody take me step-by-step?

Android :: Changing Default Location Of Applications

May 29, 2010

I recently downloaded Panda Home and the iPad theme.I am happy with the design! Part of why I wanted to change the default was to have more Home screens so I could scroll horizontally to view my apps (like the iPhone; I am not trying to be like the iPhone.I just do appreciate certain design factors!).Is there a way to change the default location of the apps to the various Home pages? Or do I have to manually shift each one? For some reason, I find the vertical tray not as helpful or easy to access, although now that I can jump to apps by letter, that does make it better.
