I have a samsung vibrant. Every time i plug it in its charger, the lock screen will not lock amd if m doing something, the sensitivity of the screen will be thrown of. It doesn't do that if i plug,it,in a computer usb, it doesn't,do that and charges normally. Is that a wide spread issue.

I am looking for a free app to change my lock screen. I looked at lockbot and it just wasn't what I was looking for. At least the free version wasn't. I am not ready to pay for a app yet. Still new to android. I like my homepage. I use fancywidgets and like the clock and weather and would like that on my lock screen so all I have to do is hit the power button and see the huge clock. I also don't want to have to swipe so far to unlock the screen. Can someone point me in the direction of a app to change my lock screen around? a free app for now.

One thing I found annoying was having to press the power/unlock button and then swiping the screen to unlock the phone every time, is there anything in the market or some setting to avoid pressing the button and just swiping the screen or possibly using the touch buttons on the front of the phone then swiping?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had the weird issue of my screen staying on after texts, missed calls, etc.to the point that it would continue to drain the battery if I let it.The only way to remedy this was seemingly to activate the puzzle lock piece.On a missed text, call, etc., the screen would turn on to notify me with a visible puzzle lock screen, but then shut off after literally 1 second.Now I feel like I'm in a race against my own phone to detect a text and rip it out of my pocket to swipe the screen before it goes black and I have to hit the sleep/power button to turn it back on and swipe it that way.It's stupid.Yes, I want the screen to not be on all day, but damn.1 second? Is there any happy medium?

1. Is there a way to disable the automatic screen locking and allow me to just press the on/off switch to lock? There are many cases where I don't want the screen to lock automatically - eg. listening to music. But then when I put the phone in my pocket, case, whatever, I'd like to press a button to lock it.
Is there a way to have separate delays for the screen off and phone lock features? I like having the screen turn off quickly (since I believe power on/off for OLED is negligible) but it is annoying to have to constantly unlock the phone if I don't hit the power button within a second or so of the screen turning off.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am plan B and AVG security installed, both don't always work, I have pattern lock on the phone but even in pattern lock mode when i press and hold power button the phone gives me option to shutdown.
If someone steals my phone they will be able to shut it off without unlocking it since holding down power button still works. So is there a way to lock the power button from shutting off phone when the phone is in pattern unlock mode?

Ive had my Vibrant for about a week and a half and my power button seems like like it wore out like if i had it for about a year or something. When I first got the phone it was all good up until a couple days ago when I noticed it. So should I call Tmo customer service to get a replacement or wait it out till it get worse.

The phone completely froze, so I went to pull the battery and the phone still stayted on, but frozen of course. I had it plugged in to a wall charger, so I don't know if it was still getting enough power to keep the screen lit.

What I mean is that I need a phone lock for security reasons - however it is a pain to use it every time I turn the screen on. Is there a way to have it work only when you turn the phone on? Right now if yu don't have a phone/screen lock security set if someone steals your phone they take out the sim card and use the phone normally ... if you do have it, then you must use the password every time you want to use the phone (I hate it). I have a thread running which gets the power-save message, removes callbacks for all other threads, puts the phone into airplane mode, and waits a specified number of minutes before waking the phone back up.
When the phone is plugged into my laptop (USB debugging enabled, etc) then this functionality is fine. The phone goes into airplane mode, the screen locks, and then after a specific number of minutes the app "wakes up" and continues as normal.
When the phone is plugged into a car charger, the phone phone goes into airplane mode, but the thread never wakes up the phone. This problem only occurs when the screen is also set to timeout...when I set the screen to "never timeout" and have the phone plugged into a car charger, the app wakes up just fine.
It appears that some combination of power source and the screen timing out kills my power-save thread at a system level. I know this post is very specific to my application, but has anyone encountered a problem similar to this before?
We recently purchased the Moment for my daughter, she has had the phone for 2 days. It seems she does not remember the lock pattern and we have not signed up yet for a gmail account. We have tried holding the left and center button then holding the right after a battery pull but when the progress bar comes up(grey) it goes a little over halfway then stops, it never finishes. I have done a search and came up with nothing else. She has 2.1 if that helps.

View 6 Replies View RelatedNoticed today that when the phone is unlocked with the power/unlock button, that the screen starts off at a significantly lower brightness, but the light sensor seems to then kick in and the correct brightness is then displayed after. This happens for only a fraction of a second, but is quite jerky and immediate.Is this normal, or should the screen brightness remain one constant level from unlock? Of course, changing when it should based on lighting conditions.The same also happens when the screen is about to sleep. Once the lock button is pushed, the screen brightness almost notches down in 2 steps. First at half the brightness, or so, and then off completely. Again, not necessarily smooth, but quite jarring.Again, is this normal of other Captivates?

View 2 Replies View RelatedAnyone have this problem where when they are on a call the screen locks and you can't hang up the call until you unlock the screen or the other end hangs up? Is there a setting to not lock the screen when on a call. This is driving me nuts to always have to unlock the screen just to get to hangup the phone. From what I can tell I think it happens only when I make the call. But if a call comes in when the screen is locked it allows me to hang up after the call. I check most of the settings and i don't see any options for that...
