Android :: Screen Lock Applications
Aug 21, 2010With my Motorola Quench/Cliq XT the standard lock screen is a bit bland and requires the menu button to be pushed to unlock and I prefer a slide to unlock like many other phones has. However the problem is when I install advanced lock or lock 2.0 or some other locking app, it causes my camera button to wake the phone which gets pushed often while inside the holster case, the camera button doesn't wake the phone on stock. Does anyone know if there's a setting to disable the camera button function for such things?

Jun 7, 2010I've recently tried several lock-screen disablers/changers:
* mylockforandroid
* SmartLock
* No lock
* Executive Asisstant
* Lock 2.0
And a few others. It was my impression that something is inherently broken with all of them: Lock screens would sometimes work as advertised, but sometimes they would revert to original.
For example, right now I am using Tasker to disable the lock screen, and while it works, mostly, now and then it keeps reverting to original lock screen. Now I am kinda suspicious if one of the original applications I installed failed to uninstall properly.
Anyone had similar experience with lock replacement apps? Is there a way for me to see who changes the lock screen? Or at least inspect the scheduled tasks? I'd rather not do a complete hard reset of the device.

Jun 10, 2010So far, I love the Evo, but I am having three problems with it. And they are getting annoying. First off, some applications will randomly terminate. It started out being regular downloaded applications that would just end. Whatever, it was bearable albeit annoying. But now, sometimes important applications like "Touch Screen" (I don't think that's the exact name) are starting to terminate randomly. That made it so that I couldn't text (rebooting the phone restarted the application).Two, I seem to manage to accidentally press the screen in a random place just about once per minute when I'm holding the phone. It's getting to the point where I feel like it's starting to push random buttons when I just press the sides of the phone. I don't know, it's tough to describe. Also, there seems to be some other shortcut screen that pops up every so often. It's a small box in the middle of the screen that shows my six most recently used apps. I have no idea why it pops up, or how, but I would actually like to use it if I could figure out how to do it.
Three,lastly, it seems to lock up a lot. It just freezes, just like a computer would. It's probably done this about ten times now.So is anyone else having any problems like this? It's starting to get very annoying. Big blemishes for such an amazing phone... it makes me sad to think this has so many interfering problems.
HTC Desire :: Phone Lock But Not Screen Lock?
Oct 28, 2010Is there a way to have a phone lock on the Desire, in the way it is used on "normal" phones? What I mean is that I need a phone lock for security reasons - however it is a pain to use it every time I turn the screen on. Is there a way to have it work only when you turn the phone on? Right now if yu don't have a phone/screen lock security set if someone steals your phone they take out the sim card and use the phone normally ... if you do have it, then you must use the password every time you want to use the phone (I hate it). I know the best thing is to have a secured access but I was just wandering if it was possible to do seomething different?

It's hard enough to remember and I only wish to enter it when I power on the phone. However it seems I have to enter it every time the phone locks itself. I don't want that, it's a heck of inconvenience. I just want swipe to unlock, not no pin or no pattern and only want to enter the big as password when the phone turns on. I am rooted and on the latest AT&T firmware.

Basically, "Lockdown" requires a password for every app you specify. If there isn't an app, are there any restrictions on development that won't allow applications like this to work? If anyone makes this app (or if there's one out right now), I'd be willing to pay $2, maybe even up to $5, to have something like this.

General :: Phone Boots In Loop And Won't Go To Lock Screen
Mar 28, 2014I've had a Samsung Galaxy Ace for a year and a half and have never had any problems with it. It gets dropped once or twice a week, but besides that it stays pretty safe. Last night I went to restart my phone and when I turned it back on it showed its logos like it always does before bringing me to my lock screen but this time it got stuck at the Samsung logo. It pulsed white and blue for around 30 seconds, then goes through all the logos again and it does this on loop. I've tried removing the battery and trying it, removing the SD and SIM cards and trying it, and no luck.

May 19, 2012When I make a phone call the proximity sensor turns the screen off... great, no accidental screen pressing. However, when I finish the phone call or take the phone away from my ear... I get the lock screen. Why? Why doesn't the screen just go back on to whatever screen was on before the phone call... like the dial pad. To hang up a phone call, I have to unlock the screen first.

Feb 25, 2012 I've tried so many app's over the last couple of days that claim to stop the screen from locking but they have all just bypassed the lock screen... Well, they've tried to anyway. These kind of work arounds don't actually stop my phone from locking in the first place though.
My phone is a W008+ iPhone clone with Android 2.3.3. When it's charging, the screen will time out and switch off; But it doesn't lock. So I can hit any key to bring the screen back on and as it wasn't locked in the first place, I'm taken straight back to where I was.
When not charging, I get the same behaviour for ~2 or 3 seconds... Any longer and it locks forcing me to use the power key and swipe the lock screen along with any other security measures I may have in place.What I'd like is to be able to set the 'lock' timeout in the way that I can set the 'screen' timeout.How far will I have to go to get this functionality?
Is there a setting I've missed? I'm very new to Android so there's lots I don't know yet.
Are there any app's that can really do this? Maybe this would need a root app?

Aug 27, 2012I would like to know which method you need to use to access the unlock screen and replace it (something like SlideUnlock or Widget Locker). I want to design an app which could work on any phone even those without a custom ROM. This app would then be overriding the default Lock Screen.
You probably need to create a service but I can't seem to find a source code or a good tutorial on it.
