HTC EVO 4G : Playing 720p Video On PS3 / HDMI Cable Necessary?
Aug 17, 2010Is it possible to use the USB cable and hook up the Evo to a ps3, download the video, and play the video in 720p? IS the HDMI cable necessary?

HTC EVO 4G :: No Video With HDMI Cable Hooked Up To HDTV
Jun 9, 2010Picked up my HTC EVO on the 4th, and had Sprint order me the HDMI cable. Came last night. Tried to hook it up to my 37" 08' Samsung LCD HDTV, but was only getting AUDIO through to the TV, no VIDEO? I tried all three HDMI outlets on my LCD HDTV but got the same result on each one? Anyone know whats going on here? Anyone else experience this? Anyone have success trying to do what I was trying to do?

Sep 7, 2013I've noticed that none of the new phones coming out have HDMI out on them anymore. I've got a Razr Maxx that I'm looking at replacing and was looking at the new Droid Maxx but I'm concerned about the lack of HDMI out. I'm a boater and have a TV on my boat. I connect my Razr Maxx to my TV with a Micro HDMI to HDMI cable and watch Netflix when I'm on the. I'd hate to give that up but also realize that my Maxx won't last forever.
Any new phones that do have HDMI out?

Nov 5, 2010Does anyone have an issue outputting You Tube full screen over 720p? When watching HD videos over HDMI the video has black bars over all sides. When watching videos over 420p, it fills the screen fine, but the quality isn't the same. I've tried on an Insignia and Samsung.

Jul 2, 2010I searched and cannot find an answer for this: I have not been to a hotel with a TV with an HDMI input, they typically have the red/white/yellow inputs. Is there a cable that is micro HDMI on one end and the three on the other end? I realize it won't be HDMI quality, but i could at least put movies up on the TV from my phone.

Jun 21, 2010I have tried to play several H.264 720p video samples on my EVO, and I get sound but no video. Two examples are the Simpsons trailer and the Fantastic Four trailer at H.264 Demo Clips | H264info.com I get no error, and I have tried the Android media player and several others (which are no doubt using the same API's underneath). Is it expected that video will not play for these files? Obviously the phone's screen would not be able to play them in full detail but I didn't expect that it could not play them at all. What is the point of having 720p resolution over HDMI when the phone can't play videos at that resolution? Or is it that it supports some particular type of H.264 and these videos aren't supported? Or is it actually trying to output directly through HDMI and I see nothing since I don't have it hooked up? UPDATE: I trans coded these sample trailers using Handbrake, and even when I end up with a LARGER file size they do play at 720p. But if I use the high quality preset, they do not work even at a low butyrate at 720p. So it's something about the "advanced options" that determines whether the EVO can play it or not.

Nov 15, 2010I've been a member for a little while, but until now I've been able to just search and find answers to my questions. However, for this issue I can't seem to find anything. I bought a micro HDMI cable, and it works great when I play videos that I have recorded. However, I am not able to play movies and TV shows that I download and play with Rock Player. I've tried a bunch of file formats, and I haven't been able to play any of my own videos without Rock Player. That doesn't really matter to me as it still works fine. But, I would like to be able to plug in the HDMI cable and play a movie on a TV, but when I try, it just plays on the phone screen. So has anyone been able to play their own movies on a TV with the HDMI? Can anyone provide some input here?

Aug 22, 2010Has anyone figured out how to play audio from the HTC EVO (mp3, Pandora, etc) through the USB or HDMI ports?I've looked seemingly everywhere and have not found anyone who has done it.I want to be able to amply drive my Grado SR80i headphones.I believe I could do it with a portable amp like HeadRoom's Total AirHead through the headphone jack, but if I'm not mistaken, the headphone jack is sonically inferior to a line out jack. The problem is, the EVO doesn't have a line out jack.my inquiry regarding harnessing audio from either the USB or HDMI ports.Let's assume the answer to my question above is NO.I'm relatively satisfied with the sound quality I get from the EVO using Sennheiser PX 100 headphones and the tiny FiiO amp. The problem is, I blew the Sennheisers. That's why I bought the Grados.Undoubtedly, the Grados will handle more power. Unfortunately, my tiny FiiO amp won't power the Grados. So my second question then is will a better amp sufficiently power the Grados through the headphone jack?

Nov 29, 2012I have a droid razr maxx and have been trying to play musin on my car stereo pioneer deh-p4200ub using a data cable due to the fact that i don't have the bluetooth adapter for my head unit yet. everytime i connect to stereo i get "error 19" displayed on head unit. I've tried using mass storage and mtp to reconize sd card in phone. i found that if ihave the music stored on internal memory of phone it will work but i have 14gb of music on sd card that wont fit on internal storage. is there any setting i can change for this to be compatable?

No jumping and clear, in sync sound. 720p resolution so the HDMI out should work once the cables are available. h.264 at Level 3.1, 3 reference frames and baseline profile. 1280 x 720 AAC stereo audio at 44100Hz, 128kbps Bit rate does not seem to be all that important as long as the video file is less than 2GB.Muxed to an mp4 container in IMSA standard format and optimized for streaming.

Class 2 = 2MBps write = 16Mbps
So no need to get a class 6 card, they are not worth double the price of a class 2.
