HTC EVO 4G :: Codec For Downloading 720p Video Files
Aug 17, 2010
Are there any apps out there that take the movie file and apply the right codec to it so that the file can be downloaded in 720p? Is this something HTC is planning on updating or did they do it intentionally for some reason? Can I upload files to youtube from my phone in 480p?

I am looking to figure out how to stream a video off my website through the browser. I know it is possible since I've seen some of those mobile porn sites do it, I just cant figure out what format this is in or how to get the video to play.

Encoding a video to the following specs and loading it on the EVO plays with the included video player perfectly. No jumping and clear, in sync sound. 720p resolution so the HDMI out should work once the cables are available. h.264 at Level 3.1, 3 reference frames and baseline profile. 1280 x 720 AAC stereo audio at 44100Hz, 128kbps Bit rate does not seem to be all that important as long as the video file is less than 2GB.Muxed to an mp4 container in IMSA standard format and optimized for streaming.

My highest bitrate for 720p video on my class 6 card is 6Mbps.
Class 2 = 2MBps write = 16Mbps
So no need to get a class 6 card, they are not worth double the price of a class 2.

Tried doing a search but after sifting through many pages, decide to put in a new topic. I was recording a video using the HTC camcorder. Why does the video save as a .3gp format even though I selected mp4 and 720p in settings? Did I do something wrong? Is it really 720p? Did not know that 3gp had the ability to do HD video.

One question arised on my mind when reading reviews of Galaxy S - is there any video player capable of playing HD content (720p) and showing subtitles - either from srt file or directly from MKV?
There are players with subtitles support but I am afraid that to play HD content 1Ghz processor is not enough and that Galaxy's internal player is also taking advance of GPU which others players do not.

So I recorded some videos yesterday, assuming it would record in 720p by default. However when uploading to YouTube, it would only allow up to 480, not giving the option of 720p playback.
Well today, I noticed different resolutions. Is 1280x720 the 720p resolution? If so, then I may have figured it out myself.

Just have a quick question: whenever I download zip files from all....droid(specially the theme files etc) using dolphin browser it asks me to save as "file.php". I usually download it on to my computer and unzip it prior to moving it to my sd card.Tried renaming the .php file to .zip once its downloaded onto the sd card. Problem is that trying to access it gives me an error message. When I do it from a PC it works fine though.

i am updating an app i developed so that it downloads xml files it needs for content management. the files download successfully to the emulator but are not placed in the /files directory that openFileInput() is attempting to read from. i am admittedly unsure as to the proper overall solution here - app originally used packaged XML and was fed to an XMLPullParser - but i cant even get as far as attempting to parse new XML at present because my app cant find the new file sitting in /data/data/[myApp]/ and not /data/data/ [myApp]/files and i cant figure out how to get it in there. the download doesnt work at all if i add that folder to path.e.
