What are the capabilities and limitations of what can do with the hdmi port and cable for the DROID 3 any hacks of sorts for full hdmi or something.

I've noticed that none of the new phones coming out have HDMI out on them anymore. I've got a Razr Maxx that I'm looking at replacing and was looking at the new Droid Maxx but I'm concerned about the lack of HDMI out. I'm a boater and have a TV on my boat. I connect my Razr Maxx to my TV with a Micro HDMI to HDMI cable and watch Netflix when I'm on the. I'd hate to give that up but also realize that my Maxx won't last forever.
Any new phones that do have HDMI out?
I am using my old phone (an Xperia Arc S) as a multimedia player since it has a HDMI port. I would like to use my headphones while watching a movie. The problem is when I connect the headphones they don't seem to be recognized at all when the HDMI cable is plugged in too. All the sounds go through the HDMI cable.

Is there a cable that is micro HDMI on one end and the three on the other end? I realize it won't be HDMI quality, but i could at least put movies up on the TV from my phone.

Tried to hook it up to my 37" 08' Samsung LCD HDTV, but was only getting AUDIO through to the TV, no VIDEO? I tried all three HDMI outlets on my LCD HDTV but got the same result on each one? Anyone know whats going on here? Anyone else experience this? Anyone have success trying to do what I was trying to do?

I also connected a 1/8th" stereo to RCA cable because my surround sound isnt smart enough to decode the audio signal from the HDMI. I set the inputs and the first thing I see is that there is no picture. Rather, the picture is black (the no input warning goes away, and there is a black screen) and the only time I get any video is when I play a video or slideshow. But no audio as long as I am playing video.
Is there any way to output the audio through the headphone jack while the HDMI is outputting video? And is there a way to view the UI and apps through the HDMI port?
Does anyone know if you can port video from Sprint TV to your TV with the phone's HDMI out?
View 6 Replies View RelatedPlease correct that by constructing a fixation for the USB-port on boardside, caused by the leverage-forces when plugging in or unplugging the charging-cable, so that it cannot break at the solder spots so easily any more. I think one or two gills, pressing from above onto the USB-Port, constructed into the case, would be enough to solve the problem. So the leverage-forces wouldn´t take effekt to the solder-spots of the USB-Port, but to the (new constructed) gills and the case of the X10.

I'm wondering what other multi-tasking type of limitations this phone, and Android, have. I was playing around with a Hero at Best Buy one day and while I had the browser open I couldn't get to one of the other screens. Not sure if it was just me or if you can't do that at all with android. What good is it to have three windows and multi-tasking if you can't open a program in one screen and then leave it running and jump over to another screen. So I'm wondering if that's really true, and what other type of limitations it has? Such as, can I have the browser open while I'm using GPS? Can I open GPS and enter a route while I'm in the middle of a phone call?

I updated my roaming capabilities (*228, option 2) and I'm getting pretty much full bars continuously and my speedtest showed my ping decrease by 100ms, download speed triple, and upload speed double. This may be a drain on peoples' batteries if they haven't updated their roaming capabilities and their service keeps jumping. This may have been discussed before, but I figured it doesn't hurt to repeat for other people who have issues with service.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI would like to know, what limitations there are for how far one can go in terms of replacing UI components of current touch screen smart phones, in particular iPhone, Blackberry and android based phones.What I would like to do is create a custom UI for dialing out and incoming calls.
I have some experience with Blackberry development. The theme builder for it, can be used to customize certain items on the incoming call screen, but it doesn't look like that you can increase the size of answer button. I know Blackberry also gives you access to all the phone APIs, but I'm not sure that you can create your own UI that can gain preference over the Blackberry incoming call screen. And if you try to customize the incoming call screen by adding any buttons to it, they would be rendered as pictures.
I could possibly design a complete UI for android, since different manufactures have different UI for android based phones. Can I do what I want to do using iPhone, Blackberry or android? Or any other phone for that matter? I am guessing may be for Nokia phones using Qt, but I prefer the 3 platforms I listed.
