HTC Droid Eris :: Vibrates Even When Phone Isn't In Vibrate Mode
Nov 17, 2009
If you set something, let's say messages, to vibrate, it vibrates even when the phone isn't in vibrate mode. In other words, in normal mode - you'll get an audible alert and vibrate. If you turn off vibrate for messaging, then switch the phone profile to vibrate, the phone doesn't vibrate for messages. So it seems like it's all or none - vibrate always on, or always off. Is this what others have found? I tried installing Quick Profiles and creating profiles but the behavior is the same. Is there an app that has more granular control and can actually control vibrate?

While I'm talking to someone, if I receive a text/alarm goes off/or any other notification that vibrates, the phone still vibrates even though I'm in the middle of a call. It is very annoying to have the phone vibrate while it's against my face, and the person I'm talking to can hear it as well. It just started doing this a few weeks ago, and nothing seems to fix it. I am running 2.1v1

I just noticed that while my phone is in vibrate mode, there is no audio from any of the media players (Pandora, Cube 3, etc). This is both out of the speaker and headphone jack. I realized it because I plugged my phone in and tried to listen to Pandora after a meeting I had. The phone was still on vibrate, and no sound was coming out of the speakers I had plugged in. Putting the phone into normal ring mode rather than vibrate mode made the music start playing again. I realize that ringtones are basically audio files, so it makes sense that this the default operation, but I just thought I would ask if everyone else experiences this or if there is some setting I can change on my phone to make music play even when the vibrate mode is active.

Ever since 2.1 my phone doesn't vibrate for SMS/MMS. I use the native messenger and I have notifications on and vibrate on, but it only vibrates for calls when in vibrate mode.

Is there a way to mute all notifications (preferably set them on vibrate) and still have the phone ring when someone calls. I found many apps that do that for certain contacts, but is there a way to do this for ALL calls?

I got my 3rd Eris since June today & when I'm typing a text it vibrates/makes noise & I can't figure out how to freaking turn that off. I turned off Audible Touch Tones, Hepatic Feedback & Audible Selection..... It only makes this noise when I'm typing (ie. texts, emails & dialing).

I just got my droid x last week and I like it. I only have a couple problems. One I can't seem to getnmy phone to vibrate when receiving txts or calls when in silent mode. I went into settings and I have vibrate set to only vibrate in silent mode but it doesn't.Also it may be just me but it seems like other phones I have the in call volume was extremely loud. My old phone I could hear the person clear as day even holding the phone away from me. With the droid x I have volume maxes out but its not white as loud. Its not that bad I can still hear but I was just wondering. My other speakers such as media work great and are extremely loud. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thank you and God bless.

I used to have a motorola droid and one of the features that I really liked on the unlock screen there was a silent feature which is still there on my droid x where I could put the phone in silent mode. That's great but I want a vibrate option also. On my droid I could login and use the volume down key and the volume would go down on the ringer and then it would go into vibrate all mode, and then silent mode. On my droid x it goes straight into silent mode without a vibrate all mode. Where is my vibrate all mode? I want it back!

Seems like froyo broke the option to have a ring mode, silent mode, AND a vibrate mode separately?
Personally, I'd like to be able to be notified discretely in social situations without having the ring on, BUT also the convenience of being able to turn everything off with a quick swipe. The vibrate is pretty dang loud.

Has anyone noticed that Silent mode - when accessed via the Widget that comes up when the power button is held - also turns vibrate off. One would think vibrate should stay on to alert an incoming call "silently"
I've been using Menu> Settings> Sound and Display to turn sound off and leave vibrate on. Does anyone know an easier way ?

I just got the update to 2.2 on my Droid and I am having a slight issue. Usually whenever I go to school, I would put my Droid in silent mode and then when done I put it into vibrate mode. Now with the update it seems that I cannot do this. Here are the options that I want. What must I do to get them:
Vibrate mode: Vibrate for incoming calls, texts, emails, etc.
Silent mode: No vibration or sound for anything at all.

Anyone know how to disable this sound? When you are focusing it, it makes the little ding! sound, even when it is in vibrate mode. I was playing around with the camera at work this morning and found this out. kinda scared me cause i thought that since i have it in vibrate mode, it shouldn't make any sounds, right?

My Droid never vibrates, ever. No matter if it is set to vibrate only, silent, or max sound. It doesn't vibrate for calls, texts or for anything. I set vibrate on for both, calls and texts - and it never vibrates. I temporarily installed other apps to see if the phone is physically able to vibrate, and it is. I am not sure if I am missing an option, or if there is a software malfunction.

The title says it all. I force updated my Droid 1 to 2.2 and the phone does not vibrate for notifications or calls. I have vibrate set to always and the ringer is turned on. If I use the volume rocker to change the settings to silent it will give the vibrate notification to indicate that it is in silent. I have done a factory reset on the phone but the issue remains. I have tried all of the different vibrate settings but still nothing. Any ideas?

okay so you see I'm trying to text in landscape mode because portrait is just being weird on me, i like hold it to the side for like a minute and the darn thing won't change to landscape mode, i did it a couple of times but it just does it when it wants to, i want to be able to just turn it to the side and have it instantly change modes but it doesn't do that.

Today I plugged my phone into my car stereo to listen to pandora. When I unplugged it the headphone icon turned into a headset icon.I have no headset and now it's stuck in headset mode.I cannot hear anyone who calls me, or talk to them.I did a quick search for this problem and found some response that suggested it had to do with the hearing aid function in call setting, but when I went into call setting, the hearing aid option was turned off. I've tried powering down and restarting but that did nothing.I'm running a rooted version of 2.1, i don't remember which one but it based on the last leaked version of 2.1.
