anyway we can put this phone in vibrate mode quickly?maybe install a lockscreen like the droid x so with a quick slide you can put the phone in vibrate? i move from an iphone and the rocker that did that on the phone is sorely missed.is there any alternative out there?i just dont want to unlock the phone -> set to vibrate -> lock the phone.

I would like my phone to vibrate when I receive a text or email while it is in vibrate mode. It only does so when a call is being received. I can turn on "also vibrate" and it works, but when I am in normal mode it rings AND vibrates. Any way to make it work they way I want it?

I can't put the phone on vibrate or mute at night because then the push notification for the app will be muted also, so I want to leave the phone on "Sound" but somehow be able to quickly make the ringtone silent for when I go to bed and then in the morning put it back to what it was without going through settings each time and digging through my list of sound files.

1) My ringer, when someone calls me, starts off quiet for a few seconds then goes to full volume. The ringtone I have doesn't do that by itself, it must be a setting. Is there a way to make it ring full volume as soon as someone calls me?
2) Is there a way to make the phone vibrate when receiving a text message either while the phone is on vibrate or on normal volume.
Is anyone else finding that their keyboard lags when typing moderately quickly? I am using the Android keyboard and for the life of me I can not type "might" without it hiccuping and only getting "miht", "miht", "miht".
I've turned off the suggestion bar, auto-completion, and system sound...but still the keyboard is awful. It has been the same way with both of the Captivates that I've had.
Using U bunt and it seems as if it really wants to tether. In PC Internet mode U bunts recognizes it as a wired USB connection and identifies the phone as Samsung. Can't load a page though. Close but not there yet.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I just got my captivate & went to do the OTA update & when it went to install it the said install failed rebooting phone & then it went black & has not started since it doesn't do anything no matter what I do or how I plug it in. I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have tried all the methods of getting the phone into recovery mode, but as i said it will not even start.

1. Enable Flight Mode
2. Turn Off the phone
3. Turn on the phone
4. Disable Flight Mode
-You see the 3G icon appear now. Try accessing the internet, go to the browser, or sync your email - it does not work.
5. Turn off the phone
6. Turn on the phone
-- Now everything should be working as normal
I tried it a couple of times again to be sure and every time the issue occurs. There was no wifi access when I tried the above.
My phone when in vibrate mode doesnt vibrate when i receive a text, but does if i receive a call, all settings are as they should be for it to vibrate....

View 10 Replies View RelatedIf you set something, let's say messages, to vibrate, it vibrates even when the phone isn't in vibrate mode. In other words, in normal mode - you'll get an audible alert and vibrate. If you turn off vibrate for messaging, then switch the phone profile to vibrate, the phone doesn't vibrate for messages. So it seems like it's all or none - vibrate always on, or always off. Is this what others have found? I tried installing Quick Profiles and creating profiles but the behavior is the same. Is there an app that has more granular control and can actually control vibrate?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just noticed that while my phone is in vibrate mode, there is no audio from any of the media players (Pandora, Cube 3, etc). This is both out of the speaker and headphone jack. I realized it because I plugged my phone in and tried to listen to Pandora after a meeting I had. The phone was still on vibrate, and no sound was coming out of the speakers I had plugged in. Putting the phone into normal ring mode rather than vibrate mode made the music start playing again. I realize that ringtones are basically audio files, so it makes sense that this the default operation, but I just thought I would ask if everyone else experiences this or if there is some setting I can change on my phone to make music play even when the vibrate mode is active.

When the phone vibrates during a call, it causes a severe rattling noise when the phone is in my hands or if the bottom is not resting against a hard object. Removing the battery compartment cover and repeat, and the rattle is non existent. With the battery cover on, the rattle can be diminished by pressing firmly on the top section of the cover.

Whenever my screen goes off, the phone locks itself, and I'm forced to use the puzzle piece or the unlocked grid. This happens every time the screen auto shuts off, or when I shut it off manually with the power button. Is there a way for a non-root user to delay the autolocking to something like 30 minutes or so? As far as i can tell, there is no setting for it, only the screen timeout setting. Its annoying to keep having to unlock the phone, especially if I am driving. Anyone have any ideas?
View 13 Replies View RelatedI've been getting pretty good battery life (about 14-16 hours on average) when I use the airplane mode trick and kill the Media Hub service. However, my phone has not been able to sleep since the past 2 days and the battery is draining quickly.
The up time indicates that the phone cannot go to sleep. I'm just surprised because I haven't changed any of my phone settings so I don't know why this is happening. I uninstalled the last app that I downloaded and that didn't help.
Should I try doing a hard reset? Are there any apps that will specifically tell me what is keeping the phone awake?
Looking for an app or widget that will automatically disable 3G and change my phone to 3G (Edge) when the screen is asleep or I press the lock button.and the re enables when I unlock.
