HTC Droid Eris :: What Exactly Is This Silent Bug?

I don't really know if my phone has it, but I'm intrigued by how many people here have this problem. What exactly happens?
It took 2 days to be shipped but I got it today, a refurb after calling VZW 611 Tech. Line. I had the silent bug issue. Right away the phone was ready for the 2.1 OTA update. I updated, and so far so good, no silent bug issues, and the phone seems to be operating with no issues so far.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI sincerely hope that this audio bug isn't present. Everyone keeps saying that the OTA is exactly like v3. I hope this isn't the case. I had my audio go silent on me 7 times in one day with v3
View 8 Replies View RelatedI went to verizon to deal with my silent issue. The option was to get a new or refurb phone, that doesnt have the OTA 2.1 update. Well, what is the point, if once I get the update, I have the same issues again?
View 2 Replies View RelatedHas anyone anyone found a fix to the silent phone problem with 2.1...its outrageous and it happens to me multiple times a week, then I have to restart phone and wait 2 min before I can call that person back. Is there ANY solution to this?
View 49 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to turn the phone on silent but still have the alarm go off in the morning? I was able to do this with my env touch. I would just set it to "alarm only" for the volume setting.

View 12 Replies View RelatedBeen messing around for a very long time with apps to see exactly what is causing this, and never found anything. Recently i downloaded Launcherpro and the problem has not come up since then (knock on wood). Maybe it could be HTC Sense?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was just wondering if there is a way to force the silent phone issue. I've had it once, I'm on the v3 leak, and I'd like to get a refurbished Eris. Last time I had it I just rebooted it and it worked but I was wondering if there was a way to force it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI talked with a VZW tech just a few minutes ago.I described her the silent bug problem on 2.1.She said she is a Droid user and her daughter has an Eris. She said she had frequent freezeup on her Droid and now she reccomends to do one reboot every day. She says she had not had a problem since she has been doing this. She made a mark on my file about my complain and recommended to try the once-a-day reboot for a week. If the problem persists, the store will issue a new phone.I will try this reboot thing each night, will see how it goes.I am a bit worried about the exchange they perhaps would give me a refurb, and what is the guarantie that I won't end up with the same problem.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI would like to know whether I can shut my sounds and vibrate modes off so that my calls and texts will come through still, but not make any noises. I don't want to keep shutting my phone off every night.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a ringtone set for all call but when the call comes in it wil start to ring then go silent or very very quite i have tried the defualt ringer as well and same result? I have the ringer set to the highest it can go and still seems quite.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe Eris has been a good phone for me except the mentioned issues. The fix the worked for me was to remove the appollo software task manager. It kept closing something I xouldnt see and caused me issue. I went from 5 resets a day to 5 days and no reset. I now use task manager 1.11.9 with 0 issues.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am going to try taking my eris in to get it exchanged because of the silent phone problem. I am on leak 3. I have some questions first though.
- Will I even be able to have a legitimate complaint if I am on a leaked version?
- Will a new eris come with 2.1 or 1.5?
- if the new eris has 2.1 what are the chances of this happening again?
I cant stand having to reboot to use my phone as a phone.
Hey everyone, I have a couple of simple questions regarding root. I have never rooted a phone before but I'm sure I can figure it out. I don't need to do anything fancy with my phone but Wifi tethering sounds like it would be worth taking the plunge. I have been following the bugs and fixes thread about the 2.1 leak and the only think that initially kept me from installing the leak was everyone saying that the phone would randomly go completely silent. Does this also happen with the newest root ROM? Also, just to make sure I know what exactly what WiFi tethering is, will I be able to tether my WiFi if I get rooted and set up WiFi tethering?
View 9 Replies View RelatedJust got the new OTA this morning and I notice the volume for the ringer only goes down to vibrate at the lowest. Silent used to be below vibrate. Looks like we have no silent now.
View 16 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to default the sounds to silent while in the media dock? I'd like it to not update me on notifications like face book updates and emails in the middle of the night.
View 1 Replies View RelatedLast week I downloaded and installed the file for the 2.2 update, the FRG01B or whatever.
Since then:
- I cannot put my phone on silent. It will only go down to vibrate.
- Battery life has diminished. Went from lasting on average I'd say about 26 hours or so to now about 20.
- Some text messages don't go through to people I send to, and some sent to me don't come until much much later.
Now that I'm reading that the actual OTA update that is being pushed out again today is the same as what I forced last week, I'm beginning to consider just going back down to 2.1 so I don't have these issues.
I just got my droid x last week and I like it. I only have a couple problems. One I can't seem to getnmy phone to vibrate when receiving txts or calls when in silent mode. I went into settings and I have vibrate set to only vibrate in silent mode but it doesn't.Also it may be just me but it seems like other phones I have the in call volume was extremely loud. My old phone I could hear the person clear as day even holding the phone away from me. With the droid x I have volume maxes out but its not white as loud. Its not that bad I can still hear but I was just wondering. My other speakers such as media work great and are extremely loud. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thank you and God bless.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've looked for an answer through out the forum but did not find one if I overlooked it sorry. But the problem I have is even when I set my phone to silent or vibrate it still has and audible ring. Email and other notifications are silent but the ring isnt. I use home++ and stock home and it does the same thing. I can set it to silent using the stock silent or using ringer widgets. I will try anything, Ive had way to many embarrassing moments with Chris Brown playing during quiet time.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've accepted for a while now that it's impossible to silently install an application on Android - that is, to have a program install an application bundled as an APK without providing the standard OS installation prompt and going through the app installer activity. But now I've picked up a copy of the Appbrain fast web installer, and it does exactly this.
How on earth is this possible?
Looks like there is no way to make the phone completely silent without having to press a button when a call is coming in. I tried pressing the volume button all the way down, pass the vibrate mode but that seems to have been removed in 2.2.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAbout once a week I need to do a battery pull on my DROID because both incoming and outgoing calls are silent. I'm not sure if the caller on the other end can hear me or not.In the meantime, I've switched my vocoder options back to the factory default to see if maybe that helps. Really, it's a shot in the dark, but it's a start.
View 13 Replies View RelatedHad anyone addressed the "silent mode" issue, either in a ROM or by an app? When you put the phone to silent before me all sound would cease rings, alarms, notifications, now only the ring is silent, but the alarm and notifications sound off at the worst possible times! Its a pain to go to settings and turn them all off, but that's all it seems that works for now. Has anyone come up with a better solution? I have tasker- maybe a way to do it there?
View 4 Replies View RelatedJust wondering if any of the ROMs re-added the old 2.1 feature where you could switch from Volume on, to Vibrate only, to Silent mode on the phone. Since 2.2 it's either Vibrate with sound or vibrate in silent, and you have to edit the settings menu itself to get "just" silent or "just vibrate. Do any ROMs add this functionality?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI used to have a motorola droid and one of the features that I really liked on the unlock screen there was a silent feature which is still there on my droid x where I could put the phone in silent mode. That's great but I want a vibrate option also. On my droid I could login and use the volume down key and the volume would go down on the ringer and then it would go into vibrate all mode, and then silent mode. On my droid x it goes straight into silent mode without a vibrate all mode. Where is my vibrate all mode? I want it back!
View 4 Replies View RelatedSeems like froyo broke the option to have a ring mode, silent mode, AND a vibrate mode separately?
Personally, I'd like to be able to be notified discretely in social situations without having the ring on, BUT also the convenience of being able to turn everything off with a quick swipe. The vibrate is pretty dang loud.
Has anyone noticed that Silent mode - when accessed via the Widget that comes up when the power button is held - also turns vibrate off. One would think vibrate should stay on to alert an incoming call "silently"
I've been using Menu> Settings> Sound and Display to turn sound off and leave vibrate on. Does anyone know an easier way ?
