Does any one know why some emails show up as still on server when attempting to read from an IMAP account? This doesn't happen to all emails and I haven't been able to locate a common reason (i.e. HTML email, has attachments, Rich Text formated, etc).I'm not sure if this is just related to the Eris or the Android Mail app.

So if you retrieve email via POP, then delete the email from your inbox, and lastly delete your email from your trash... it bloody deletes it on the server (yes I have the delete mail on server UNCHECKED).

View 5 Replies View Relatedfor some reason i can't seem to set up my personal yahoo email account. i keep getting an error saying i'm not authenticated? i just logged in with this pc and didn't have any problems. i was trying to set it up using the mail widget google /gmail worked just fine with their widget are they trying to just force me to use gmail only anyone have any similar problems and/or tips to get it set up. i would like to move to one email account but you know how it is, you get on, you get another, people have the old address guess i could forward yahoo to gmail.

On my old blackberry I could do this and would not actually delete from my inbox but it would delet from my phone. Is this possible? View 7 Replies View RelatedI want to add my gmail settings to the native mail app and use that for gmail instead of using the gmail app. I dont like how you cant attach a file other than a photo using the gmail app and I like the layout of the native mail app.If you add your gmail account to the native mail app can you still receive push email? I plan on disabling the sync settings for google in the main settings but that shouldn't affect an account added to the main mail app.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI did a search and found nothing in the forums that was directly related to this so I started a new thread.I just got my EVO last night.I have two email accounts.A hotmail account, and an Exchange Activesync account.Both are set up and are working fine.Coming from a Blackberry, I am used to deleting the least important emails from the phone as I am on the road, leaving them to be handled later when I am at the computer.My job is email driven so I get 100+ per day from my work account.It is important to me to be able to delete the emails that can wait from the phone, leaving only the most important ones for me to answer while on the road.I called Sprint and after they played with the phone for 20 minutes while on hold, they could not find a way to delete emails from the EVO but leave them on the server for later download by computer.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've tried searching for this issue around the forums, but I can't find anything similar.I bought a Hero about a month ago, and I use the Gmail app to get my Google Mail with no problems at all.I set up the default Mail app to get my work e-mail using an IMAP incoming server and SMTP outgoing server, and that's where my problem exists.When I set up the account on the Mail app, everything works great and it downloads the e-mails I've received within the last few days.After 12-24 hours, it stops downloading any e-mails into my Inbox. If I hit refresh, it refreshes without any error messages, but no mail shows up.I tried deleting the mail account several times and setting it up anew; each time the same thing happens it works for the first 12-24 hours and then stops downloading.(I can still send e-mails with no problem.I've tested that.)The strangest part is that if I hit Menu from my Inbox and choose the Folders option, I get a folders list that has some of my IMAP folders in it, but then where the list should include folders that have sub-folders, it instead begins a list of literally thousands of folder names like {33}, {51}, {20}, {27}, {22}, {34}, and so on. (The numbers in the brackets appear as the folder names, and the numbers often repeat, but not in a recognizable pattern.) Overall, the list of "folders" with those numbers in brackets is thousands of items long.

However, right as the phone gets the e-mails, it reads them on the server without me even touching the e-mails (which gets very annoying to my parents). Is there anyway to make it so that when my phone pulls the e-mails that it doesn't read them on the server?I have the Samsung Moment, and the e-mail server is Yahoo. View 2 Replies View RelatedOur company uses a blackberry enterprise server, and they refuse to give me our mail server addresses because they don't want to have to deal with starting a pandemic of people getting away from blackberry, one IT guy told me that if I could figure out how to get it to just sync with outlook, I'd be able to use it. any ideas? I've messed around a lot in outlook and can't find our BBES information anywhere.

I set up the incoming server settings all fine, but when I put in the details for the outgoing server settings, and press NEXT button, I get the following each time: 'Cannot connect to the mail server to verify your account information. Your server is not responding.' This happens on all three accounts. I have used the same settings as on my computer which works when sending the emails on my computer. I finish the setting it up, but ofcourse I can receive emails, but can't send any.

But if I delete the messages from the phone shouldn't they be deleting from the server as well? I would like to see them gone the next time I actually sign into my hotmail account from my laptop but they aren't. I have to physically delete them again from my laptop for them to actually be gone. View 8 Replies View RelatedI got my Incredible on April 29th and setup my Exchange email account and was able to send and receive with no problems. Contacts and calendar synced with no problems. Everything was fine for about a week then I noticed I was no longer receiving emails. I could send with no problems and contacts and calendar still synced ok, I just could not get emails using wither WiFi or Verizon's network. I went into the account settings and activesync settings and see an error message that said "error occurred on the computer running the exchange server". Deleting and recreating the account on the Incredible seems to work, but for only about 7-10 days then right back in the same boat. I do not think the phone is the issue as I had a Droid and had the almost identical problem.
On the Droid I did not see the error message but I would stop receiving emails after about a week. I have tried Touchdown and it's almost the same issue, except that the error is something along the lines of "mail queued on the server". Again, removing and reinstalling the account in Touchdown resolves the issue for about another week. I called our corp help desk folks and it was a wasted phone call. All I got from them was we don't support mobile devices via activesync and wouldn't talk about it anymore, so I am leaning toward something on our mail server causing the issue. My only problem with that answer is that we also have other users here with iPhones and Windows mobile devices and they are not having any problems, and they are also connected via activesync.
I'm new on here although have been lurking for a while trying to suss out my hero.I need help setting up my orange email account on the phone, I've tried searching the forum without success, point in the right direction if you can.anyway when I try to set it up the phone responds with 'cannot connect to the mail server to verify your account information. I click it, and the little circular arrows spin round and then I get the same message. Refresh brings the same result. *Sometimes*, however, doing one of these things will actually deliver the messages.

Nothing loads and I get a popup that says: "Attention, A server error has occured. Retry, or cancel and return to the previous screen." It's also fairly intermittent, sometimes I get this error, sometimes not. I've not seen this before yesterday.
