Android :: Need E-mail That Doesn't Read On Server

I need an e-mail application that sends all e-mails to my phone, but doesn't read them on the server (unless I actually read them).I have to check my parents e-mail on-the-go, so when I sync it to my phone, all the e-mails are recieved very well. However, right as the phone gets the e-mails, it reads them on the server without me even touching the e-mails (which gets very annoying to my parents). Is there anyway to make it so that when my phone pulls the e-mails that it doesn't read them on the server?I have the Samsung Moment, and the e-mail server is Yahoo. I've tried both K-9 and the default e-mail app, but niether have let me have this setting (as far as I'm aware).

I use K-9 Mail for my hotmail account. When I mark emails as read on my phone I would like that to sync with my hotmail account.For some reason I can get it to delete the emails on the server, but I can't get it to mark it as read.

i set up my yahoo account on my galaxy with 1.6 and everything is working perfectly, except that when i log in online, all my mail is marked as read.basically every time the phone goes and gets the new email is marks them as read on the server/webmail.I primarily check my mail online as opposed to the phone so this is a big problem. i've gone through the settings of both the default mail client as well as K9 and i cant find anything to change this behavior.i have yahoo mail plus and have also looked through the prefrences in my yahoo mail options.does anyone have an idea on how to use pop mail while keeping unread messages as unread on the server?

I'm having problems with K-9 mail. I'm getting mail fine and can delete it but nothing ever gets marked as 'read'. My new mail messages are up to the hundreds by the middle of the week until I go to google and mark them all as read.

I configure email by using the android2.1 emulator. When I download the files from mail attachment I get the path content://com.android.email.attachmentprovider/1/1/RAW
I need to read that file data. How to read the data from the device? Is there any permission to read file from the phone memory.
My code is here:

In the eclipse file explorer /data/data/com.android.email/databases/1.db_att/1
Here 1 is store the attachment file. Now How to get the data from that?

I've been trying to set up my email on htc one x for 2 days with no success.
I've settled down for aqua mail, after trying maildroid, k-9.
The thing is that my hotmail acount doen't mark as read on server.
From what i understand it's because hotmail is pop'? but it has always worked for me on iphone. Is there a way to get around this.
I dont want to change provider, or forward my mail, or pay for email app, I'd like to have both hotmail and gmail accounts in one unified inbox so rather not just have gmail hotmail separately.
My stock email app is insanely slow, there's something wrong with it, how do i reinstall it?

Android documents starting the email intent for sending emails with Intent.ACTION_SEND. Is there an intent which directs the user to reading his email, or which launches the default email application? The application that launches the "read mail" intent would get no access to the email data.

I am developing a new application which hopefully will use a barcode reader to scan and find books. I will then use the ISBN information to get more information.
The intents work and I can scan 2d barcodes OK but not the 1d barcodes of books which I know scan fine using the full application.
This is my code. I have tried it without putting the intent extras and it doesn't change anything. code...
Is there something obvious I am missing? The settings in the app also are selected on 1d scanning only.

I added my gmail account to my EVO and when I check all of my messages on my desktop, shouldn't the EVO sync and have them marked as read? In my case they remain "unread" until I go through message. Is this normal? If it is, is there any way around this? If it's not normal, how do I go about making sure it syncs?

Our company uses a blackberry enterprise server, and they refuse to give me our mail server addresses because they don't want to have to deal with starting a pandemic of people getting away from blackberry, one IT guy told me that if I could figure out how to get it to just sync with outlook, I'd be able to use it. any ideas? I've messed around a lot in outlook and can't find our BBES information anywhere.

I did a search and found nothing in the forums that was directly related to this so I started a new thread.I just got my EVO last night.I have two email accounts.A hotmail account, and an Exchange Activesync account.Both are set up and are working fine.Coming from a Blackberry, I am used to deleting the least important emails from the phone as I am on the road, leaving them to be handled later when I am at the computer.My job is email driven so I get 100+ per day from my work account.It is important to me to be able to delete the emails that can wait from the phone, leaving only the most important ones for me to answer while on the road.I called Sprint and after they played with the phone for 20 minutes while on hold, they could not find a way to delete emails from the EVO but leave them on the server for later download by computer.

Does any one know why some emails show up as still on server when attempting to read from an IMAP account? This doesn't happen to all emails and I haven't been able to locate a common reason (i.e. HTML email, has attachments, Rich Text formated, etc).I'm not sure if this is just related to the Eris or the Android Mail app.

Recently updated my Desire to Froyo, and it seems I can no longer "search for mail on Server" when looking for email on our exchange server.Is there some new setting that i need to enable, or have the powers-that-be decided that being able to search for mail on a remote server is not a valid tool for a mobile device.

I added a POP account to my Incredible and it brought in "x" number of messages and marked them as UNREAD. When I log into this POP account on the PC, these messages are all READ. How can I mark them all as READ without having to open each message individually? When I had a Blackberry, it had an option "Mark Prior Opened" or "Mark All Prior Opened".

I just received in the post a new class 6 microsd card 8gig. Now, when I remove the the card I got with the phone, I first unmount it in the settings then physically remove it. I get notifications telling me this too. When I install the new card nothing happens and I get no notifications.

I've tried searching for this issue around the forums, but I can't find anything similar.I bought a Hero about a month ago, and I use the Gmail app to get my Google Mail with no problems at all.I set up the default Mail app to get my work e-mail using an IMAP incoming server and SMTP outgoing server, and that's where my problem exists.When I set up the account on the Mail app, everything works great and it downloads the e-mails I've received within the last few days.After 12-24 hours, it stops downloading any e-mails into my Inbox. If I hit refresh, it refreshes without any error messages, but no mail shows up.I tried deleting the mail account several times and setting it up anew; each time the same thing happens it works for the first 12-24 hours and then stops downloading.(I can still send e-mails with no problem.I've tested that.)The strangest part is that if I hit Menu from my Inbox and choose the Folders option, I get a folders list that has some of my IMAP folders in it, but then where the list should include folders that have sub-folders, it instead begins a list of literally thousands of folder names like {33}, {51}, {20}, {27}, {22}, {34}, and so on. (The numbers in the brackets appear as the folder names, and the numbers often repeat, but not in a recognizable pattern.) Overall, the list of "folders" with those numbers in brackets is thousands of items long.

So if you retrieve email via POP, then delete the email from your inbox, and lastly delete your email from your trash... it bloody deletes it on the server (yes I have the delete mail on server UNCHECKED).

I use hotmail using the standard mail app. I have it checked to delete mail on the server but when I delete the mail it comes back once it refreshes the inbox. Anyone else encounter this? I searched but couldn't find anything similar.
